Week 2 – Wisdom In Finances (Proverbs 21:20)

Solomon, who had everything anyone could want, reminds us that, “the wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” In a world where instant gratification and excess are celebrated, good stewardship stands as a mark of wisdom. Instead of consuming everything we have as soon as we receive it, wisdom encourages us to guard our resources carefully. This applies not only to our material possessions but also to our time, energy, and talents. Using resources wisely honors God, acknowledging that everything we have is a gift from Him. By practicing restraint and thoughtful planning, we ensure that our provisions are sufficient for today and the future. When we succumb to the world’s pull towards indulgence and gluttony, we lose sight of the greater good, leaving ourselves and those around us vulnerable. Being intentional and disciplined with what we are given enables us to be generous and prepared. And it aligns our actions with God’s principles of stewardship.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we practice better stewardship of the resources God has entrusted to us, especially in a culture that promotes instant gratification?
  1. In what areas of our lives can we show more wisdom by planning and saving rather than consuming everything immediately?

Wise hearts save for tomorrow, but fools feast away today. Treasure wisdom, not just wealth. 🙏🏻❤️

Psalm 139:14

Many people are afraid to show who they truly are, because they worry about rejection or judgment. But as Christians, knowing we are wonderfully made by God gives us the freedom to embrace our true selves. Understanding that we are each intentionally created by God, allows us to celebrate our uniqueness without fear or insecurity. We are freed from the pressure to conform to others’ expectations and can confidently live out our God-given identities. This gives us a sense of purpose and value, motivating us to use our talents and gifts for His glory. When we recognize that we are crafted with care and purpose, we can reject negative self-images. Allowing us to appreciate our strengths, and even our flaws, as part of God’s perfect design. This acceptance fosters self-love and compassion, enabling us to extend the same grace to others. Embracing our individuality as a testament to God’s wonderful work allows us to live authentically, courageously, and joyfully, reflecting His creativity and love in everything we do.

The unique gifts God gives each of us are for serving others, reflecting the freedom we have in Jesus. When we use our talents and abilities to help those around us, we demonstrate the transformative power of God’s grace in our lives. This service becomes a living testament to the freedom we’ve received through Christ. It frees us from selfishness and empowers us to act with love and generosity. Whether through teaching, encouragement, hospitality, or any other gift, our actions can bring hope and healing to others, showcasing the diversity of God’s grace. By faithfully stewarding our gifts, we both honor God and answer His call to work for His glory and kingdom. This active participation in serving others deepens our sense of purpose and connection, making our freedom in Christ tangible and impactful. In essence, using our gifts for others is a powerful way to live out our faith, showing the world the love and freedom that comes from being in Jesus.

Matthew 25:21

I long to see so many things when I get to heaven. Most of all to behold the face of my beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. And what my heart would burst to hear is my Lord saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” In Matthew 25:21, we are reminded of the critical importance of faithful stewardship as we await Jesus’ return. Our Master commands us to wisely use our time, talents, and resources, investing them in the work of God’s kingdom. As we labor in service to the Lord, we are called to maximize what He has entrusted to us, whether great or small. Each day is an opportunity to sow seeds of faith, kindness, and generosity, working for God’s eternal harvest. And obedience to our calling is both a reflection of our love for the Lord and our commitment to His purposes. So let us not grow weary or lose heart. For no efforts are never in vain when done for His glory. And one day we will hear those cherished words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Colossians 4:17

“See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

In Jeremiah 1:5 God says, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” Each of us was purposely and hand created by God with specific gifts. And we are to use those God given talents towards completing the work the Lord gives us. Whether they be spiritual, intellectual, or practical, we are to use our talents to advance God’s kingdom and bring glory to His name. We all have a calling that is ours alone. Through prayer, reading God’s Word, consulting others, and following the prompting of the Spirit, we can discover that calling. And when we do, we are to passionately dedicate ourselves to fulfilling it. Whether through acts of kindness, teaching, preaching, serving, or any other form of ministry, we are called to use our gifts diligently. Finding great joy in knowing that our labor for the Lord is not in vain. Because by doing so, we become instruments of God’s love, grace, and truth. So desperately needed in our darkened and depraved world of today.
