Foundation

April 10th – 2 Colossians 2:6-7

2 Colossians 2:6-7

Just as sturdy trees anchor themselves with deep roots to weather the fiercest storms, let us root ourselves in the unwavering foundation of Christ. In Colossians the apostle Paul uses the example of rooted trees to urge us to be firmly rooted and built up in Jesus, who is our foundation against life’s trials and tribulations. Because as we nurture our faith, like the roots of a mighty tree, we will find ourselves strengthened by God’s grace, and unwavering in our commitment to His teachings. And as our roots dig deeper into the richness of His word and love, we’ll have everything we need to withstand whatever this world and the Enemy throws our way. So with each passing day, may our connection to Christ deepen, and may our trust in His promises be unbreakable. Like branches stretching towards the sun, may our hearts reach out in gratitude, abounding in thanksgiving for the blessings He bestows upon us. Rooted in Christ, let us grow in His likeness, spreading His love and compassion to all who cross our path.

February 10th – Ephesians 2:4-5

Ephesians 2:4-5

Even when we were eternally separated from God and dead in our sins, He loved us. So much so, that from the richness of His mercy and His unconditional love, God made us alive in Christ. Can there be a more beautiful truth? Despite our wickedness, and because He wishes for none to perish, God offers us salvation and the gift of eternal life. A gift free for us, but one that came at a very high cost to God. And all because He loves us with a love that surpasses all human comprehension, and one deeply rooted in grace and mercy. It’s because of His loving grace, that God reaches down and lifts us from the depths of spiritual separation. God’s divine love serves as the foundation of our faith, anchoring us securely in the assurance of His unmerited favor and undeserved kindness. It is this love that breathes life into the bones of our brokenness. And it is this love which fills us with the incomprehensible grace that bridges the gap between our imperfections and His perfect holiness.

January 5th – Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 40:31

As we stand at the beginning of a new year, Isaiah 40:31 beckons us to place our hope in the Lord. For in Him, we find the endurance and resilience to soar on wings like eagles, run without growing weary, and walk without fainting. But how do we hope in the Lord? By spending time with Him each day. Through prayer, by opening our hearts and laying our burdens before Him, and digging deep into His Word, meditating on passages that speak about God’s promises, love, and faithfulness. Both help provide a solid foundation of hoping in the Lord. So as we anticipate the challenges of the coming year, let us entrust ourselves to the Lord’s empowering grace. With unwavering faith, we can rise above the trials, fortified by the assurance that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. And as we navigate the journey ahead, may the wings of hope and the sustaining power of God’s love carry us through each season, reminding us that, in Him, we find the strength to face whatever comes our way.

January 2nd – Proverbs 16:3

Proverbs 16:3

Living intentionally for God takes a daily commitment to make our goals and intentions line up with His. That means making sure every thought, word, and action, are in perfect rhythm with His grace and purpose. Intentional living involves cultivating a close, personal relationship with the Lord through prayer and seeking His will in every decision. It means extending love, grace, and compassion to others as a reflection of His character. And being intentional for the Lord means stewarding our time, talents, and resources in ways that honor Him. It’s a daily journey of growth, surrender, and obedience, where each step is taken with the deliberate intent of glorifying God and furthering His kingdom on earth. So as we stand on the threshold of a new year, let’s embark on a journey of intentional living. Let’s dedicate all our plans to the Lord, trusting in His wisdom, and laying a strong foundation for the year ahead. For when we do, God will establish and fulfill those plans in accordance with His greater purpose.

December 15th – Psalm 136:1

Psalm 136:1

I remember as a child the joy of Christmas Caroling. People would visit each house, singing the traditional holiday songs. And the most poignant were the melodies about gratitude. Because Christmas isn’t just about presents; it’s about His presence. And our greatest reason to be grateful. Gratitude should be the shining star on top of our holiday tree, illuminating the joy that comes from recognizing the precious gift of Christ. That’s why Psalm 136:1 is an invitation to embrace Jesus as the source of gratitude and thanksgiving. In the heartbeat of this verse lies a profound understanding of Christ’s enduring goodness and boundless love. It beckons us to center our gratitude on Him, recognizing that His love is an unwavering foundation for our thanksgiving. Christ’s goodness becomes the endless spring from which gratitude flows. And in every expression of gratitude, may our hearts give thanks not only for the blessings we receive, but for the enduring goodness of our Lord. Whose steadfast love is the cornerstone of our gratitude.

