Worry

October 16th – Hebrews 12:1-2

Hebrews 12:1-2

Life often feels like a race we didn’t quite sign up for. It’s full of unexpected turns, steep hills, and moments when our strength runs thin. Some days we run with passion and joy. And others, it feels like we’re barely putting one foot in front of the other. But Hebrews reminds us that this race isn’t random. It’s one God Himself has set before us. Along the way, we’re called to throw off the weights that slow us down. Things like worry, fear, bitterness, comparison. And most importantly, to fix our eyes on Jesus. Because He’s not just cheering us on from the finish line. He’s running beside us, steadying our pace, reminding us why we began. Jesus endured the cross so that we could endure life’s trials with hope. When we grow weary, we can look to Him, our perfect example of perseverance and love. This race isn’t about being the fastest or strongest, but about staying faithful. Because at the end of the road, we’ll find that every step taken in faith leads us closer to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our story.

September 6th – Jeremiah 4:3

Jeremiah 4:3

As a gardener, I’ve learned that clay soil is tough to work with. Nothing will grow or take root unless I take the time to break it up and till it well. The same is true in our spiritual lives. Sometimes our hearts become hard or packed down, and God’s Word can’t take root the way He intends. Worries, old habits, or unresolved hurts can tangle around our souls like stubborn weeds, choking out new growth. And just like in the garden, the only way forward is to let the soil be turned over and softened. Yet it isn’t easy. It takes effort and it can hurt to face what we’ve kept buried deep. But when we allow God to till the soil of our hearts, He makes space for His truth to sink in and bring life. The breaking is part of the process, and in His hands it’s never wasted. Every stone removed and every thorn pulled up, is preparation for a harvest that’s yet to come. And the beautiful part is that we don’t do it alone. God Himself works with us in the garden of our hearts, patiently tending us, until what once seemed barren begins to bloom again.

Reflection Question: What “hard soil” in my life might God be asking me to let Him break up so His Word can take deeper root?

Prayer Prompt: “Lord, take the hardened places in my heart and soften them with Your love. Pull up the weeds that keep me from growing, and prepare me for the harvest You want to bring.”

May18th – Exodus 14:14

Exodus 14:14

Some battles aren’t yours to fight. They belong to God. How often do we wear ourselves out trying to control outcomes, fix problems, or win wars we were never meant to enter? But God, in His mercy, stands as our Defender. When we feel surrounded, He surrounds what’s surrounding us. When we’re exhausted, He’s just getting started. Resting in His strength doesn’t mean giving up. It means giving over. It means saying, “God, I trust You more than my fear.”

The Lord doesn’t need our panic; He asks for our peace. He’s not pacing the floor wondering how it will all work out. He already knows. He has a strategy for every struggle and a promise for every pain. You’re not standing still in defeat. You’re standing still in confidence, knowing He is mighty to save. So today, lay down your worry, breathe a little deeper, and remind your heart. God is fighting for me. And when God fights, victory is not just possible, it’s promised. Let Him carry what you were never meant to hold. He’s got this. And He’s got you.

March 7th – Matthew 6:31-33

Matthew 6:31-33

We’re living in some pretty tough times. The cost of living is soaring. Many are struggling, trying to stretch every penny, living paycheck to paycheck. And with no end in sight, no wonder so many of us are suffering with worry and anxiety. But Jesus tells us not to be consumed by these concerns because God already knows what we need. He isn’t unaware of our struggles, nor is He indifferent to them. That’s why He tells us to come to Him first. To seek the Lord before our anxiety and before our scrambling to fix things on our own. Because when we do, we’ll see that He never fails to provide. Maybe not always in the way we expect, but always in the way we need. Are you struggling? Are you seeking God, or are you worrying about needs? Take a moment today to shift your focus. Instead of worrying about your own needs, pray for someone else’s. Trust that just as you lift them up, God is already at work in your life too. For He is faithful, He is our Provider, and He will never let His children go without what they truly need.

March 2nd – Psalm 32:8

Psalm 32:8

Life can be so chaotic and stressful. Responsibilities, worries, and distractions pull us in all directions, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about which way to go. And with all the outside noise, it can be hard to hear God’s still, small voice. Which is exactly how the enemy wants it. If he can keep us busy, anxious, and distracted, he can keep us from hearing the very voice that leads us to peace, purpose, and truth. But Psalm 32:8 is a beautiful promise from God. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

How awesome is that! Instead of just giving us vague directions, God personally guides us. Lovingly, He walks with us, leading us step by step. His guidance isn’t rushed or chaotic; it’s steady, sure, and full of love. And because He’s showing us the path He created for us to follow, no matter how lost we feel, God knows exactly where we are and where He is leading us. When we take the time to be still, to tune out the distractions, and to seek Him, we will hear God’s voice. All we have to do is trust Him and follow. Have you ever experienced a time when God led you in a way you didn’t expect? I’d love to hear your story!

