Light

May 13th – Ephesians 5:8

Ephesians 5:8

With so many opinions in the world, and just as many people ready to give them, no wonder people are confused as to which way to turn. And as the days grow closer to the return of our Savior, Paul calls us, as followers of Jesus, to be children of light. Walking in the ways of righteousness and truth. Living lives that are a reflection of the divine light that shines within us, illuminating the darkness that surrounds us. In a world often shrouded in despair and uncertainty, may we stand as beacons of hope and love, guiding others towards the radiant truth of Christ. Let our actions speak louder than words, demonstrating the transformative power of God’s grace in our lives. With hearts ablaze with the fire of His love, let us live with integrity and purity, beaming brightly in a world that desperately needs the light of Christ. As we eagerly await the return of His Son, may our lives serve as a testimony to His goodness and faithfulness, drawing others into the embrace of His eternal love.

May 11th – Hebrews 10:23

Hebrews 10:23

In the midst of a world turned upside down, Hebrews 10:23 speaks to the turmoil we face. As predicted in the last days, the lines between good and evil have not only been blurred, but flipped upside down. People no longer have trust in their leaders, in their news sources, and even each other. For anger, division, and chaos rule the day. And as the presidential election grows closer, the vitriol grows louder, pushing society further into uncertainty. Yet in these turbulent times, we can cling unswervingly to the hope found in Jesus. His promises stand firm as a beacon of light in the darkness. Though everything may seem out of control, we can anchor our souls in His unchanging truth. With unwavering faith let us stand firm, knowing that His faithfulness endures forever. And as we await His return, let us not be shaken or swayed by the storms around us. Instead, let us remain steadfast. For our redemption draws near, and in Christ, we find our ultimate hope and security.

April 16th – Matthew 28:19-20

Matthew 28:19-20

Just as flowers spread their fragrance far and wide, Jesus calls us to go forth and make disciples of all nations, sharing the sweet aroma of His Good News. With hearts of passion and purpose, let us embrace our role as ambassadors of His love, scattering seeds of faith in every corner of the earth. As His witnesses, may our lives reflect His truth, compelling others to seek Jesus and find eternal salvation. Like petals lifted by the breeze, may our words and actions carry the transformative power of the Lord’s grace, drawing hearts to Him in worship and love. With unwavering conviction and commitment, let us reach out to the world, bringing light to even the darkest corners. And while we heed His command to go and make disciples, may we do so with humility and compassion, recognizing that it is His Spirit working through us that brings about true transformation. Finally, may we trust in God’s promise to be with us always, guiding and empowering us to fulfill His divine purpose for our lives.

April 15th – 1 John 1:7

1 John 1:7

I love the quote by Dodi  Smith which says, “I suppose the best kind of spring morning is the best weather God has to offer.” There’s nothing better than a spring dawn overflowing with sunshine. So as the days grow longer and the light shines brighter, let us heed the call of John to walk in the light of Christ. For it’s in His radiance, we find guidance, clarity, and the path to righteousness. May we embrace His divine light, allowing it to permeate every aspect of our lives. In fellowship with one another, let us share in the warmth of His love, strengthening and uplifting each other along the journey. And let us recognize the profound sacrifice of Jesus, as His blood cleanses us from all sin. Because it’s through His redemptive act that we find restoration, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life. As we bask in the light of His grace, may our hearts be filled with gratitude and our spirits renewed with hope. Let us walk confidently in His light, knowing that in Him, we find true freedom and everlasting peace.

December 27th – Psalm 37:5

Psalm 37:5

As the curtain closes on 2023, people around the world are making their goals for the new year ahead. I myself am working on a vision board. A place where all my goals are together, and daily I am reminded of each one. When it comes to reflection and intention setting, Psalm 37:5 serves as a guiding light. For our greatest goal should be to commit everything to the Lord, and to trust Him in all things. God invites us to embark on the journey of the upcoming year with a heart surrendered to His guidance. And in the quiet moments of reflection, to ponder not only the aspirations and goals we set, but also to make sure those aspirations line up with God’s. As we commit our plans to the Lord, we acknowledge His wisdom, entrusting our path to the One who created the universe. In the canvas of the coming year, may our intentions be colored by trust, faith, and a genuine desire to walk in step with God’s unfolding plan. Always seeking His guidance, and making sure our goals are aligned with God’s purpose.

