Isaiah 25:4

“For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.”

The storms of life are the unavoidable challenges, hardships, and trials that come our way. And just as storms in nature can be fierce and unpredictable, life’s storms can be equally devastating. That’s why at the very first rumble of thunder, we need to run to God in search of shelter. For He is our dependable refuge. A safe haven shielding us from the raging elements. Turning to God in times of trouble, shows a belief in His unwavering love, sovereignty, and wisdom. And faith in His promise to never leave or forsake us. His presence offers refuge from the turbulence around us. And when we rest in His strength, we find comfort, guidance, and a source of inner peace. The kind of peace that empowers us to weather the storms with resilience and hope. And one that reminds us that even in the darkest of times, we are never alone. God is there welcoming us into His rest. He is our mighty Fortress of peace, light, and security in the midst of life’s storms.

Isaiah 64:8

“Yet Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You are our potter; we all are the work of Your hands.”

I love watching an artist work with clay. As the wheel spins, their hands masterfully turn a lump of minerals into a beautiful piece of art. Such as it is with us. Before God’s transformative touch, we were mere lumps of clay, shapeless and purposeless. Yet in His unmerited love and grace, He masterfully molds us. Meticulously, God works to shape our lives into works of grace and beauty. When we embrace our faith and surrender to His divine plan, we become new creations in Christ. And just as a skilled potter molds and shapes clay into a vessel of purpose and beauty, our Creator lovingly shapes us into vessels of His grace and righteousness. Through the redeeming power of Christ’s sacrifice, we are reborn. Our old selves are renewed, and we emerge as new creations. Ones bearing His holy image, destined to fulfill His divine purpose in our lives. It’s in this transformation that we find our true identity, our purpose, and a life overflowing with the abundant blessings of God’s grace.

Isaiah 43:19

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Of the many tools of the Enemy, one is his ability to constantly remind us of our past mistakes. And he does so with the goal of keeping us from the forgiveness and grace offered through Jesus. That’s why it’s vital that as Christian’s, we know the difference between healthy remorse that leads to positive change and unproductive regret. And more importantly to remember the promises of God. Including making a, “way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” This means that no matter what we face, God has the power to provide a path forward. And we can trust in His ability to lead us through life’s wilderness moments and to quench our spiritual thirst in times of drought. The Lord invites us to let go of past regrets and be open to new beginnings. And He calls us to remain hopeful, knowing that He is continually working for our good, even when we can’t see it. This in turn inspires us to face life’s challenges with faith. Fully believing that God can transform even the most barren situations into opportunities for growth, purpose, and renewal.

Isaiah 53:5

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”

One of the greatest ways God heals us is with His forgiveness. God’s forgiveness is a balm for the wounded soul. And a source of healing and restoration that surpasses all human understanding. When we come before Him with a repentant heart, confessing our sins and seeking His mercy, God extends His loving forgiveness to us. In His boundless grace, He wipes away the stains of our past, erasing the guilt and shame that weigh us down. The chains of sin are broken, and we experience a fresh start and a new identity in Christ. God’s forgiveness brings healing to our brokenness, filling the void within us with His unconditional love. And as we experience the depth of God’s forgiveness, our souls find solace and peace. Empowering us to extend that same forgiveness to others. Most wonderfully of all, through God’s forgiveness, we discover the transformative power that brings wholeness, and restores our soul to its intended purpose. A purpose rooted in God’s divine love and grace.

Isaiah 55:7

“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.”

One of the greatest lies of the Enemy is that we are too lost, wicked, or unlovable for God. Nothing could be further from the truth. Because no matter who we are or what we’ve done, when we call out to Him, God can and will find us. And in His profound grace and mercy, will pick us up, clean us up, and offer His life transforming love and life saving forgiveness. We are all His children, and God longs to have a close, personal relationship with each of us. That’s why He calls us to forsake our wicked ways and come back to Him. To experience true freedom and healing that comes from the Lord alone. God’s forgiveness is a profound and transformative blessing. It’s a divine gift of love and mercy that transcends human understanding. And a gift freely given, not because we deserve it, but because of God’s infinite grace. It’s a beacon of hope that reminds us that no matter how far we’ve strayed or deeply we’ve fallen, there is always a path back to our loving Father.

