Luke 2:20

After the wonder and majesty of the holy night of Christmas, the shepherds didn’t stay where they were. They had just seen their Savior born in the flesh, yet obediently they returned to their fields. Luke tells us they went back to work, glorifying and praising God for all they had seen and heard. Nothing about their circumstances had changed, but everything about their hearts had. Even though the miracle they witnessed didn’t remove them from ordinary life, it reshaped how they lived it. As they tended their flocks, the shepherds faithfully carried heaven’s message into familiar places. Their same work now held deeper meaning. And their praise didn’t fade when the angels were gone. It followed them into obedience and everyday responsibilities. For an encounter with Jesus caused them to live differently. In the same way, we too are not called to stay in moments of awe. After encountering Jesus, like the shepherds, we are to return to our routines with transformed hearts. To go out in the world, glorifying God, and making our lives living testimonies of the wonders He has done.

After encountering Jesus, how does the way I return to my everyday responsibilities reflect what I believe about Him?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself to me. Help me not only worship You in holy moments, but also glorify You as I go about my daily life. Let my words, actions, and obedience reflect a heart that has truly encountered You.

Psalm 8:3-4

I’m blessed to live in out the country, where the sky is wide open and the stars shine without any city lights to dim them. And to me, there’s nothing more beautiful than the night sky. The quiet, the stillness, and the way the moon glows over the fields, pulls me into a deep sense of wonder. Out there, my worries feel small and God’s greatness feels so much bigger. And knowing the God who crafted every star I’m staring at also knows me, sees and cares about every detail of my life, is humbling. It amazes me that He listens when I pray, guides me when I’m uncertain, and comforts me when my heart feels heavy. Living out here has taught me that worship isn’t limited to a church building. It’s in the awe that rises up when I remember who God is. It’s choosing gratitude instead of grumbling, trust instead of trying to control everything, and peace instead of panic. The more I pay attention to His fingerprints in creation, the more my faith deepens. Because wonder draws my heart back to Him again and again, reminding me of His power, His kindness, and His unshakable love. And somehow, every time, that reminder brings peace.

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, open my eyes to Your wonder again. Help me slow down long enough to see Your glory, to feel Your nearness, and to worship You with a heart full of awe.

Psalm 19:1

Autumn has a way of putting God’s glory on full display. The trees with leaves of fiery reds, golden yellows, and deep oranges, preach a sermon without words. The crisp air carries a quiet stillness that makes us slow down and notice God’s handiwork all around. The sunrise sky, painted with soft hues, reminds us that the Creator is still at work, faithfully writing beauty into our days. Even the gentle fall of leaves is a whisper that seasons change, but God’s glory never fades. Autumn tells us that endings can be beautiful, and transitions can be holy. The harvest season points to His provision, showing that God sustains both the earth and our souls. This colorful season calls us to rest in His presence, rejoice in His goodness, and trust in His faithfulness. The world around us is singing of His majesty, and we are invited to join in the chorus. Every falling leaf, every cool breeze, and every golden field is a reminder that God’s fingerprints are everywhere. And in noticing, our hearts are stirred to gratitude, wonder, and worship.

The Lord’s return is so close, that many have shifted their focus from seeking signs to listening for the trumpet call of God. This celestial sound will herald the arrival of our Savior, Jesus Christ. And it will be accompanied by the commanding voice of an archangel summoning, “Come up here!” Imagine the sheer wonder and glory of that moment, when the heavens will resonate like a divine symphony. It will be a sound like no other, filled with the promises of eternal peace, happiness and fellowship with our Lord. The anticipation fills our hearts with joy and hope, knowing that the trials of this world will soon give way to the glory awaiting us in heaven. The sound of that trumpet will be the ultimate affirmation of our faith. The culmination of all we have believed and hoped for. It will be a transformative moment, as we are gathered to meet the Lord in the air, forever to be with Him. What a glorious sound it will be, echoing through the cosmos, as a divine invitation to eternal glory.