December 7th – John 8:12

John 8:12

I’m one of these people who puts their Christmas tree up early, and always plugged in. There’s something comforting about the soft glow of the lights. And no matter how deep the night, the star shining brightly at the top, chases away the darkness. It reminds me of the star which guided the shepherds to their Savior. How it lit every step of the way to their Messiah, Jesus Christ; the great Light of the world. Once we walked in darkness, stumbling along the way. But in the midst of the world’s shadows, Jesus came, born in a manger, as a radiant beacon. His glorious birth overcame the darkness with the brilliance of His divine love. And when we receive the Light of the world as our Lord and Savior, we receive the brightness of a new dawn. One that brings with it hope, guidance, love, and the promise of eternal life. The twinkling lights on a Christmas trees echo this eternal truth. In Jesus alone, we find a light that transcends all darkness, a source of enduring joy and an illumination for our hearts all year round.

December 4th – Luke 2:10-11

Luke 2:10-11

The beginning of the Christmas season doesn’t officially start for me until the nativity scene is set up. I love gazing upon the stable as I place baby Jesus in His manager. And I can’t help but get caught up in the wonder of His birth. Because it’s in that manger of Bethlehem where we find not just a baby, but the source of unending joy. The birth of Jesus is a great gladness that transcends time and circumstance. For in that humble manger, joy was born anew. Inviting us to discover lasting happiness in the presence of the One who brings light to our darkest nights and comfort to our deepest sorrows. How can our hearts not overflow with joy at the fulfillment of God’s promise? A newborn King who would reconcile us back to our Heavenly Father. It’s a joy that comes from having God’s presence among us, promising peace and goodwill to all.  The great news declared by the angel is a reason for us all to abound in great joy. For to us a Savior is born. Messiah Jesus. King at kings and Lord of lords.

October 19th – Matthew 22:37-38

Matthew 22:37-38

Religion makes things complicated with its rituals and rules and do and do nots. But not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A relationship rather than a religion, the teachings of Jesus are as simple as it gets. Love God with everything you’ve got, and love one another unconditionally. Purposely easy to understand, in their simplicity these two great commandments are the very heart of the Bible and the perfect moral compass to guide us through life. The darkness we see growing in the world shows just how vital God’s abundant love is, as is our commitment to loving one another. For there is no greater power than love. It brings compassion, unity, and healing. It shines as a beacon of hope, calling out to all who are in need. And as agents of God’s perfect love, we can fight back against the darkness. We can do it by showing the love and grace of Christ, reaching out to those in need, and promoting reconciliation and understanding. Because loving God and loving others is a brilliant light that can dispel even the deepest darkness.

September 16th – Genesis 1:16

Genesis 1:16

God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

I’m a star gazer. I love looking up at the night sky full of light. To see the stars twinkle, a meteor shooting across the sky, and the fullness of the moon, fill me with awe for our great Creator. And remind with of the intricacy in which God so loving and purposefully made our universe and everything in it. The sky and all it contains, serves as God’s reminder for us today. Just as these celestial bodies have distinct roles in governing our day and night, we can apply this concept to our own lives. It encourages us to recognize the importance of balance and order. We should strive to find equilibrium between the different aspects of our lives. Between work and rest, responsibilities and play, and light and darkness. Why? Because balance between our spiritual, personal, and worldly responsibilities helps us to better reflect God’s love. It equips us to serve others with compassion, and maintain the strength needed to face life’s challenges while also nurturing our relationship with God.

September 13th – Isaiah 25:4

Isaiah 25:4

For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.”

The storms of life are the unavoidable challenges, hardships, and trials that come our way. And just as storms in nature can be fierce and unpredictable, life’s storms can be equally devastating. That’s why at the very first rumble of thunder, we need to run to God in search of shelter. For He is our dependable refuge. A safe haven shielding us from the raging elements. Turning to God in times of trouble, shows a belief in His unwavering love, sovereignty, and wisdom. And faith in His promise to never leave or forsake us. His presence offers refuge from the turbulence around us. And when we rest in His strength, we find comfort, guidance, and a source of inner peace. The kind of peace that empowers us to weather the storms with resilience and hope. And one that reminds us that even in the darkest of times, we are never alone. God is there welcoming us into His rest. He is our mighty Fortress of peace, light, and security in the midst of life’s storms.