Isaiah 43:25

When someone wrongs us and then genuinely apologizes, the Bible tells us to forgive them immediately. Hard enough. But then God goes one step further and calls us to not only forgive, but to forget. Offering the same complete forgiveness to others that He offers us each day. Because few things are more powerful and transformative than forgiveness. Especially God’s. When we genuinely repent and seek His forgiveness, the Lord offers it freely, and treats us as if our sins never happened. He doesn’t hold our past sins against us or use them as a basis for punishment. And He doesn’t want us to do that to others. God’s forgiveness is an act of divine love and grace, and it brings about reconciliation between us and Him. How thankful are we that out of His unending mercy, God chooses not to bring them up again to condemn us. Instead He grants us a fresh start and invites us into a restored relationship with Him.

Isaiah 65:17

When my Grandma was diagnosed with dementia, it was painful to watch as she tried to hold on to precious memories. Memories can be both a blessing and a curse. Some fill our hearts with joy while others bring tears to our eyes. One day God promises to create a new heaven and a new earth. And in this new reality, the painful experiences and memories of the past will no longer have any power over us. The memories that we cherish will still remain. But all things, including memories, that brought us pain and suffering will be no more. Instead we will dwell with the Lord forever in an eternity filled with joy, peace, and harmony. And our old way of thinking and behaving will be left behind. Because of His great love and mercy, God offers us a clean slate and a fresh start. One where past mistakes and wrongdoings can be forgotten and forgiven, allowing for a new future. A future that is free from the pains and sorrows of the past and filled with the blessings of His grace and love.

Isaiah 43:19

I love the quote by Joyce Meyer which says, “I may not be where I want to be, but thank God I’m not where I used to be.” Everyone has a past. One containing some mistakes and a regret or two. But God doesn’t keep score. For when He looks at us, He sees us through the righteousness of Jesus. And the righteousness of Jesus washes away the sins of the past. It declares us innocent and beloved by God. And because He loves us, the Lord refuses to leave us as He found us. The minute we receive Jesus as our Savior, God sends the Holy Spirit to indwell us. Immediately He gets to work doing something new and unexpected, bringing about a transformation in the lives of each believer. And the more we surrender to His awesome love, the more God is committed to continually work in our lives. The Lord wants us trust Him enough to throw away the old and let Him bring out the new. To receive His blessing of change and transformation. And to lead us on a new and exciting journey of faith!

Isaiah 40:31

I love this quote by Emily Dickinson. “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the tune without the words. And never stops at all.” Do you ever get frustrated when you hope for best, but don’t see your resolutions come to fruition? If so, you’re not alone. When it comes to making changes, for those who go it on their own, the outcome is almost always certain failure. Because no matter how good are our intentions, the human spirit is weak, and change is hard. But when we team up with God, and walk in His strength, the impossible becomes possible. And the unattainable, attainable. For not only does the Lord promise victory, but through Him, we will reach the finish line renewed, refreshed, and soaring like an eagle! That’s why when we put our trust and hope in God, we will never be disappointed. Because He will sustain, encourage, and give victory every time to those who call on Him as Lord!

Isaiah 6:8

Have you ever thought you washed a window to crystal clear perfection only to find it full of streaks when the rays of the sun shined on it? That’s how it is with us. No matter how hard we try, or how clean we think our lives are, they are nothing more than dirty, streaky, windows compared to the perfect goodness of God. But because of His boundless love, just like He did for Isaiah, God provides a way for our sin to be taken away and forgiven. That way is Jesus Christ. Through His work on the Cross and the shedding of His precious blood, the minute we receive Him as our Savior, the Holy Spirit goes to work. First he humbles and convicts us about the filthiness of our lives. Then He begins transforming, cleansing, and getting us ready for God’s service. No longer unworthy, and like the prophets before us, we can be eagerly obedient to God’s calling. And after our own life changing encounter with the Lord, with a thankful heart we too can say to God, “Here am I. send Me!”
