Week 1 – Wisdom Comes From God (James 1:5)

Everyday we are bombarded with the opinions of others as to how we should live our lives. And in a world full of noise, it’s important to seek God’s wisdom to guide our steps and keep our focus on what truly matters. Thankfully we serve a God who gives generously, without hesitation or measure. When we lack wisdom, all we need to do is ask with a sincere heart, and God will freely provide. This wisdom isn’t just knowledge, but divine insight that guides us through life’s challenges and decisions. God’s wisdom equips us to lead a victorious life that honors and glorifies Him. It helps us navigate the complexities of our daily walk. And gives us clarity in confusion, strength in weakness, and direction when we feel lost. This wisdom is a gift not earned, but given out of God’s abundant love and grace. And as we seek Him, trusting in His perfect wisdom, we better reflect His glory in our lives. In every situation we can turn to God, confident that He will guide us with wisdom that leads to a life of victory and purpose.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we make it a daily habit to seek God’s wisdom in our decisions, rather than relying solely on our own understanding or the opinions of others
  2.  In what areas of your life do you currently need to ask God for wisdom, trusting that He will provide it generously?

Many people mistakenly assume that becoming a Christian means a life free from struggle, expecting only easy, peaceful living. But Jesus clearly states that in this world we, as His followers, will face trouble. Our Lord never promises a life free of difficulties. Instead, He prepares us for the reality of trials and tribulations. Yet Christ’s message doesn’t end there. He also assures us that despite these challenges, He has overcome the world. This victory offers a profound, unshakeable, and perfect peace. So even when Satan and his minions throw their worst at us, seeking to shake our faith and disturb our tranquility, Jesus provides a steadfast calm. He is the eye in every hurricane, a place of serene refuge amidst the chaos. This divine peace is not an escape from trouble but a deep assurance and strength within it. So while Christianity doesn’t promise a life of ease, it does offer something far greater. A perfect peace in Jesus, who sustains and anchors us through every storm we face.

Psalm 51:12

After David had sinned greatly against God he pleaded to the Lord, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation.” A plea capturing the overwhelming joy that stems from knowing we are saved by God’s grace. This joy is a deep, abiding sense of peace and happiness, rooted in the assurance of our salvation and the unmerited favor we receive through Jesus’ sacrifice. When we reflect on the magnitude of Christ’s love, who gave His life so we might live, our hearts overflow with gratitude. This gratitude fuels our joy, reminding us that our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled with God. Even if we’ve lost this joy amid life’s struggles, we can reclaim it by revisiting the truth of our salvation. Through prayer, worship, and reading Scripture, we reconnect with the source of our joy; God’s unfailing love and grace. By focusing on the eternal hope we have in Christ, we can rise above our present challenges. With grateful hearts we embrace this joy, which uplifts our spirits, and empowers us to live victoriously.

2 Timothy 3:1

Many people mistakenly believe that being a Christian guarantees a life of smooth sailing, free from trials and tribulations. However Jesus promised exactly the opposite. He assured us that we would face hardships, persecution, and challenges because of our faith. And as we draw closer to His return, these difficulties will intensify for followers of Christ. The world will grow increasingly hostile towards those who uphold biblical truths and live according to God’s standards. Yet despite these challenges, we are called to remain steadfast and faithful, knowing that our sufferings are not in vain. Because it’s through our trials in which our faith is refined and our dependence on God deepened. That’s why the promise of His return gives us hope and strength to endure. For Jesus has overcome the world, and He will be with us through every storm. We can trust in His unfailing love and the ultimate victory we have in Him. So as we await His return, let us cling to our faith and in the eternal glory that awaits us.

Matthew 24:6

In Matthew we are reminded that in the last days, we will hear of wars and rumors of wars. This paints a picture of a world that often feels scary and dangerous. The current wars, threats of new wars, and the violence and hostility towards those with different beliefs, all contribute to this unsettling reality. Yet as believers, we understand that these events must occur to usher in the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And despite the chaos around us, we find solace in the knowledge that God is always in control. Nothing happens outside of His sovereign plan, and nothing takes Him by surprise. This assurance allows us to face the turmoil with a sense of peace, knowing that God’s purposes are being fulfilled. Our faith anchors us, reminding us that even in the darkest times, God’s light shines through. We are called to trust in His timing and to remain steadfast in our hope. As we navigate these turbulent days, let us hold onto the promise of Christ’s return. And find comfort in the certainty of His ultimate victory!