November 24th – Psalm 33:18

Psalm 33:18

Just as an anchor secures a boat in the midst of turbulent waters, anchoring to God provides stability and security in the difficulty of life’s challenges. Anchored to God keeps us grounded in unwavering faith and divine principles, and prevents us from drifting away from the Lord. But to be so grounded in the Lord means cultivating a deep reverence for all God is, does, and blesses us with daily. It involves acknowledging His sovereignty and cherishing the hope found in His steadfast love. As we navigate life’s challenges, this awareness becomes a source of enduring strength. Our hope is not in our own capabilities or in the uncertainties of the world but in the constancy of God’s love. This invites us to place our trust in the Lord, embracing the assurance that His loving gaze sustains and empowers us to endure, regardless of the circumstances we face. Being anchored to God stabilizes the soul, providing a firm foundation for navigating the unpredictable seas of life. It’s a grounding force that provides stability, strength, and a sense of purpose.

September 30th – Psalm 145:4

Psalm 145:4

One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.”

One of the problems this younger generation faces, is that most of them have never been taught about God. Who He is, His love for them, and the life saving grace He offers. By sharing our experiences of God’s goodness, love, and mighty works, we not only provide a foundation of faith but also inspire young people to seek a relationship with Him. A relationship that equips them with the spiritual wisdom and understanding necessary to navigate life’s challenges. When we bear witness to God’s work in our own lives and share His word with others, we become instruments of His love and redemption. This act of sharing not only strengthens our own faith but also has the potential to lead the lost to a saving relationship with God. In a world often marked by uncertainty and despair, the message of God’s steadfast love and salvation offers hope, comfort, and purpose. Thats why it’s our responsibility and privilege to proclaim His name, sharing the good news of His grace with a generation in need of His light.

February 1st – Colossians 3:12

Colossians 3:12

How much time you spend choosing your clothes for the day? Do you carefully pick out pieces that perfectly coordinate, or are you the throw on and go type? How we dress represents to the world who we are. And as citizens of heaven our attire should reflect those who have been, “chosen of God, holy and beloved.” That means throwing away the filthy rags of immorality, greed, and wickedness. Choosing instead to put on our God given spiritual outfit. An outfit built on a foundation of a Christlike love. And perfectly coordinated with the accessories of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. We are called to be distinguishable from the rest of the world, with love being evident in everything we do. So much so that when people see us in our godly outfits, they’ll want to know who the designer is!

December 3rd – Psalm 11:1

Psalm 11:1

Relationships take work. Whether it’s our relationship with God or others, they need a foundation of trust, honesty, love, and repentance to stand strong. Satan is in the business of tearing down, not building up. And he loves nothing more than to form cracks in those foundations through harsh words, misunderstandings, and unforgiving spirits. So when we flee from our problems instead of dealing with them head on, it opens the door for the Enemy to do his worst. When Nehemiah was facing an assignation threat, his friends advised him to hide out in the temple. But he replied, “Should a man like me flee?” (Neh. 6:11) Nehemiah understood that as believers we should always face every problem head on. Standing firm in the faith that the Lord will uphold the righteous. And believing He will give us the power to confront each one in courage and wisdom!

October 30th – Hebrews 12:28

Hebrews 12:28

God’s Promise – “I am giving you a kingdom that can never be shaken.”

The most important part of any building is the foundation. A strong foundation not only protects the outside from nature and its calamities, it also provides safety for the people dwelling inside. As Christians, the best foundation we can have is one built around God. For He gives us unshakable strength and security no matter the severity of the storm raging around us. In the last days, the foundation of the earth will be shaken like never before. Nothing made by the hands of man will be able to stand against the power of God. And sadly, many will lose their lives. That’s why if you haven’t received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, now is the time. For the days grow short until the Lord’s return. Yet believers never have to fear. Because no matter how hard the ground shakes, no crack or break will ever be found in the foundation of the Lord’s love, grace, and faithfulness!
