Matthew 26:26-28

Holy communion is a sacred union with our Lord. It’s a reminder of His sacrifice and a call to live in His love and grace. Jesus Himself was the Author of the divine practice of communion, using bread and wine as symbols of His body and blood given for us. This act holds profound significance, representing the sacrificial nature of His death on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. As Jesus offers the bread and wine to His disciples, He demonstrates humility and servanthood by washing their feet. He perfectly  exemplifies the selfless love and servant leadership He calls us to emulate. Through the breaking of bread and sharing of the cup, Jesus invites us to partake in His sacrifice, reminding us of His ultimate act of love and redemption. Communion is not only a symbolic remembrance but a tangible experience of Christ’s presence among us. One that invites us to humble ourselves, serve others with love, and follow His example of sacrificial love and servant-hearted leadership in our lives.

Colossians 1:22

“He has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before Him”

The unimaginable violence Jesus suffered is heartbreaking. Yet because of His great sacrifice, we can be reconciled to God. Covered by the blood of Christ, and clothed in His righteousness, we can be presented before our Father as holy and blameless in His sight. And although horrific, the violence of Jesus’ death is a powerful reminder of the gravity of sin. And the great cost required for redemption. His sacrificial act, marked by suffering and brutality, serves as the ultimate expression of God’s love and mercy. By willingly enduring this violent death, Jesus bore the weight of our sins. And He Himself took the punishment we deserved. Through His death, the separation between God and humanity was ended. And a path to reconciliation was forged. Jesus’ violent death emphasizes the great lengths God was willing to go to restore our relationship with Him. It shows the depths of His grace and the magnitude of His plan for salvation.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

When talking about life we’ve all heard it asked, “Is this all there is?” Since the beginning of time, people have pondered the meaning of life. Why? Because each of us are born with a longing for something beyond what we can see, hear, touch, and experience in our everyday lives. Some call this a “God Hole.” A place deep in our soul that recognizes there is something out there greater than ourselves. Sadly some try to fill that hole with destruction. Through drugs, alcohol, sex, other people, or other gods, they try to fill the place meant for God alone. But those are quick fixes that never last. It’s only when we truly open our hearts to God and make Him Lord of our life, can we truly find fulfillment. Because then we will know that there is much more awaiting us than this world has to offer. Through the blood of Jesus, we have a future of glory awaiting us where we will rule and live side by side with the Lord for all of eternity.

Revelation 16:15

Only God has the ability to directly see what is truly in a person’s heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) For the rest of us, we can only judge others by what we see on the outside. So if we boldly claim to be Christians, our daily walk needs to mimic the walk of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We can’t have a bumper sticker on our car or wear a cross around our necks then act like the world. John tells us that we each have a spiritual set of clothes. Paid for by the blood of Jesus. And as His ambassadors on earth, we need to wear our outfits proudly. That means always being aware of our actions and behaviors. John warns that the glorious return of Christ is soon upon us. And when He comes, we don’t want to get caught wearing soiled, dirty, worldly clothes. But instead we want to be seen wearing the garments of love, grace, and mercy Jesus paid a ransom to provide.

2 Corinthians 13:14

As the year comes to a close and we reflect on birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I can think of no better blessing to pray for you all than Paul’s benediction to the Corinthians. This Christmas, and every day after, may you have grace, love, and fellowship. Unmerited grace is what Jesus gave when He paid our sin debt with His blood. May the same grace flow through you to everyone you meet. Love is why God sent His only begotten Son to be nailed on a Cross. May the same love shine through in all you do. Fellowship is what we can have with the Father and Son through the gift of the Spirit. May you always be led by the guidance of God’s Spirit, and follow His direction. And most of all, on this the most glorious of days, may you have a wonderful holiday overflowing with love and blessings! Merry Christmas!

Acts 4:12

I am thankful for name of Jesus Christ by which I am offered salvation

When the apostle Peter healed a lame man, he was asked what power he used to perform this miracle. In response Peter said he did it through the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The only name that has the power to save. The word salvation comes from the the Greek word, sōtēria. It means “deliverance and preservation.” To be rescued from enemies, or spiritual rescue. And that’s exactly what Jesus does. From His unmerited love and grace, He reaches down to pull us up from death and destruction. The only begotten Son of God, Jesus took the form of a man to pay a debt that we owed. And it is by His glorious name alone, can we have the gift of eternal life. Satan and his minions try to tell us there are many paths to God, and many ways to be saved. But he is father of lies. Christ who was born without sin and lived a sinless life, sacrificed His precious blood to save us. And there is no other that can offer us salvation than our perfect Savior!

1 Peter 2:6

God’s Promise – If you believe in Jesus, you will not be disappointed.

When people of old built their houses, they chose for themselves only the finest of stones. The rest were cast aside as junk, good for nothing. This is how Peter describes Jesus. He was rejected, seen as no more than a useless piece of rock. But where men saw rubble, God saw His “choice and precious stone”, and the cornerstone of His spiritual house. And just as Jesus is the Living Stone, He calls us to become living stones ourselves; valuable parts of the foundation of God’s house. Christ is our “precious value”, and sacrificed all to make us His. And when others reject us or call us good for nothing, He never will. So the next time you feel unwanted or useless, remember to whom you belong. We are royalty, chosen by God to be His very own; part of a holy nation, paid for with the blood of His only begotten Son. And while the world may see us as rubble, God sees us as the bright, shining, choice and precious stones we are.

Psalm 32:1-2

Knowing in your mind that you are forgiven is one thing, feeling it in your heart is another. But I once read that forgiveness takes place in the heart of God, not in our feelings. And God says that through faith in Jesus, along with confession and repentance, our sins are forgiven and forgotten. Our Father doesn’t want us dwelling on our past mistakes, stuck in a prison of guilt and shame. He wants us anchored in His presence, enjoying the victory of His peace, love and forgiveness. A victory paid for by the blood of Jesus. And He didn’t lay down His life for us to live a life of defeat. So be kind, tender-hearted, and forgiving of yourself. And joyfully sing like David, “Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him.“

Romans 8:38-39

Human love is fickle. The person that swears to never hurt or leave us, can be the same one to do just that. But as Christian’s we never have to worry about losing God’s love. For His is an unconditional and permanent love. And as Paul reminds us, one that absolutely nothing can break. There isn’t a thing we could ever do to either earn or change God’s devotion to us. And no plan of either Satan nor man can overcome the power of God to love His children. The children He purchased with the precious blood of His Son. We have a bond to our Heavenly Father that is eternal. And even when we reject Him, God is never unfaithful in His love or in fulfilling His promises. So no matter how hard the world or the Enemy may try, no one can snatch us out of the hand of God! (John 10:29) And we never need wonder. Yes, God loves you!
