September 2nd – Deuteronomy 8:7

Deuteronomy 8:7

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills;

Even though the United States isn’t short of faults, those that live here are blessed. For no other country offers the freedoms, prosperity, and abundance of America. That’s why it’s important to have a spirit of gratitude for living in a land of plenty. A blessing the rest of the world isn’t privileged to experience. And in a world where scarcity and need often prevail, we are called to recognize the abundance that surrounds us. From her fertile lands to bountiful resources, the hand of God has been upon the country. Such blessings are not to be taken for granted but rather embraced with a thankful heart. We should be grateful not only for the physical provisions but also for the sense of security, peace, and opportunities that come with living in a land of plenty. This verse encourages us to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation and His unwavering care. And with our gratitude, we honor the Giver of all good gifts and cultivate a spirit of generosity, reflecting God’s love in the world.

June 13th – 1 Kings 8:34

1 Kings 8:34

then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors.”

Many times Israel sinned against God. And just as many times God forgave them. Many too are the sins of our country. Like Israel we have disobeyed God, embraced wickedness, and turned aside from the Lord. Yet thankfully, God’s forgiveness is not limited to only the nation of Israel. It’s available to any country that humbly turns to Him, acknowledges its wrongdoings, and seeks His mercy. And our country is in desperate need of repentance and forgiveness. During the dedication of the temple, King Solomon prayed for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the people of Israel when they sinned against Him. We too need to be interceding for our country. Praying our leaders make decisions based on God’s will. That her people will repent from evil, and that God will not remove His hand of blessing from us. Asking God to forgive our transgressions and guide the nation towards righteousness, unity, and peace.
