1 John 4:7-8

We all know that actions speak louder than words. But in the case of Christians, both our words and our actions are to be living testimonies of love. The same love that God so generously and unconditionally shows us. Meaning our words should echo the compassion and grace of our Heavenly Father. Our conversations sprinkled with kindness, encouragement, and affirmation to uplift those around us. Likewise, our actions should mirror the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ. Meaning we should be the first to reach out, offering help to the needy and extending forgiveness to the brokenhearted. It’s through these expressions of love that others can experience the depth of God’s love for them. Because as we abide in God’s love, it overflows our hearts and minds. And we become channels of His divine love, radiating His light and warmth to a world in need. Let us, therefore, walk in love, following the example set forth by Christ. And shine brightly as beacons of God’s love in a world longing for His embrace.

1 John 4:19

We are not born naturally loving and caring about others. Instead we enter this world selfish, sinful, and thinking about only ourselves. Love is a gift given and created by God who is love. And it is His amazing love, that awakens the love inside of us. A love we can only to show to others, because He first loved us. As we grasp the depth and magnitude of God’s unfailing love, a natural response emerges within us. To love Him in return Him with all of our heart, soul, and strength. And to show that love through our words, actions, obedience, and devotion to His will. Loving God in return isn’t just an obligation; it’s a joyful privilege. It’s a love that seeks intimacy with Him, yearning to dwell in His presence and abide in His love. As we respond to God’s love with love, our lives become a living testimony of His transformative power. One that draws others into a deeper relationship with Him. Let us, therefore, embrace the call to love God fervently. Knowing that He first loved us and continues to pour out His love upon us each day.

Hebrews 10:23

I read once that during times when our faith is tested and our convictions tried, Christians can find not only endurance but a radiant hope that shines brighter than the flames of adversity. How? By holding fast. To hold fast means to grasp firmly, to maintain a secure and unyielding grip on something. And as the days grow darker, gripping tightly to God is the best place for us to be. To stay rooted in His promises, allowing our hearts to be filled with enduring hope. Leaning on the Lord and His strength so we can preserve with steadfast faith, no matter what we face. Confidently we can stay the course because our endurance is sustained by the faithfulness of God. Ruler and Creator of all things. And the only One who holds the future. So we can boldly keep on declaring our faith in Jesus Christ. Keep on sharing the truth of His Word, and live a life that’s a beautiful testimony to the world and glorifies the Lord.

Isaiah 58:10-11

When God tells us to help the less fortunate, it’s not just for their benefit but for ours. Because there’s a profound connection between helping those in need and experiencing God’s abundant blessings. Blessings including a compassionate heart and the joy that comes from being a source of hope and support to others. Add to that personal growth, fulfillment, and spiritual enrichment. That’s why we are called to be instruments of God’s abundance. The world is facing unprecedented challenges. And in these trying times, Christians have the opportunity to step up. To be beacons of God’s love and grace by extending a helping hand. And to embody the message of compassion, kindness, and selflessness that Jesus exemplified throughout His life. By helping the less fortunate, we as Christians have an opportunity to be ambassadors for Jesus. Living testimonies of the very Gospel we follow. And true examples of God’s love to a world in desperate need.

Colossians 1:11

“being strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;”

As I’m sitting here on hold with customer service for almost 30 minutes now, Paul’s prayer for believers to have, through the power of God, enduring and joyful patience resonates loud and clear. This divine strength, rooted in the Lord’s might, empowers us to persevere during the hard times. Because life will throw many challenges at us. Yet we can overcome them all with a steadfast spirit. And not only can we be victorious, when we tap into God’s power, we find the strength to have a patience that goes beyond mere endurance. It can actually become a source of great joy. How? When we rely on God’s strength, the result is a positive outlook, even in the face of trials, because we know that out of His great love, God’s purposes are at work. This patience, infused with joy, is a testament to our faith in His sovereignty and goodness. A joy which allows us to remain hopeful while we wait for His plans to unfold. And the ability to show the world what grace and an unwavering trust in God looks like.

