Counting Others Blessings Instead Of Your Own – Galatians 5: 13-26

Galatians 5:13-26

In the world we live today, wealth is celebrated above all else. Our televisions, magazines, and internet are all inundated with images and stories of the rich and famous. It’s no wonder that when we see their seemingly perfect lives posted all over social media, we feel the twinge of jealousy, wanting what they have.  …

Waiting On God – (Luke 2)

Luke 2

Since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a Mommy. Growing up when my friends and family asked me what I wanted be, I would proudly reply, “a wife and mother”. So you can imagine my excitement when my husband and I decided we were ready to start a family. I picked out names, planned out the nursery, looked at maternity clothes….the whole bit. I was certain I’d get pregnant immediately. But that was my plan, not God’s. His plan involved waiting and having patience. And that’s why I love the story of Simeon. He too knew the pain of waiting, and the joy of seeing God’s promises fulfilled. …

Who Is The Greatest – (Luke 22)

Luke 22

I remember a time at a funeral and standing in line to sign the remembrance book. Ahead of me was a family with two small boys each eager to sign his own name. Taking their turns, they stepped up and carefully added their signatures. Immediately after, they began arguing over whose was the best. I couldn’t help but chuckle and feel a pang of sympathy for the young Mother as she asked in an exasperated voice, “Do we have to do this now guys?” We expect that silly competitive behavior from children, and especially between siblings, but not from men who had been walking with Jesus. And certainly not on the last night they would spend with Him before His sacrificial death on the Cross. …

December 22nd – Luke 1:45

Luke 1:45

God always blesses our obedience. Look at Mary. When the angel of Gabriel came to this young woman telling her that she would soon become pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit, what did she do? She believed and obeyed. And because of her faithful actions, she received God’s great blessing of being the one to bring His precious Son into the world. The Lord wants to bless us as greatly as He did Mary. When we too believe and obey the Word of God, He promises to reward us in ways beyond which we could ever imagine!

Luke 2:10

God sure knows how to shake things up. In announcing the birth of the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ, God choose shepherds to hear the “god news of great joy.” Back then, because of the dirty work they did, shepherds were considered to be spiritually unclean. Yet these men gave up luxuries, riches, and status, to tend their flocks. They lived, slept, and met every need of their sheep. Jesus is our good Shepherd (John 10:11). He too gave up the glorious riches, comforts, and majesty of heaven to come to this earth and give everything for His flock.

Luke 2:7

There is no greater example of love and humility than the manger in which Jesus lay. As almighty God, He came in the form not of a conquering King, but as a helpless baby. He exchanged His royal robes for simple cotton swaddling clothes, and left His heavenly throne to be placed in an animals feeding trough. There were no grand celebrations as He stepped into this world, instead He was attended to by simple shepherds, wisemen, and stable animals. And He did this out of His great love for the world and to offer salvation for all!

October 28th – Luke 12:2

Luke 12:2

Throughout the New Testament Jesus warns of the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. They were big on talking the talk, but not walking the walk. They hid behind masks of righteousness while living lives of sin. They became detestable to the Lord, for the hypocrisy of their words and actions caused others to turn away from the faith. But Jesus warns that no one can hide from God. He sees behind the mask. And everything once concealed will be one day be laid bare by His revealing light.
