Guidance

July 27th – Matthew 28:19-20

Matthew 28:19-20

Many of us struggle with sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, feeling inadequate or fearing rejection. But Jesus promises to be with us always, providing the strength we need to fulfill this Great Commission. Sharing the Gospel doesn’t require elaborate speeches or theological expertise. It begins with our personal testimony. By speaking from the heart about God’s saving grace and the transformative impact it’s had on our lives, we authentically share the power of His love. The freedom we have in Jesus empowers us to spread the Good News, free from fear and insecurity. Our stories of redemption and grace relate because they’re real and personal, reflecting the living presence of Christ in our lives. This realness can touch hearts and open doors to faith in ways that mere words can’t. As we share our testimonies, we fulfill Christ’s command trusting that He is with us guiding our words and actions. Through sharing we become vessels of His love, extending His invitation of grace and freedom to all.

Ephesians 2:10

Freedom in Christ liberates us from the bondage of sin and self-centered living, enabling us to embrace God’s will for our lives. This freedom isn’t about doing whatever we please. Instead it’s about being freed from the chains of sin that hinder us from fulfilling our divine purpose. In Jesus, we discover our true identity as God’s masterpiece intricately designed with a unique calling. This newfound freedom empowers us to pursue the good works that God has prepared for us, aligning our lives with His divine plan. No longer constrained by fear, guilt, or the need for approval, we can boldly step into the roles God has set before us. This freedom in Christ transforms our perspective, allowing us to trust in His guidance and strength rather than relying on our own limited understanding. As we walk in this freedom, we find joy and fulfillment in serving others and glorifying God, knowing that we are part of His grand design. Our lives become a testament to His grace, and we become vessels of His love and purpose in the world.

July 19th – Proverbs 3:5-6

Proverbs 3:5-6

Many people struggle with being control freaks, feeling an overwhelming need to manage every detail of their lives. This relentless pursuit of control often stems from fear, anxiety, and a lack of trust in anything beyond themselves. However, Proverbs 3:5-6 offers a profound truth for those who follow Jesus. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Trusting in God frees us from the burden of needing to control everything. When we place our faith in Him, we acknowledge that our understanding is limited and that His wisdom is infinitely greater. This act of surrender is liberating, allowing us to experience peace and assurance that God is in control. By submitting our plans and desires to Him, we align ourselves with His divine purpose and guidance. Instead of being consumed by the anxiety of uncertainty, we can rest in the knowledge that God is orchestrating every aspect of our lives for our good. Trusting in God transforms our perspective, freeing us from the chains of control. And it leads us on a path of faith, hope, and love.

Romans 15:13

Although the Holy Spirit is often the least celebrated within the Trinity, His presence is a source of profound joy and strength. Because The Spirit is God’s active presence within us, transforming and empowering us daily. Through the Holy Spirit, we experience an abundance of peace that surpasses understanding, even amid life’s challenges. The Spirit fills our hearts with divine joy that endures beyond our circumstances, and infuses us with hope, encouraging us to trust in God’s promises. The Spirit’s role includes guiding us into all truth, comforting us in our distress, and interceding on our behalf with groans too deep for words. As we yield to the Spirit’s leading, we become more attuned to God’s will, equipped to live out our faith authentically. Celebrating the Holy Spirit reveals the richness of God’s love and power in our lives, making Him essential for spiritual growth and a deeper connection with the Father and the Son. May 24th – 2 Corinthians 11:13

2 Corinthians 11:13

Paul warns us about false apostles, deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. As we approach the last days, it is crucial to be particularly discerning about the teachers, ministers, and so-called prophets we listen to. The rise of misinformation and deception is rampant, and many may be led astray by charismatic leaders who do not preach the true gospel. Our ultimate source of truth must be the Bible, the inspired Word of God. By grounding ourselves in Scripture, we can discern between true and false teachings. The Bible equips us with wisdom and understanding, helping us to recognize those who distort the gospel for their gain. It is essential to test every teaching against the Word of God, ensuring it aligns with the doctrines and principles found in Scripture. Let us remain vigilant, prayerful, and committed to studying the Bible, allowing its truths to guide and protect us.

