Courage

December 14th – Matthew 1:20

Matthew 1:20

When I think about Joseph, the father of Jesus, I’m reminded how often he’s overlooked in the Christmas story. And how he humbly stood quietly in the background while history was being made. Joseph never sought the spotlight, yet his faith and obedience speak loudly to me. For when fear, confusion, and uncertainty could have ruled his heart, he chose trust instead. He listened to God’s voice in a dream and responded with immediate obedience. Joseph protected Mary when it cost him his reputation. And he stayed when walking away would have been easier. Joseph shows us that righteousness is often lived out in quiet faithfulness, not public recognition. His courage wasn’t loud, but it was strong. And his obedience helped usher the Savior into the world. Joseph reminds fathers that presence matters, and that covering and protecting are holy callings. He teaches all of us that saying yes to God can change generations. Joseph didn’t need applause to be faithful. He simply trusted God and followed. And because of that, the Christmas story was forever changed.

Reflection Question:
Where might God be calling you to quiet faith and obedience, even if your role feels unseen or unrecognized by others?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, give me a heart like Joseph. One that listens for Your voice and responds with trust and obedience. Help me to be faithful in the quiet places, to choose courage over fear, and to say yes to You even when the path is unclear.

October 18th – 1 Peter 5:8-9

1 Peter 5:8-9

You and I have a real enemy in Satan. The one who seeks to divide, discourage, and destroy what God is building in us. Every day he tries to whisper lies, stir up worry, and pull our focus from God’s peace. He prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. And not always does he roar loudly. Sometimes he comes quietly, through weariness, distraction, or despair. But we are not powerless. We stand firm, clothed in the strength of our Savior, anchored in truth that cannot be shaken. Each time we resist the enemy’s lies and cling to God’s promises, we remind him that he has already lost. Our victory isn’t in our own strength, but in the One who lives within us. God equips us with courage when we feel weak and fills us with peace when chaos surrounds us. The more we trust His power, the more the enemy’s roar loses its sting. So, keep standing firm. Be rooted, watchful, and confident in the God who fights for you. Because the Lion of Judah reigns, and no darkness can overcome His light.

October 12th – Hebrews 10:24-25

Hebrews 10:24-25

Fellowship has a way of breathing life into weary hearts. When we gather together with other believers, whether it’s around a kitchen table, in a church pew, or in the quiet space of an online Bible study, we remind each other that we’re not alone in this journey. Knowing life is hard, God designed us to walk together. To encourage one another toward love and good deeds. The day of Christ’s return grows nearer, and now more than ever we need each other. We need prayers, voices, and the presence of others who love Jesus. A simple word of kindness, a heartfelt “I’m praying for you,” or a moment of listening can be the spark that reignites someone’s hope. Every time we choose connection over isolation, we reflect the heart of Christ. And when we come together in faith, something powerful happens. Our strength multiplies, our courage deepens, and our love becomes contagious. This is what it means to be the body of Christ. Linked arm in arm, lifting each other up as we wait for the day we’ll meet our Lord face to face.

May 17th – Psalm 46:10

Psalm 46:10

Stillness isn’t the absence of noise. It’s the quiet trust that settles deep in your soul when you stop trying to hold everything together. It’s not passive or weak, it’s powerful. Stillness before God is strength wrapped in surrender. Be still and know that I am God is more than a verse. It’s a lifeline. In a world that applauds hustle and hurry, stillness is a bold declaration that God is enough. It’s unclenching your fists, exhaling the pressure, and choosing to sit with the One who already has the answers.

Stillness is where striving stops and worship begins. It’s where God reminds you that you’re not forgotten, not alone, and not expected to carry what only He can. In His presence, stillness becomes sacred ground. You stop talking and start listening. You realize He’s not pacing the floor. He’s seated on the throne. And when you sit with Him, peace replaces panic, and courage begins to rise. Let the stillness lead you back to His heart, because that’s where your strength is found.

May 4th – Psalm 56:3

Psalm 56:3

Fear doesn’t always knock politely. It barges in, flips on all the lights, and throws a party in your chest. But just because fear shows up doesn’t mean it gets to stay. Faith is what decides who has the last word. Some days, trusting God feels like trying to drink coffee without spilling it during an earthquake. Messy but possible. Other days, it’s like resting in a hammock under a sky full of peace. Faith isn’t about never feeling afraid. It’s about leaning into the One who holds it all, even when your world feels shaky. The “what ifs” scream for attention, but God gently reminds us, “I’m here, and I’ve got this.” We don’t have to fake being fearless, we just need to be faithful. So even when our hands tremble, our hearts can stand firm. Let fear knock if it must, but don’t open the door without inviting trust in too. Courage isn’t the absence of fear, it’s choosing to trust anyway. So breathe deep, step forward, and let faith write the story.

