Comfort

April 18th – Psalm 16:11

Psalm 16:11

Spring is a season of joy as nature awakens, replacing the dull and grey with a palette of beautiful colors. And like the earth which bursts forth with blossoms, our souls too rejoice in the promise of brighter days ahead. As we bask in the warmth of the sun and witness nature’s glorious transformation, let us also embrace the joy that springs forth from knowing God. For just as the beauty of spring fills our hearts with delight, so too does the presence of God bring an abiding joy that transcends any and all earthly pleasures. For true and lasting happiness can’t be found in anything this world can offer. Instead, it can be found in God alone. So today and everyday, let us embrace the joy that comes from abiding in His presence. Where we find comfort and strength in His unconditional, and unfailing love. As we rejoice in the hope He provides, may our hearts overflow with gratitude, and our spirits soar with anticipation for the blessings that lie ahead on our glorious journey of faith.

April 9th – Romans 8:23

Romans 8:23

When it comes to the Lord’s return A.W. Tozer once said, “When He returns is not as important as the fact that we are ready for Him when He does return.” As sons and daughters of God, we are recipients of His divine promise. A promise of the triumphant return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many believe that we are indeed the last generation, and are living in the last days. So let us not falter in our vigil, but rather let our spirits soar with fervent expectation, anchored in the unwavering hope of His grace. With patient endurance, steadfast and resolute, may we navigate the trials of this life, knowing that our redemption draws near. For in the darkest hour when shadows loom large and the attacks of the Enemy relentless, it is our faith that sustains us, and our hope that guides us through the trials. So with a united voice may we cry out, “Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!” And with heads held high and hearts ablaze, may we stand firm. Because the day of our Lord’s return draws ever closer, and in His promise we find our comfort and our strength.

March 8th – Luke 24:27

Luke 24:27

As Christian’s we have the comfort and joy of knowing we never walk alone. For as He did with His disciples, Jesus walks beside us, revealing Himself in wonderful and amazing ways. On the road to Emmaus, the disciples were broken hearted and confused at the death of Jesus. As they journeyed, the Lord joined them incognito, talking with them and revealing the mysteries of Scripture about Himself. It wasn’t until they sat down to share a meal, that their eyes were fully opened to recognize their beloved Friend and Savior. And just like He revealed Himself to the disciples through the Scriptures and the breaking of bread, Jesus continues to reveal Himself to us today through His Word and sacraments. When we study the Scriptures, and partake in the Lord’s Supper, He opens our eyes to His presence, truth, and grace. So as we walk our own road to Emmaus, may we each be attuned to His voice and presence, allowing Him to unveil His truth and resurrection power in our own lives.

Philippians 1:6

Facing the unknown of change is a scary proposition. And going it alone makes change that much more daunting. But for those who put their faith in Jesus, we never face anything by ourselves. Because in the journey of change, we are never alone. For the Lord walks beside us, guiding, comforting, and transforming us every step of the way. January 7th – Matthew 11:28

Matthew 11:28

Did you know self care is an 11 billion dollar industry? Everywhere we go we are in inundated with a miracle pill, potion, meditation, or exercise. But the best care for our mind, souls, and body doesn’t cost a thing. It’s a free gift offered by God to those who rest in the Lord. An invitation in the hustle and bustle of life to take a moment to pause and surrender our burdens at His feet. Because resting in the Lord isn’t just a physical break, but a spiritual renewal. A chance to exchange our weariness for His yoke, which is easy, and His burden, which is light. Resting in the Lord’s embrace allows our souls to breathe, rejuvenating our spirits and preparing our hearts for the days ahead. It’s an acknowledgment that true strength is found in the quiet moments of communion with Him, where His peace sustains us through life’s journey. So in a world that advocates self care, the greatest comfort is found not in the noise of the world but in the quiet rest of the soul. Where the gentle embrace of the Lord becomes the ultimate form of care.

December 28th – Romans 6:14

Romans 6:14

As the year draws to a close, looking back I can see the countless times I saw God’s hand at work in my life. And the many moments I experienced His wonderful favor. An unmerited, amazing grace, that sustained, comforted, and guided me. God’s grace is a beautiful expression of His awesome love that redeems and frees us. It’s a gift that transforms our lives. One that breaks the chains of sin and ushers in the freedom found only in Jesus. I love what Pastor Max Lucado says. “Grace is simply another word for God’s tumbling, rumbling reservoir of strength and protection. It comes at us not occasionally or miserly but constantly and aggressively, wave upon wave. We’ve barely regained our balance from one breaker, and then, before we can catch our breath, here comes another.” As we embrace the closing chapter of the year, may the grace we have received be a source of inspiration for extending the same grace to others. Entering this new year and new season with a spirit of compassion, forgiveness, understanding and love.
