June 1st – Matthew 24:36

Matthew 24:36

Many have unsuccessfully tried to predict the time when the Lord will return. But Jesus Himself tells us that no one knows that exact day and hour but God. For as Acts 1:7 tells us, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority.” So instead of throwing around false predictions, we should instead  be living on alert, ready for His return. We are to keep working for God’s kingdom while recognizing the signs and seasons of the approaching times. And we are to keep preparing ourselves as a bride lovingly prepares for her bridegroom. Until that glorious day when Jesus calls us home.

May 21st – Philippians 2:3

Philippians 2:3

In the greatest example of humility, Jesus left His glorious throne in heaven to be ridiculed, persecuted, tortured, and crucified. He set aside His royalty to redeem all who call Him Lord. Such selflessness, grace, and sacrifice stands as a model for all Christians. Instead of focusing on ourselves, our needs and wants, we are to put others best interests before our own. Now that doesn’t mean thinking less of ourselves, but rather thinking of ourselves less. If we truly abide in Jesus, then we should follow His golden rule. “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)

Binding The Devil – Matthew 16

Matthew 16

The recent Presidential election has definitely brought to a head the many divisions our country suffers.  The climate today is filled with anger, hate, and violence.  Especially towards Christians and the core beliefs of the Church.  And such a climate is one that the devil revels in.  Everywhere you look you see the work of Satan.  And as he knows the return of Jesus is near, he is ramping up his attacks.  …

Living Free from Anxiety – Matthew 6

Matthew 6

Do you suffer with anxiety and worry? You’re not alone. But God doesn’t want us living in a state of stress, and instead wants us to be filled with His perfect peace. In His Sermon on the Mount Jesus told the crowds, “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’….Do not worry about tomorrow.” (Matt. 6:31,34) …

February 13th – Matthew 22:37

Matthew 22:37

When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus’ answer was simple. Love. Love for God followed by love for others. Because love is the fulfillment of the law, and the very foundation of the gospel. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) Out of overflowing hearts of thankfulness, how can we not love God with our entire mind, bodies, and souls! For to Him only goes the glory and it is He who alone is worthy of our worship and devotion!

February 7th – Matthew 5:44

Matthew 5:44

Loving those who love us is easy. But Jesus calls us to go beyond that and love those who are against us. The Lord came and suffered horrible persecution at the hands of those He came to save. Yet even with His dying breath He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34) Christ came to love the unlovable, including us. And out of thankfulness for His unmerited love, we too need to extend that same love to others. And who knows. Someday the one you call your enemy, may just turn out to be come your greatest friend in Christ!

What A Friend We Have In Jesus – (Matthew 26)

Matthew 26

“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!  What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.” This hymn by Joseph M. Scriven, is one of my absolute favorites. It always brings up wonderful memories of my Grandmother and her sisters gathered around the organ singing with glee. And it’s also the first thing that enters my mind when I read Matthew chapter 26. …

Rest in Jesus – (Matthew 11)

Matthew  11

“Life is difficult for everyone; everyone has bad days. Everyone has trouble in their life because it doesn’t matter how rich you are, sickness, trouble, worry, and love; these things will mess with you at every level of life.” …Domhnall Gleeson

Sometimes it seems life has a way of kicking us when we’re down. And just when we think we can’t get any lower, we get kicked again. Setbacks, failure, and tragedy are a part of life. No matter who you are, there’s no way around it. But even in our times of deepest despair, we can can find comfort and rest through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. …

Has Jesus Disappointed You? – (Matthew 21)

Matthew 21

Have you ever been disappointed by Jesus? You’re probably saying to yourself right now, “What!? Of course not!” But if we’re truly being honest, wouldn’t the answer be yes? Maybe it’s something that you’ve really wanted or deserved that you didn’t receive. Perhaps you’ve been in a situation that wasn’t resolved to your expectations. Whatever the reason, if you’ve ever felt the sting of disappointment you are not alone. …

Do Not Worry About Tomorrow – Matthew 6:25-34

Matthew 6

Fear and anxiety are powerful tools of the enemy. For God did not design us to be anxious or worried. In His Sermon on the Mount Jesus told the crowds, “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’….Do not worry about tomorrow.” (Matt. 6:31,34) …
