Acts 4:12

I am thankful for name of Jesus Christ by which I am offered salvation

When the apostle Peter healed a lame man, he was asked what power he used to perform this miracle. In response Peter said he did it through the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The only name that has the power to save. The word salvation comes from the the Greek word, sōtēria. It means “deliverance and preservation.” To be rescued from enemies, or spiritual rescue. And that’s exactly what Jesus does. From His unmerited love and grace, He reaches down to pull us up from death and destruction. The only begotten Son of God, Jesus took the form of a man to pay a debt that we owed. And it is by His glorious name alone, can we have the gift of eternal life. Satan and his minions try to tell us there are many paths to God, and many ways to be saved. But he is father of lies. Christ who was born without sin and lived a sinless life, sacrificed His precious blood to save us. And there is no other that can offer us salvation than our perfect Savior!

Acts 2:38 

I am thankful for the gift of the God’s Holy Spirit 

While Jesus walked the earth, He was able to physically minister to His followers. Personally, He provided hands on strength, healing, and teaching. But soon He would return to sit at the right hand of God. And so He told the disciples, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever.” (John 14:26) That Helper is the Holy Spirit. A Helper not reserved for the disciples alone, but for each of us as well. For the very minute we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell in us. There He begins the work of shaping and conforming us into the likeness of Jesus. And not only is He sent to help, comfort, and guide us, the Holy Spirit is also God’s seal on us. He marks us as His very own for the day of redemption. Our Father knows all too well how frail we are. So in His great love, He sent His precious Spirit to help us in all things!

Acts 17:28

God’s Promise – “Your life comes from Me because you are My offspring.”

There’s a quote which says, “All life is a breath exhaled by God. All dying is a breath inhaled by God.” Paul understood this well. And he was grieved when he found the Athenians, who prided themselves on their arts and philosophy, worshipping false idols. So in ministering to them about God, Paul appealed to them using reason, citing examples from their own Greek poets. He taught that we are all offspring of God. And as His children we live, move, and exist in Him. We live because as Creator of all things, God is the source of life. We move because as Ruler of our lives, our hearts, thoughts and actions are guided by His wisdom. We exist because God alone is the giver and taker of life. The breath of every new day is a gift given by our Creator. And, good or bad, we praise Him for each one. Because apart from God, nothing and no one can exist.

Acts 13:22

Did you know the word “beloved” appears nearly 120 times throughout the Bible? It’s a word reserved for those who are adored, cherished, treasured, and greatly loved. Just as God called David beloved, so He calls us. He created each of us intentionally, purposefully, and lovingly. He calls us beautiful, valuable, wanted, and His. And unlike the world who turns away when the shine fades from our star, we never have to fear losing God. His love never falters, never fails, and never grows cold. So the next time you find the Enemy whispering lies of inadequacy in your ears, remember this. You are a child of the most high God, and heir to the kingdom. There is no Hollywood trophy, no social media following, nor worldly accolade that could compare with the value of knowing one day we will spend eternity dwelling and reigning with the Lord. So wear your crown proudly! Have a heart longing to serve God, and never forget how much you are loved!

Acts 23:11

Facing a crowd demanding his death Paul, appealed to have his case heard in Rome before Caesar. Not in an attempt to save his life, but to fulfill the will of the Lord. Paul’s request would indeed get him to Rome. But the passage there thrust him straight into a raging storm so full of fury, if not for God, the life of Paul and all with him would have been lost. Have you ever faced such a storm? As believers in Christ no matter what we face, we are never called to go it alone. Especially when we set out to do God’s will. Because He is with us every step of the way. For as God told Joshua, “Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh 1:9) By first seeking the Lord and trusting in His perfect will, we can weather any storm. His Word is a mighty ship so strong, no roaring wind can blow off course. And when we walk in complete obedience to Him, like Paul we too can trust in God’s promise to bring us through any storm and safely to shore.

Romans 13:1

With the midterm elections coming up, tragic mass shootings, inflation, and gas prices, our country is in political turmoil more than ever. So how are we as Christian’s to respond? When it comes to our leaders, the apostle Paul tells us we are to submit. Because those in power are put there by the power of God. And honoring the Lord means living in submission to the authority He has placed over us. Yet that doesn’t mean we are always to obey. When the apostles were commanded by the Council in Jerusalem to stop preaching the gospel they refused saying, “We must obey God rather than man,”  (Acts 5:27-29) The Bible is clear. We are to be law abiding citizens, unless those in authority want us to go against God’s will. And always be praying that our leaders make decisions based on the will of God.

Acts 12:5

When it comes to being a powerful prayer warrior, there is none greater than a small servant girl named Rhoda. Her faith in God was so strong, all she needed was to hear the voice of Peter to know her petition was answered. After Peter had been captured and jailed, believers gathered at the house of Mary, the mother of Mark. While praying for Peter’s release, there came a knock at the gate. Rhoda went to answer it, and after recognizing Peter’s voice, she joyfully ran to the people to share the good news. But they thought her mistaken. Yet Rhoda never doubted for a moment. For she had complete faith that what we ask from God, He has the power and ability to do. (1 John 5:14) We should all be like Rhoda. Exited, and full of faith. Praying expectantly to our Heavenly Father, and being filled with joy when those prayers are answered. There is great power in prayer. For when we are bound by chains and all gates are shut, the gate to God through prayer is always open. And through Him, all things are possible.

Proverbs 29:25

Living in a world ruled by Satan, many are the threats against Christians. In Proverbs these threats are to referred to as the fear of man. Of course we know about the physical threats. But more often for Believers the more dangerous threat is the one against our minds. The threat that tells us we need to listen to the world rather than the truth of God. To be people pleasers rather than God pleasers. Because if we don’t we’ll be shunned, ridiculed, ostracized, or worse. But when we give in to such wrong peer pressure, rather than saving us, it ensnares us. It keeps us trapped in fear, anxiety, and compromise. It steals our joy, our testimony, and the security found in Jesus alone. So that’s why we need to be bold like Peter and declare, “We must obey God rather than human beings!” (Acts 5:29) Never fearing what man can do to us, and focusing instead on how God saves us.

Acts 1:11

After His Resurrection, and appearing to the disciples, Jesus ascended to the Father from the Mount of Olives. They watched as a cloud received their Lord and carried Him into heaven. And while they stood staring up at the sky, an angel appeared before them. He told the disciples that just as Jesus left, in the same manner He would come again. And this time, the whole world will witness His magnificent return. As the Antichrist and his minions gather in the valley of Megiddo to wage a final war, Jesus will once again come to the Mount of Olives. Our Savior descends from a cloud, ready to do battle. But the battle is over before it begins. Because the moment Christ’s feet touch the earth, the mountain splits in two creating a valley of escape for His people. And with one supernatural word that Jesus speaks, the Antichrist and his armies are instantly defeated. Evil is destroyed and Jesus begins His glorious millennial reign.

Acts 17:31

We’ve all heard the phrase, “Ignorance of the law is no defense. ”With all of their culture, reasoning and education, the Athenians were ignorant when it came to the one true God. And so along with the gospel, Paul gave them a stern warning. Soon God’s Son, Jesus Christ, would be returning to judge the earth and its people. And no longer would God overlook the ignorance of those who reject Him. This warning Paul gave to the Athenians, he gives to us as well. The time for ignorance is over. Now is the time for repentance. For the days are growing darker and the appointed day will soon be upon us. Christ in all of His glory will be retuning to judge the world in righteousness. And ignorance of the Lord will be no defense.
