August 7th – Mark 11:22-24

Week 1 – Understanding Faith (Mark 11:22-24)

Joni Earedkson Tada once said, “Faith isn’t the ability to believe long and far into the misty future. It’s simply taking God at His Word and taking the next step.” In Mark, Jesus underscores the immense power of having faith in God’s omnipotence. We are encouraged to approach prayer with boldness and unwavering belief, confident that God is capable of achieving the impossible. However, this faith must be rooted in a sincere desire for God’s will to prevail above all else. Our prayers should align with His divine plan, trusting that He knows what is best for us and the world around us. When we pray with this kind of faith, we acknowledge God’s supreme authority and wisdom, submitting our desires to His greater purpose. This alignment ensures that our prayers are not just wishful thinking but powerful declarations of trust in God’s perfect will. By embracing this mindset, we can pray with conviction and courage, knowing that our faith in God’s power will bring about His divine outcomes.

Questions for Reflection

  1. How can we develop and maintain a strong faith in God’s power, allowing us to pray boldly and confidently, trusting that He is capable of accomplishing the impossible?
  1. In what ways can we ensure our prayers align with God’s will, seeking His guidance and submitting our desires to His greater purpose, especially when faced with difficult situations?

With faith as strong as mountains, our prayers reach the heart of God’s will. 🙏🏻❤️

Proverbs 16:32

Controlling our impulses and the way we react, is a greater achievement than any outward display of power. Because patience reflects inner strength, allowing us to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. To respond with wisdom rather than aggression. Sure brute force can overpower, but it often leads to destruction and regret. Yet self-control fosters constructive outcomes and strives to maintain peace. It takes true strength to hold back anger, to wait for the right moment, or to persevere through trials without giving in to frustration and sin. Patience builds character and fosters deeper relationships, as it demonstrates respect and understanding for others. It allows us to go through life’s ups and downs with grace. To turn potential conflicts into opportunities for growth and reconciliation. That’s why Solomon teaches that true strength is found in the quiet, disciplined practice of patience and self-control, shaping us into resilient and compassionate individuals.

2 Corinthians 11:13

Paul warns us about false apostles, deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. As we approach the last days, it is crucial to be particularly discerning about the teachers, ministers, and so-called prophets we listen to. The rise of misinformation and deception is rampant, and many may be led astray by charismatic leaders who do not preach the true gospel. Our ultimate source of truth must be the Bible, the inspired Word of God. By grounding ourselves in Scripture, we can discern between true and false teachings. The Bible equips us with wisdom and understanding, helping us to recognize those who distort the gospel for their gain. It is essential to test every teaching against the Word of God, ensuring it aligns with the doctrines and principles found in Scripture. April 24th – Deuteronomy 32:2

Deuteronomy 32:2

One of my favorite poems for the season begins, “In spring, the rain gently falls. God’s Word, like showers, He calls. Refreshing hearts, renewing souls. As His truth in us unfolds.” A perfect description of the words of our Lord. He sends gentle rains to fall upon tender grass and refreshing showers upon the plants, so spring can bring forth a renewal of life and vitality to the earth. And He sends His Word to descend as dew upon the land, nourishing and sustaining it, making the beauty of springtime a reminder of His divine care. In the tender shoots that push through the soil and the vibrant blooms across the landscape, we see the handiwork of our Creator. As we marvel at the wonders of spring, let us also reflect on the wisdom found in Deuteronomy, recognizing that just as God’s word brings life to the earth, so too does it bring life to our souls. And let us open our hearts to receive His teachings, allowing them to take root and flourish within us, like the flowers that bloom in the warmth of the spring sun.

April 22nd – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

1 Thessalonians 5:18

With spring in the air I can’t wait to clean out my flower beds replacing the dead with new, all in the hopes of a beautiful garden to enjoy all season long. Yet in the amidst of my anticipation, I would do well to remember the wisdom of Paul who urges me to give thanks in all circumstances. Just as a gardener remains grateful regardless of the size of the harvest, I too need to cultivate a spirit of gratitude in both abundance and scarcity. For in every seed sown and every bud that blooms, there lies an opportunity to offer thanks to God, the ultimate Gardener of our lives. Whether the yield be abundant or modest, let us rejoice in the privilege of witnessing growth and transformation. Even when the storms threaten our gardens, we can find comfort in the assurance that God works all things together for our good. Therefore, as we tend to the gardens of our lives, may our hearts overflow with gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon us, knowing that every season serves a purpose in His divine plan.

January 11th – Psalm 119:11

Psalm 119:11

God’s Word is not just ink on pages. As we are told in Hebrews, it’s alive and active. “Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12) God’s Word is the transformative force that shapes our thoughts, guides our actions, and illuminates the path of our lives. In its impact, we find wisdom, strength, and the sacred map for the journey of spiritual growth and renewal. As we intentionally store His teachings in our hearts, the Bible becomes a guiding compass in the journey of renewal. It shapes our thoughts and actions, offering divine direction. November 11th – Psalm 119:114-116

Psalm 119:114-116

Although we don’t know what challenges whoever wrote Psalm 119 was facing, it’s clear they found refuge and strength in God, placing their hope in His word. But what does it mean to place our hope in God’s Word? It’s more than just wishing it to be true. Instead hoping in God’s Word is a profound trust and belief in the promises, wisdom, and truths contained within it. When we hope in God’s Word, we lean on it as our perfect source of unchanging truth. We drink from it as a wellspring of comfort in times of distress. And we follow it as a roadmap for life’s journey. This makes our hope not one that is passive, but active, shaping our beliefs, actions, and decisions. it empowers us to stand firm against adversity, to resist the influences of wrongdoing, and to continue steadfastly in obedience to God’s commands. It’s a resilient hope that sustains endurance, enabling us to navigate life’s challenges and to live with unwavering faith in God’s promises, seeking to honor Him in all things.