Because it commemorates the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ from the dead, three days after His crucifixion. This miraculous event stands as the cornerstone of our faith. For it affirms Jesus’ victory over sin and death and offers the promise of eternal life to all who believe. Easter heralds the dawn of hope and redemption, as the empty tomb bears witness to the power of God’s love and the fulfillment of His promises. It’s a time of great rejoicing, as we gather to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness and life over death. Easter calls us to reflect on the depths of God’s grace and mercy, as manifested through Jesus’ sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection. As we proclaim “He is risen!” with hearts overflowing with gratitude and praise, Easter reminds us of the unshakable hope we have in Jesus, our risen Savior, who promises an eternity by His side to all who call Him Lord.

Matthew 27:65

The chief priests and Pharisees were consumed by fear and uncertainty, so they seek to prevent the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy by securing His tomb. This act symbolizes the solemnity and uncertainty of Silent Saturday, the day between the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Despite their efforts to restrain and control the situation, the power of God’s will remained unshakeable and unstoppable. Silent Saturday serves as a poignant reminder that even in the darkest moments of our lives, when it seems as though all hope is lost and the forces of fear and doubt hold sway, God’s purposes continue to unfold according to His divine plan. Like the sealed tomb, our lives may be constrained by circumstances, doubts, and fears, but nothing can thwart the ultimate victory of God’s will. In the silence of Holy Saturday, we are invited to trust in God’s faithfulness and sovereignty, even when we cannot see the way forward. It is a time of waiting and preparation, as we anticipate the dawn of Easter Sunday, when the power of God’s love and resurrection will triumph over darkness and death.

Philippians 4:4

To rejoice is to experience an overwhelming sense of gladness and joy, often accompanied by expressions of celebration and gratitude. It’s a deep-seated happiness rooted in the goodness of God and His blessings in our lives. And Easter, where we celebrate the glorious Resurrection of Jesus and His victory over sin and death, gives us ample reason to rejoice. To praise God for His unfailing love and faithfulness. As we reflect on the empty tomb and the triumph of Christ, our hearts overflow with joy and gratitude for the salvation and eternal life He has secured for us. In every season and circumstance of life, we find comfort and strength in rejoicing in the Lord, knowing that His resurrection power is at work within us. Let us lift our voices in worship and adoration, offering up songs of praise for the mighty deeds of our risen Savior. With hearts filled with joy, let us declare His goodness and proclaim His victory to all the earth. For in Him, we have every reason to rejoice, now and forevermore.

From far being a tale of tragedy, Paul reminds us of the incredible victory we have in Christ through His resurrection from the dead. Jesus’ triumph over sin and death on that glorious Easter morning is the ultimate demonstration of His power and love for humanity. Through His sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection, Jesus conquered the forces of darkness, securing our salvation and offering us eternal life. His precious victory assures us that we are no longer slaves to sin, but have the power to live in righteousness and holiness. A power provided by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who takes residence inside us the moment we confess Jesus as Lord. As we reflect on the victory of Easter, our hearts overflow with praise and thanksgiving to God for His love and grace. We rejoice in the gift of eternal life we have in Christ, knowing that nothing can separate us from His love. May we live each day in the confidence of His victory, boldly proclaiming the Gospel and advancing His kingdom until His glorious return.

Romans 15:13

One of the apostle Paul’s deepest longings was that we as believers, experience the fullness of joy and peace that comes from the hope we have in Christ. A hope that is the very essence of Easter. When Christians around the world celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection, and the hope it brings for the future. For in Jesus we find assurance in the unyielding faithfulness of our Heavenly Father, who demonstrated His boundless love through the sacrificial death and triumphant Resurrection of His Son. Giving us a hope that isn’t fleeting or just wishful thinking. Instead it’s a steadfast confidence in the victory of Christ over sin and death, ensuring our redemption and eternal fellowship with God. A hope that sustains us in times of trouble, and one that reminds us how nothing can separate us from the love of God. A love manifested through Christ Jesus our Lord. So as we embrace the hope of Easter, may our hearts overflow with joy and peace, knowing that our future is secure in the hands of our faithful Savior.
