Needs

May 14th – Philippians 4:19

Philippians 4:19

There’s something deeply reassuring about knowing that God, not our job, bank account, or own strength, is our Provider. He promises to meet all our needs, and He’s never failed to follow through. That includes not only our physical needs like food, shelter, and stability, but also our heart needs. Like peace when we’re anxious, hope when we’re tired, and comfort when we’re hurting.

Where God guides, He provides. He doesn’t send us on a path and leave us to fend for ourselves. He walks with us, supplying just what we need, just when we need it. You may not see the provision yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s not on the way. God’s provision isn’t always flashy or fast, but it’s always faithful. He knows what you’re carrying. He knows what you lack. And He’s not overwhelmed by your empty hands. So today, rest in this truth. You are not forgotten, and you are not alone. The One who called you will also carry you.

April 28th – Matthew 6:28

Matthew 6:28

Oh to be like the lily of the field. Clothed in beauty by the Creator’s hand, and spending the day swaying in the spring breeze without a care in the world. Although we know we will face difficulty in this life, we never have to face them alone. God invites us to turn over our worry and burdens to Him. Trusting that His grace, which unfurls like the petals of a flower, will nurture our needs before they even arise. He wants us to stop wasting our time fretting over tomorrow, worrying who will provide for us. Because our Almighty God is in complete control, and orchestrates every dawn with tender precision. So just as spring surrenders to the rhythm of growth ordained by heaven, let us we surrender our cares. And instead embrace the promise that everything we need, like the morning dew upon the petals, will be abundantly provided. Where we will find the comfort of knowing that tomorrow’s worries are already cradled in the hands of the Eternal Gardener. And worry is replaced with serenity, anxiety overcome with peace.

March 1st – Philippians 4:1

Philippians 4:19

An old Indian proverb says, “a harvest of peace grows from seeds of contentment.”  A wonderful but difficult sentiment. Especially in a world that constantly bombards us with images of how we should look and what we should have in order to be happy and successful. Discontentment is one of Satan’s most powerful tools of the trade. He loves for our focus to be on what we don’t have instead of all that we do. But what we want isn’t always what we need. And no one knows that better than God. That’s why He promises to always supply everything we require, not everything we desire. From His abundant grace and love, our Heavenly Father is faithful to meet our needs, both physical and spiritual. And as His children, we can have confidence in His faithfulness goodness, love, and provision.

December 4th – Psalm 23:1

Psalm 23:1

Even those that have never read a Bible can recite the beautiful song of comfort written by David in Psalm 23. And its words remind me of a quote that says, “You’ll never have enough until you’re grateful for what you have.” In a world that tells us to always want more, gratitude is in short supply. But as followers of Jesus, thankfulness should be a way of life. Because although we might not have everything we want, as precious sheep in the flock of Jesus, we have everything we need. The Lord is our Good Shepherd who knows exactly what we need, exactly when we need it. And when we trust in Him, He promises to perfectly care for each of His children. The wolves around us may howl and try to lead us astray. But we are under the constant, watchful, eye of the Lord. And when we trust in Him to lead, care for, and provide, we can lie down in peace in His green pastures.

January 12th – Psalm 65:11

Psalm 65:11

With so much division in the world and so many hurting, it can be hard to be optimistic about the year ahead. But as Christians we don’t place our hope in the world, our hope is found in Jesus. For no matter the world events, the changing seasons, or plans of the Enemy, God has crowned the year with His goodness and abundance! That means whatever this world throws at us, we can be filled with hope and confidence. Hope in the promises of God, and confidence that in His love and goodness, He will not only meet our needs, but do so graciously and abundantly!
