It’s a proven fact. People need people. And king Solomon teaches us the value of godly friendships, by reminding us that a true friend loves at all times and is like a brother born for adversity. In a world that often promotes selfishness and shallow connections, godly friendships stand apart as a source of strength, comfort, and encouragement. Having friends who walk with the Lord helps us stay accountable, grow in faith, and face life’s challenges with courage. A wise person surrounds themselves with those who reflect God’s love. People seeking to build each other up rather than tear each other down. Nurturing these relationships requires intentionality. That means praying for one another, sharing burdens, and offering words of encouragement rooted in Scripture. When we uplift others, we reflect the heart of Christ, who calls us to bear one another’s burdens and rejoice with those who rejoice. True godly friendships are a gift that requires care, wisdom, and love, helping us grow in our walk with God.

With 1,000 wives and concubines, it’s safe to say Solomon knew a thing or two about raising children. He understood the evils of the world, and the importance of teaching the way a child should go from an early age. In today’s world, society teaches that truth is relative and anything goes. That’s why it’s more critical than ever for Christians to give their children a firm foundation in God’s Word. This means instilling biblical truths early on so that when the waves of culture or doubt crash over them, they will stand firm in their faith. Everywhere they turn, our young people are under attack. But the Word of God is the greatest protection, providing guidance, wisdom, and hope. Raising our children with an unshakable foundation in Christ ensures they ready and able to discern right from wrong, make godly choices, and hold fast to their faith, no matter the pressures they face. And that’s not just wise parenting, it’s a spiritual investment in their future. One that will bear fruit for generations to come.

Week 1 – Wisdom In Relationships (Proverbs 13:20)

When we were young, our parents often warned us about the company we kept. They would recite the old saying, “If you lay down with dogs, you’ll get fleas.” In Proverbs 13:20, Solomon echoes this wisdom. He teaches that those who walk with the wise grow wise. But those who associate with fools suffer harm. He tells us that living with such wisdom brings peace and blessings. And reminds us that this wisdom isn’t only about avoiding negative influences. It’s also about seeking out those who will walk beside us in faith, sharpening one another in God’s truth and love. The people we surround ourselves with have a powerful influence on our choices and character. When we choose friends who live according to God’s Word, we develop relationships built on mutual respect, love, and accountability. True friendships that encourage us to make wise decisions, helping us avoid the pitfalls of regret and poor judgment. And walking together in Jesus, these friendships allow us to uplift each other in our spiritual journeys.

Hurricane season is going strong. And as the gulf and east coasts prepare in case a storm approaches, the importance of a strong foundation becomes evident. Homes built on solid ground are more likely to withstand the fierce winds and torrential rains. Just as it is in life. For those of us who build our lives on the solid teachings of Jesus, we’re better equipped to endure the storms that come our way. When trials, challenges, and temptations rage around us, those rooted in Christ remain steadfast. As a well built house stands firm against a hurricane, a life grounded in Jesus’ teachings can withstand any adversity. The storms will come. The Enemy will make sure of that. But with Jesus as our foundation we can face them with confidence, knowing that He will keep us standing strong. For the truth of Jesus’ teachings anchors us in safety, shielding us from life’s fiercest storms. With Him as our cornerstone, nothing can shake our faith.

It’s easy to fall under the spell and influence of this world. Every day, we are inundated with images, posts, and videos telling us how we should look, what we should eat, and where we should spend our money. The pressure to conform is relentless, shaping our thoughts and desires in ways that often lead us away from God. That’s why the apostle Paul calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, rather than conforming to the patterns of this world. This call means spending time daily in God’s Word is crucial. For it acts as our guard and shield against the lies of the Enemy, who rules this world. God’s Word strengthens and renews our minds, equipping us to easily discern lies from truth. It stands as the ultimate arbiter of truth, the standard by which we should measure all worldly things. When we anchor our hearts and minds in Scripture, a beautiful transformation begins to occur. Through the Spirit, we have the power to resist the pull of the world and live in alignment with God’s perfect will.