April 15th – 1 John 1:7

1 John 1:7

I love the quote by Dodi  Smith which says, “I suppose the best kind of spring morning is the best weather God has to offer.” There’s nothing better than a spring dawn overflowing with sunshine. So as the days grow longer and the light shines brighter, let us heed the call of John to walk in the light of Christ. For it’s in His radiance, we find guidance, clarity, and the path to righteousness. May we embrace His divine light, allowing it to permeate every aspect of our lives. In fellowship with one another, let us share in the warmth of His love, strengthening and uplifting each other along the journey. And let us recognize the profound sacrifice of Jesus, as His blood cleanses us from all sin. Because it’s through His redemptive act that we find restoration, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life. As we bask in the light of His grace, may our hearts be filled with gratitude and our spirits renewed with hope. Let us walk confidently in His light, knowing that in Him, we find true freedom and everlasting peace.

February 6th – Psalm 107:8-9

Psalm 107:8-9

Social media is a virtual buffet of delectable foods and exotic drinks. But amidst the feast of images, true satisfaction comes from nourishing our souls with God’s love and grace. For He is the only One who can truly satisfy our deepest hunger and thirst. He is the only One who offers living water and the bread of life. Like parched wanderers in a desert, we often find ourselves longing for sustenance and guidance. And in His unfailing love, God provides. He satisfies our spiritual drought and leads us to green pastures. His faithfulness endures through trials and triumphs, a constant anchor in the shifting tides of life. And never does He withhold any good thing from us. Knowing all God provides, how can we not have tongues that give thanks for His boundless love! How can we not have hearts overflowing with gratitude, and lips that sing songs of praise! And how can we not in our joy, declare the goodness of our God to all who will hear! For His steadfast love is offered freely. And in His faithfulness, we find refuge and strength, now and forevermore.

December 7th – John 8:12

John 8:12

I’m one of these people who puts their Christmas tree up early, and always plugged in. There’s something comforting about the soft glow of the lights. And no matter how deep the night, the star shining brightly at the top, chases away the darkness. It reminds me of the star which guided the shepherds to their Savior. How it lit every step of the way to their Messiah, Jesus Christ; the great Light of the world. Once we walked in darkness, stumbling along the way. But in the midst of the world’s shadows, Jesus came, born in a manger, as a radiant beacon. His glorious birth overcame the darkness with the brilliance of His divine love. And when we receive the Light of the world as our Lord and Savior, we receive the brightness of a new dawn. One that brings with it hope, guidance, love, and the promise of eternal life. The twinkling lights on a Christmas trees echo this eternal truth. In Jesus alone, we find a light that transcends all darkness, a source of enduring joy and an illumination for our hearts all year round.

November 15th – Proverbs 3:5-6

Proverbs 3:5-6

In Proverbs 3:5-6 Solomon tells us that to find hope and endurance we have to be willing to surrender our trust in ourselves and have complete trust in the Lord. To give up the impulse to depend on our own understanding, and instead give over our path to God’s perfect plan and wisdom. It means actively seeking His guidance in all aspects of life, knowing His thoughts and ways are higher. His strength made perfect in our weakness. It’s a continuous commitment to submission, being ok with not understanding all of God’s workings. Yet faithfully following the path He ordains anyway. In practice, it’s about finding strength and purpose in surrender. Allowing hope to permeate every decision and endurance to be fueled by the belief that, through trusting in the Lord, our paths are guided toward a purposeful and straight course. One that allows us to have victory over every trial, and leads to an eternity spent in the presence of God, Almighty.

November 14th – 1 Corinthians 16:13

1 Corinthians 16:13

Football season is in full force. And as a Michigander, I have to say the Detroit Lions with their first place standing in the NFC North, is a rare happening that has fans cheering. Their winning streak is due in large part to the guidance, teaching, and encouragement they receive from their dedicated coaches. God is our great Coach. He guides, teaches, and encourages us to remain vigilant, resolute in faith, and resilient in the face of trials. To never give up hope or give in to fear or discouragement. To stand firm in our beliefs, drawing strength from the hopeful expectation of a future grounded in faith. The call to courage and strength isn’t merely about facing challenges head-on but is deeply rooted in the enduring hope that sustains through difficulties. It’s a reminder that hope isn’t passive, but an active force that fortifies endurance. Allowing us to victoriously navigate life’s obstacles with unwavering faith and steadfast determination.
