Worship

July 10th – Psalm 95:1

Psalm 95:1

Worshipping God enhances our sense of freedom by shifting our focus from earthly concerns to divine greatness. When we sing and shout for joy to the Lord, we acknowledge His sovereignty and power. This liberates us from the weight of our worries and fears. This act of worship connects us to the Rock of our salvation, grounding us in the unshakeable foundation of God’s love and faithfulness. As we praise Him our hearts are lifted and our spirits are refreshed. And we experience a deep, abiding sense of joy and peace. Worship also reminds us of our true identity as beloved children of God. In these moments of worship, we are released from the pressures and anxieties that often bind us, finding freedom in the presence of our Creator. This freedom empowers us to live more fully and boldly, knowing that our lives are held securely in God’s hands. That’s why worship isn’t just an expression of our faith, but a transformative practice that enhances our freedom and fortifies our trust in God.

June 10th – Psalm 16:11

Psalm 16:11

A.W. Tozer once said, “Nothing in or of this world measures up to the simple pleasure of experiencing the presence of God.” There is great joy to be found in the Lord’s love and guidance, which renews our spirit and uplifts our hearts. To experience this joy we can engage in daily practices such as prayer, which allows us to communicate with God and draw near to Him. Worship, through singing and praise, connects our hearts to God’s greatness and goodness. Reading the Bible helps us understand His will and promises, bringing His presence into our lives. Fellowship with other believers can also enhance our sense of God’s presence, as we encourage and support each other in faith. Spending time in nature, admiring God’s creation, can remind us of His majesty and nearness. And practicing gratitude daily shifts our focus to God’s blessings, fostering a joyful heart. By incorporating these practices, we cultivate a continual awareness of God’s presence, allowing His joy to fill and sustain us through every circumstance.

Psalm 51:12

After David had sinned greatly against God he pleaded to the Lord, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation.” A plea capturing the overwhelming joy that stems from knowing we are saved by God’s grace. This joy is a deep, abiding sense of peace and happiness, rooted in the assurance of our salvation and the unmerited favor we receive through Jesus’ sacrifice. Philippians 4:4

Paul urges us to “Rejoice in the Lord always,” which speaks to the fruit of the Spirit, joy, and its transformative power even in challenging times. A joy which doesn’t change depending on our circumstances, because it’s rooted in our relationship with Jesus. Unlike fleeting happiness, joy from the Spirit is a profound sense of peace and contentment anchored in God’s unchanging love and faithfulness. This joy enables us to face trials knowing that God is working all things together for our good. It shifts our focus from our problems to God’s power and His ability to bring beauty from ashes. Matthew 28:19-20

Just as flowers spread their fragrance far and wide, Jesus calls us to go forth and make disciples of all nations, sharing the sweet aroma of His Good News. With hearts of passion and purpose, let us embrace our role as ambassadors of His love, scattering seeds of faith in every corner of the earth. As His witnesses, may our lives reflect His truth, compelling others to seek Jesus and find eternal salvation. March 25th – Mark 11:12-14

Mark 11:12-14

As we approach the celebration of Resurrection Day, many are the lessons we can learn from Jesus during this most Holy Week. The accounts of Jesus cursing the fig tree and overturning the money-changing tables at the temple, both share a common theme of confronting hypocrisy and spiritual emptiness. In both instances, Jesus reacts strongly against outward displays of religiosity that lack genuine substance. The fig tree, though appearing healthy from afar, bore no fruit, symbolizing the barrenness of a faith lacking true righteousness. Similarly, the money-changing tables in the temple represented a corruption of worship, where greed and deception took precedence over genuine reverence for God. Jesus’ actions in both cases serve as a powerful rebuke against a superficial faith, and a call to authentic devotion and spiritual integrity. They remind us that God what values most of all, is a sincere heart and genuine worship above mere outward appearances.

February 22nd – Titus 3:4-5

Titus 3:4-5

The apostle Paul makes it very clear that as Christians the only thing we have to brag about is the unending mercy of God. For He offers His love and saving grace not because of us, but in spite of us. All are wicked, and apart from Him there is nothing good to be found in any. Yet no matter how we fall or fail, God loves us. And in response, with hearts overflowing with gratitude, we lift our voices in praise to the One who, in His infinite grace, gave everything to save us. This remarkable act of love, born of His own initiative and compassion, transcends our understanding and magnifies His greatness. Our salvation is a testament to God’s unmerited favor, a divine work of renewal and transformation orchestrated solely by His divine hand. As we bask in the warmth of His mercy, we humbly acknowledge that our new life in Christ is a gift freely given, and is a testimony to His unparalleled love and grace. Therefore, let us exalt His holy name and give thanks for His love and mercy, which know no bounds and endures for all eternity.

Paul and Silas show just how great of an impact a heart of hope and endurance can have. And not just in our own personal resilience, but in reaching and transforming the lives of others. How worship in challenging times isn’t just something we do, but a powerful declaration of faith. One that knocks the Devil off his feet, and can inspire and touch the lives of those around us. November 9th – 2 Timothy 4:7

2 Timothy 4:7

One of the greatest heroes in the Bible is Paul. He was tortured, shipwrecked, chased out of town, deserted by his friends, and jailed. And he endured it all with a heart of worship and praise for the Lord. I love how he describes his work for God as a great drink offering. Ready to empty himself fully for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. All in the hope of receiving a beautiful crown to lay at the feet of his Savior, Jesus Christ. I want to be a Paul. As the days grow darker, I want my hope and faith to grow stronger. Jesus promised in the last days, the persecution of Christians would increase, and many will turn away from their faith. They’ll trade the truth of the gospel for an ear tickling false message that feeds their egos, but not their souls. That’s why we must guard our hearts by knowing God’s Word and staying firmly planted in His truth. Jesus is returning soon. And when He calls me home I want to hear Him say, “Well done my good and faithful servant. You fought a good fight, finished the race, and most important of all, kept the faith.”