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming eclipse, there’s an electrifying energy in the air. People from around the country are flocking to the areas fortunate enough to witness this celestial spectacle. Mark 13:24 speaks of signs in the heavens heralding significant events, and the eclipse serves as a powerful reminder of these prophetic passages. In the midst of darkness, there’s a sense of wonder and awe as the moon obscures the sun, casting a shadow upon the earth. It’s a moment to pause and ponder the grandeur of creation and our place within it. People gather, their eyes fixed on the sky, pondering the deeper significance of this natural phenomenon. There’s also a quiet contemplation, as we reflect on the fragility of our existence and the mysteries of the universe. As the eclipse passes and daylight returns, we’re left with a sense of both anticipation and reverence. Psalm 96:12-13

Martin Luther once said, “Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.” Nature sings of God’s glory and majesty, from the tallest mountains to the depths of the seas, filling our hearts with awe and wonder. With each sunrise and sunset, with every rustle of the leaves and chirp of the birds, creation proclaims the greatness of our Creator. Let us join creation’s chorus, lifting our voices in harmony with the wind, the waves, and the whispering trees. For He who formed the heavens and the earth deserves all honor and praise. As the rivers flow and the flowers bloom, let us be reminded of God’s faithfulness and love that never fades. With hearts overflowing with gratitude, let us declare His wonders to the nations, sharing the gladness of His salvation. For in God’s presence, there is fullness of joy, and in His light, we find true peace. So let us make music, rejoice, and be glad, for the Lord reigns over all the earth, now and forevermore.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

If there’s one thing that’s a constant in our lives, it’s change. And embracing that change takes an act of courage, a willingness to let go of the familiar and face the unknown. So as we stand on the threshold of a new year, it’s natural to reflect on the changes of the past, and wonder about the ones 2024 will bring. That’s why we are encouraged to start the year with a Christ-centered perspective, focused on using all change to transform us into the likeness of our Savior. The teachings of our Lord emphasize the importance of faith, hope, and love, and trust in Him to guide us through the ebb and flow of life’s transitions. And as we navigate the unknown terrain of the coming year, we can trust in God’s divine plan. Having confidence that even in the face of change, God’s purpose always prevails. Because when we do we discover that change is not merely a disruption, but a catalyst for growth and spiritual transformation. Inviting us to draw closer to the source of everlasting grace, Jesus Christ.

For in it we hear of God’s promise of Emmanuel, God with us. As Christmas draws near, the profound truth of the Incarnation beckons us into a space of awe and wonder. The Almighty, cloaked in the vulnerability of human flesh, descends into the ordinary, making the extraordinary accessible. This divine mystery challenges the limits of our comprehension and invites us to contemplate the staggering reality that the Creator of the universe willingly entered into the fragility of our existence. In the hallowed stillness of the Bethlehem manger, the echoes of Isaiah 7:14 resound. A promise fulfilled, a love made tangible, and an invitation to marvel at the miracle of God choosing to dwell among us. As we embrace the wonder of “God with us,” may our hearts be stirred with reverence, gratitude, and overflow with love.

No matter how old we are, there’s something about Christmas that brings out the child in all of us. For in the simple awe of a child, we rediscover the true magic. A faith that believes in miracles, embraces wonder, and finds the extraordinary in the humblest of mangers. Jesus implores us to embrace childlike faith. Because only with such innocence can we enter the kingdom of God. At Christmas, the season mirrors the essence of this call, inviting us to approach the mystery of Christ’s birth with the wonder and simplicity of a child. In the glow of twinkling lights and the warmth of festive traditions, childlike faith becomes the key to unlocking the true magic of the season. It beckons us to believe in the extraordinary, to anticipate miracles, and to receive the gift of Christ’s love with unreserved joy. As we celebrate the birth of the Savior, may our hearts echo the purity of a child’s trust, finding in the manger the embodiment of divine love and the promise of eternal wonder.

Habakkuk 1:5 

Do you ever get frustrated when you do all the right things, but your circumstances stay the same? The prophet Habakkuk felt the same way. Waiting to see God work in his life he cries out, “How long O Lord?” And in His answer, God reminds the prophet that things are always in His control, and happen according to His perfect will and timing. Though we might not see results right away, they will come. For God is always at work, and His plans always come to fruition. So trust in Him, wait on Him, and watch in astonishment at the greatness of the results!