Week 3 – Embracing Renewal (Ezekiel 36:26)

Before we receive Jesus as our Savior we walk around with hearts of stone. They’re hardened against God, resistant to His will, and entrenched in disobedience. But the moment we make Jesus the Lord of our lives and accept His free gift of salvation, a miraculous transformation begins. God replaces our stony hearts with hearts of flesh. The Holy Spirit of God moves into our hearts and starts the beautiful process of renewal. Painstakingly, He chips away at the sinful layers, breaking down the hardness that once defined us. With each chisel of grace He softens our hearts, molding them to reflect the love and compassion of Christ. What was once rigid and unfeeling becomes tender and responsive to God’s Word. Our hearts, once cold and distant, are now alive. They beat with the warmth of God’s love and the desire to live in obedience to Him. This transformation is not just a change of heart but a complete renewal of our entire being, aligning us with God’s will and filling us with His Spirit.

Just like all living things, our faith needs nurturing. And we do this by studying the teachings of the Bible. Think of it like planting a garden. Just like seeds need water and sunlight to grow, our hearts need the nourishment of God’s Word to develop faith. When we listen to sermons, read scripture, or even discuss spiritual matters with friends, we are watering those seeds. And far from a one time event, it’s an ongoing process. Every time we engage with the Word of God, we allow its truths to sink deeper into our hearts, influencing our thoughts and actions. It’s like training a muscle. The more we exercise our faith through hearing and applying God’s Word, the stronger it becomes. In a world full of noise and distractions, making time to listen to God’s voice can seem challenging, but it’s essential for spiritual growth. By consistently turning to scripture and seeking God’s guidance, we build a faith that can withstand life’s trials and uncertainties, providing us with peace and direction.

Faith is the confident belief in God’s promises, even when they’re not yet visible. The apostle Paul tells us that faith is essential to our relationship with God. Because it both pleases Him and is the foundation of our trust in His character and Word. Through faith, we understand that the universe was created by God’s command, revealing the power and reality of the unseen. The examples of Abel, Enoch, and others show that faith is not just a mental agreement but an active trust that influences our actions and decisions. Abel’s offering was accepted because it was given in faith, and Enoch was taken to heaven because he walked faithfully with God. These examples encourage us to live lives that reflect our trust in God, knowing that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. This makes faith not passive, but dynamic, shaping how we perceive the world and interact with God. It’s a vital, living connection to the divine. And it inspires us to act with confidence in God’s promises.

The truth of God’s Word is a powerful force that liberates us from the deception and lies of the Enemy. When we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we discover God’s character, promises, and the identity He gives us. This divine truth acts as a light that exposes deceit, false teachers, and wrong gospels. It helps us to recognize and reject the Enemy’s deceitful tactics designed to lead us away from the Lord. Lies about our worth, purpose, and God’s love are torn down by the truth of Scripture, which affirms our value, directs our path, and reassures us of God’s unwavering love. By embracing and living according to this truth, we break free from the chains of fear, doubt, and confusion that Satan seeks to impose. Instead when we are deeply anchored to God’s promises, we experience clarity, peace, and freedom that come from a life grounded in truth. This freedom empowers us to resist temptation, make godly decisions, and stand firm in our faith, ultimately leading to a life that reflects the liberating power of God’s truth.

Philippians 4:4

Paul urges us to “Rejoice in the Lord always,” which speaks to the fruit of the Spirit, joy, and its transformative power even in challenging times. A joy which doesn’t change depending on our circumstances, because it’s rooted in our relationship with Jesus. Unlike fleeting happiness, joy from the Spirit is a profound sense of peace and contentment anchored in God’s unchanging love and faithfulness. This joy enables us to face trials knowing that God is working all things together for our good. It shifts our focus from our problems to God’s power and His ability to bring beauty from ashes. By cultivating a habit of rejoicing, we demonstrate trust in God’s sovereignty and His plans for us. Daily practices such as prayer, worship, and meditation on God’s Word can help reinforce this joy, providing strength and hope. Embracing joy as a fruit of the Spirit, we can experience and reflect God’s grace, becoming beacons of hope and encouragement to those around us, regardless of our circumstances.
