Colossians

June 6th – Colossians 3:4

Colossians 3:4

One day Christ will return to take up His throne and begin His eternal reign. And on that day, He will be revealed in all of His glory for the world to see. Finally everyone who looks upon Jesus will see Christ as truly He is, the magnificent, righteous, Ruler and Creator of all. And for those who have believed in His name for Salvation, they too will be revealed as His beloved. Imagine that! Because of our love and faith in the Lord, we too will share in the future glory of Jesus. And we, as followers of the Lord, we will come with Him in our new glorified bodies, ready to do battle against the forces of evil. Proudly we will stand by His side, appearing just like Him for the world to see!

Colossians 2:14

Each of us are born with an IOU. A payment of sin debt that must be paid. For God’s Law is perfect, and all have transgressed against that Law. And as such, a death warrant has been issued in our name. But because of His great love, God was willing to take our debt upon Himself. Knowing no one could be perfect enough to reconcile the wrongs against Him, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to pay what we cannot. He nailed His Son to a Cross of wood not just to provide us a pardon, but to pay our penalty in full. And to those who abide in Him, with His precious blood, Christ nailed our death warrant to the Cross with Him. Canceling every debt we owe forever!

Colossians 3:12

Did you know that one of the many hats Jesus wears is that of a personal stylist? As our Redeemer, He provides us with the perfect Christian outfit. Once we were clothed in darkness, eternally separated by sin from our Creator. But out of His great love, Jesus pulled us from that darkness and purchased us at great cost to Himself. And because of our relationship with Him, we are now citizens of heaven and should dress like it. No longer are we to wear the filthy rags of immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed. Instead we proudly wear the designer clothes of righteous glory that reflect “those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved.” (vs. 12)

Loving What You’re Wearing – Colossians 3

Colossians 3

I don’t know about you, but I’m a bit of a fashionista. I love looking through magazines and seeing the latest styles. Although each of us has our own personal tastes, I think we can all agree that we want to look good. And what we wear can also impact how we feel. Whether it be a comfy pair of sweatpants or a brand new outfit, when we love what we’re wearing it shows. And in this chapter of Colossians Paul becomes our personal stylist, providing us with the perfect Christian clothes. …

Colossians 3:10

Who doesn’t love putting on a beautiful brand new outfit? When we receive Jesus as our Savior, we get the grandest of all clothes. Before we knew Him, we wore filthy rags of sin. But now we are clothed in white robes of righteousness, glorious and clean. And each day, we are to put on the beautiful outfit Jesus died to purchase for us. We do this by allowing the Holy Spirit to renew our hearts and minds as we spend time daily in God’s Word. So each morning get up, get dressed, and give thanks for new self God offers to all who believe in Him!

February 6th – Colossians 3:14

Colossians 3:14

Of all the fruits of the Spirit, God makes it perfectly clear that love is the greatest. Love binds us together in Christ. It fills our hearts with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. And love allows us to forgive one another just as Jesus forgives us daily. When we remember the perfect agape love Jesus showed us with His sacrifice on the Cross, how can we not show the same to others? For if we truly have a heart for Jesus, love should flow through us as plentiful as it flows from our Lord.

Colossians 3:14

Over 300 times the word love is mentioned in the Bible. That’s because of all the virtues God wants us to have, love is the most important. Love is the virtue that brings unity not division. It is one of the greatest fruits of the Spirit, and one of the greatest characteristic of a Christian. For we worship a God that doesn’t just love, He is love. And the love and grace He so generously bestows upon us, we should be extending to those around us. So today and everyday, love! Love God, love yourself, and love others!

December 30th – Colossians 3:15

Colossians 3:15

When we receive Jesus as our Savior, wonderful things begin to happen. First, we become adopted members of God’s family. Next, the Holy Spirit enters and gets to work transforming us into the likeness of Jesus. He begins by softening the rough edges of our heart, and fills it with the joy, love, and peace of Christ. A peace we are to let reign in our lives, and a peace we are to extend especially to fellow Believers. And out of thankfulness for the grace shown to us, we need to show the peace of Christ to a world that is anything but.

Colossians  3:16

God never intended the Christian walk to be a solo one. We are all members of a divine family, and us such we are meant for fellowship with one another. Why? Because a big part of growing in our relationship with the Lord depends on the encouragement, love, grace, and teaching from other Believers. We are brothers and sisters in Christ, that make up God’s heavenly choir. A choir which sings in harmony together, songs that spring forth from hearts overflowing with thankfulness for all the Lord does and all He is.

Colossians 3:15

The current division, anger, and confusion surrounding the presidential election are par for the course in this year of 2020. And if there’s one word that can’t be used to describe these past months, it’s definitely peaceful. Yet no matter the discord surrounding us, as members of the body of Christ, we can find peace in a world that is anything but. For when we surrender our lives to Jesus, and lay our worries at His feet, the Lord washes away the fear and worry in our hearts, flooding it with His peace, and love. Thank you Jesus for Your calming grace.