August 23rd – Romans 8:38-39

Week 4 – Living In God’s Love (Romans 8:38-39)

We often worry about the surety of our salvation, haunted by the lingering effects of sin, guilt, or shame. These doubts can lead us to fear that God might withdraw His love or take away His promise of an eternity spent by His side. But in Romans 8:38-39, Paul gives us a profound assurance. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Neither death nor life, angels nor demons, the present nor the future, nor any powers, height, depth, or anything else in all creation can sever us from His love. This isn’t just a comforting thought, it’s a divine guarantee. God’s love for us is unshakeable, unbreakable, and eternal. Our salvation isn’t dependent on our own strength, but secure in the hands of God. No matter what trials or temptations we face, we can rest in the certainty that God’s love will never fail us. This truth allows us to live with confidence and peace, knowing that nothing in the universe can ever take us away from the embrace of our loving Father.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we strengthen our trust in God’s unbreakable love, allowing Romans 8:38-39 to calm our fears and doubts about our salvation?
  1. In what ways can we live more confidently and boldly, knowing that nothing can separate us from the love of God as promised in Romans 8:38-39?

God’s love is a forever kind of love. Nothing can ever come between us. 🙏🏻❤️

July 8th – Matthew 6:34

Matthew 6:34

Trusting God grants us profound freedom by releasing us from the grip of anxiety and fear about the future. When we trust in His sovereignty and love, we are liberated from the paralyzing effects of worry, allowing us to live in the present with peace and confidence. This trust involves acknowledging that God is in control, and His plans are good, even when the future seems uncertain. Surrendering our worries to Him means actively choosing to lay down our anxieties through prayer and faith, believing that He cares for us and will provide for our needs. By focusing on God’s faithfulness today, we avoid the mental and emotional burden of speculating about what might happen tomorrow. This daily act of trust not only brings inner peace but also aligns our hearts with God’s will, enabling us to respond to today’s challenges with clarity and strength. As we practice surrendering our worries to God, we experience the freedom of a life free from the bondage of future fears.

April 28th – Matthew 6:28

Matthew 6:28

Oh to be like the lily of the field. Clothed in beauty by the Creator’s hand, and spending the day swaying in the spring breeze without a care in the world. Although we know we will face difficulty in this life, we never have to face them alone. God invites us to turn over our worry and burdens to Him. Trusting that His grace, which unfurls like the petals of a flower, will nurture our needs before they even arise. He wants us to stop wasting our time fretting over tomorrow, worrying who will provide for us. Because our Almighty God is in complete control, and orchestrates every dawn with tender precision. So just as spring surrenders to the rhythm of growth ordained by heaven, let us we surrender our cares. And instead embrace the promise that everything we need, like the morning dew upon the petals, will be abundantly provided. Where we will find the comfort of knowing that tomorrow’s worries are already cradled in the hands of the Eternal Gardener. And worry is replaced with serenity, anxiety overcome with peace.

September 21st – Matthew 6:31

Matthew 6:31

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?”

Scars and traumas we’ve suffered in the past can make trust and surrender difficult. And the thought of giving up control over our lives and circumstances is a scary thought. But that’s just what God commands us to do. He tells us to trust in Him, and His love. To surrender to His ability to take care of every need we have. But living in a fallen world means it’s in our nature to worry. Yet living a life of worry is pointless. It doesn’t change the outcome of any situation, and only adds undue anxiety. Jesus teaches that focusing on our worries will not extend our lives by even a fraction of a second, let alone improve it. In Matthew 6:27 He says, “And who of you being worried can add a single hour to his life?” Spending our time worrying about what might be, prevents us from experiencing the joy of what God is doing for us right now.  And more often than not, things usually don’t turned out as we feared. For as a famous scholar once said, “worry about the future is wasted effort, and the future of reality is seldom as bad as the future of our fears.”

September 4th – Philippians 4:6-7

Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Anxiety and worry go hand in hand with life. Especially as the days grow darker. But that doesn’t mean we have to stay trapped in the swirling cyclone of turmoil. We have a choice. But unfortunately some people get so used to being surrounded by anxiety and drama, without it they feel incomplete. And sadder still, some even thrive on it. But that’s no way for Christians to live. Because God wants to fill every area of our hearts, minds, and lives, with His perfect peace. A peace that surpasses all human understanding. This peace is not dependent on our circumstances. Instead it’s rooted in our relationship with God. It’s a tranquil assurance that He is in control, cares for us deeply, and we can trust His wisdom and love. As long we the earth is our home we will encounter situations that will test our faith and attempt to rattle our peace. But the peace of God is a profound gift. One that calms the storms within us and allows us to face life’s challenges with confidence and a sense of inner serenity.