August 1st – Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

It doesn’t get much better than driving in your car, sun shining, windows down, and your favorite song blaring on the radio. Whether it be from the lyrics, the beat, or the melody, music can bring forth a variety of physical responses. Paul understood the capacity music has to change both hearts and lives. And so he tells us to use the songs we sing to both teach the Word of God, and to gently advise those who may need correcting. Always doing so with hearts of thanksgiving and with the goal of helping each other in our walk of faith. But most of all, to glorify God. The greatest purpose music can serve is when we use it as God intended, as a means to worship Him. The music we play and the songs we sing, are a testimony to both God and world around us. So let our song be one of devotion, thankfulness, and appreciation to the Lord. A melody of thankfulness that sprouts from deep in our hearts and brings a song of joy to our lips.

Proverbs 20:29

“The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old.”

In todays society youth is worshipped, and people go to great lengths to attain it. But there’s something wonderful to be said about growing old gracefully. My grandmother died at 92. Her life revolved around her love for God and her desire to serve Him. And she did so faithfully. So when she developed dementia and couldn’t serve the way she used to, it broke her heart. It was in those times that I had to remind her that God still had a mighty purpose for her. And although she might not be physically able to serve the Lord, she could still serve. For nothing can stop the Spirit of God from working in and through us. And even in our old age, we can be powerful instruments of the Lord. Even at 92 my grandmother could serve not only by sharing her faith, but also her wisdom and experiences. Because after all, as she would jokingly agree, she earned every one of those grey hairs! No matter how old or young, each day God gives us is a gift. And until we draw our last breath, He wants us to use each one for the glory of His kingdom.

2 Corinthians 2:10

“But one whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did it for your sakes in the presence of Christ,”

It’s one thing for Christians to preach about forgiveness, and quite another to actually walk the walk. As soon as we proclaim Jesus as our lord and Savior, the world watches. It waits to see how we handle conflict. Especially conflict with a fellow Believer. As followers of Jesus we are called to love one another. And to emulate the example of Christ, who forgives us unconditionally. By extending forgiveness to our fellow Christians, we reflect the redemptive power of the Gospel and the transformative work of God’s grace in our lives. Furthermore, forgiveness between brothers and sisters in Christ fosters unity, reconciliation, and the restoration of broken relationships. It allows us to uphold the Christlike values of humility, compassion, and empathy. And  serves as a mighty testimony to the world, showcasing the power of forgiveness and demonstrating the authenticity of our faith.

Psalm 51:10

“Create in me a pure heart, O God,and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

When it comes to forgiveness, I absolutely love what Pastor Joe Focht has to say. “There is no more confused message that you and I could give to a lost and dying world than to live in sin and at the same time to tell people about the transforming power of Jesus Christ. God will not use a compromised life to reach a compromised world. God will use a life that is given over to Him. That is a demonstration of the message that through the power of Jesus Christ and His love, He can transform our lives and set us free.” Everyday our lives are testimonies to the world about the love, grace, and mercy of God. And everyday it watches to see if we are practicing what we preach. We each sin daily and are in need of God’s forgiveness. And that’s exactly receive when we come before Him in true confession and repentance. He is faithful to wash away the filth in our hearts and cleanse us with His loving grace. We too should be exampling that same kind of forgiveness to a hurt and darkened world in desperate need of God’s saving grace.

1 John 5:11

When Moses gave Israel God’s Law, he told them of the grave punishment for bearing false witness against another. If the testimony given was untrue, the liar received the punishment intended for the one they falsely accused. When witnesses testify in court they’re sworn to to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. Yet unfortunately we know that people and their promises can’t always be trusted. But that’s never the case with God. We can trust that He is always true, honest, and faithful to keep His word. Throughout the Old Testament we read the glorious testimony given by God. Promises about a Messiah who would come to save the world. Which came true with the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Who is the Savior God sent to redeem the world. In His unmerited love, God has provided the way to eternal life through His only begotten Son. This is true, and this is life!
