I’m a list maker. I love to sit down with a cup of hot coffee and make a list of things I need to do for the day. My lists keep me organized, and I get a small feeling of accomplishment as I cross off each task. One Friday night I sat down with my trusted pad of paper and pen, and eagerly wrote down all of the things I planned to get done over the weekend. And as I went to sleep that night with the thoughts of all I wanted to tackle, I awoke to a son with a migraine, a dog having stomach issues, an unexpected early morning visitor, and a complete change in the plans I had so carefully laid out. September 22nd – Matthew 6:26

Matthew 6:26

Corrie Ten Boom once said, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” It’s only human to fret over things we can’t control. But as Christians we can let go of worry and anxiety because of the faith we have in God, our gracious Provider. Many suffer in this world with not having clean water to drink, food to eat, or shelters over their head. And as hard as that can be, life is more than just about basic necessities. It’s about working for God, including trusting Him to provide what we need to live. Jesus tells us to look at the birds of the sky. They don’t plant, harvest, or store up their crops in a barn. They live day to day, moment by moment. And still they get fed from the hand of God. We are much more valuable to our Father than the birds. And as such, we can trust God to take of us in every way. Meaning we may not always get what we want, but God promises to always provide exactly what we need at exactly the right time.

January 4th – Proverbs 3:5-6

Proverbs 3:5-6

Do you ever find yourself making New Years resolutions only to find them broken a short time later? That was me. But then I learned that any goal I want to reach, only happens through God. For no matter what we set out to accomplish, if we partner with the Lord, we’ll have victory every time. First, we have to make sure that what we want is in line with God’s will. Next, we need to put our trust in the Lord that He will give us the strength and means to reach our goals. And finally, we need to stay on the path that follows God and His direction. By following the Lord’s winning formula, every goal we make can be met with success!