April 25th – Romans 8:11

Romans 8:11

The same power that raised Jesus from the grave now lives in us. How awesome is that? Easter is the celebration of that power bursting forth from the tomb, and now, it indwells every believer. This means we don’t walk alone, we walk empowered. When life knocks us down, that resurrection power lifts us up. When we feel weak, it strengthens us. When fear grips our hearts, it whispers courage. The tomb is empty, but our hearts are full. Filled with God’s Holy Spirit, overflowing us with hope. We are no longer bound by death, sin, or shame.

New life means new purpose, new joy, and a new way to live. Because Jesus lives, we rise too. And not just someday in eternity, but today, right now. He gives us strength for each challenge, grace for every failure, and hope that never dies. This Easter, may we truly believe that the power that rolled the stone away is alive in us, breathing life into dry places. Let’s walk in that power, love in that power, and live each day as a reflection of the One who conquered death. We were made to rise.

April 24th – Acts 2:1-4

Acts 2:1-4

The disciples were waiting just as Jesus told them. Hearts full of hope, hands lifted in prayer, their eyes searched the skies. Then suddenly, Heaven touched Earth. A sound like rushing wind filled the room, and what seemed like tongues of fire rested on each of them. In Acts 2:1–4, the promise of power became a reality. The Holy Spirit came not just to comfort, but to equip. To ignite hearts. To send ordinary men and women into the world with extraordinary boldness. That same Spirit still moves in us today. He gives us words when we feel weak. Strength when we are tired. Courage when fear tries to settle in. Easter is not just a story we remember. Instead, it’s a power we carry. So what are we waiting for? Let’s go, filled with the fire of Heaven and the message of resurrection hope. Let’s share the saving message of the Good News found in Christ alone!

April 13th – Matthew 26:39

Matthew 26:39

In the quiet darkness of Gethsemane, Jesus fell to His knees with a soul overwhelmed with sorrow. He knew what was coming. The betrayal, the pain, and the Cross. Yet still, He prayed, “Not as I will, but as You will.” In that moment love triumphed over fear, and surrender was all that mattered. Jesus didn’t just teach obedience, He lived it, to the point of death. And He did it for us. His “yes” in the garden became our doorway to grace.

Easter isn’t just a story of resurrection, it’s the ultimate picture of surrender. Are we willing to lay down our comforts, our plans, our pride, to say, “Your will, not mine”? Following Jesus means walking the same path of surrender. It means trusting God even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. When our hearts ache and our faith feels weak, we look to Jesus and remember He’s already walked the road before us. He knows what it means to wrestle and weep and still obey. May we find courage in Christ’s example, and strength in His Spirit, to live lives that echo His prayer. “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

March 14th – Deuteronomy 31:6

Deuteronomy 31:6

Anxiety has become an epidemic. Everywhere we turn, people are weighed down by fear. Fear of the future, fear of failure, fear of not having enough, fear of being alone. The world is desperate for courage. But the courage we seek doesn’t come from within us, it comes from trusting the One who holds it all together. I’ve had moments where fear tried to paralyze me. Times when the unknown felt overwhelming, and I wanted to shrink back. But I’ve learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear. Courage is choosing to move forward despite it, knowing that God goes before us.

My heavenly Father has never left me stranded, never abandoned me in the storm. Maybe you’re in a season where fear is screaming louder than faith, where the weight of uncertainty feels unbearable. But you don’t have to carry it alone. God is with you, steadying you, strengthening you, and leading you forward. Even when we don’t see a way, He is already making one. Fear may try to hold you back, but trust in Him will push you forward. For you are never alone, God is always going before you.

September 17th – Proverbs 17:17

Week 3 – Wisdom In Friendship (Proverbs 17:17)

It’s a proven fact. People need people. And king Solomon teaches us the value of godly friendships, by reminding us that a true friend loves at all times and is like a brother born for adversity. In a world that often promotes selfishness and shallow connections, godly friendships stand apart as a source of strength, comfort, and encouragement. Having friends who walk with the Lord helps us stay accountable, grow in faith, and face life’s challenges with courage. A wise person surrounds themselves with those who reflect God’s love. People seeking to build each other up rather than tear each other down. Nurturing these relationships requires intentionality. That means praying for one another, sharing burdens, and offering words of encouragement rooted in Scripture. When we uplift others, we reflect the heart of Christ, who calls us to bear one another’s burdens and rejoice with those who rejoice. True godly friendships are a gift that requires care, wisdom, and love, helping us grow in our walk with God.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we intentionally nurture and strengthen our relationships with godly friends to ensure they reflect the love and wisdom of Christ?
  2.  In what ways can we offer support and encouragement to others, especially during times of adversity, to live out the truth of Proverbs 17:17?

A true friend loves at all times, but a godly friend lifts you closer to heaven. 🙏🏻❤️
