Peace

December 5th – 1 John 4:9-10

1 John 4:9-10

Christmas at its core is a celebration of love incarnate. Love incarnate refers to the divine, boundless love of the Lord. The One who left His majestic throne in heaven, coming in human form, to bring salvation to the lost. In the quiet majesty of the manger, we encounter the profound truth that God’s love for us took on flesh. The birth of Jesus is the embodiment of sacrificial and transformative love. A wonderful and undeserved demonstration of our Father’s heart. As we exchange gifts, wish goodwill and peace to others, and practice kindness this holiday season, John calls us to reflect on the ultimate gift. God’s only Son, sent as an atoning sacrifice. A glorious gift overflowing with the boundless depth of God’s love. Christmas is a sacred reminder, in the incarnation of Jesus, we witness the purest form of love. One given not because we love Him, but because God loves us. A love not to be kept, but shared with others. Shining brightly in a world of darkness pointing the lost to saving light of the Lord.

November 30th – 1 Peter 2:20

1 Peter 2:20

When bad things happen as a result of something we did, we understand the consequences that follow. But sometimes bad things happen when we’ve done everything right. And in those times instead of asking why, we need to accept that although not every challenge is earned, every challenge is an opportunity for spiritual growth. This calls for a unique form of endurance. One that perseveres in hope, even amid undeserved suffering. When we embrace hope in these moments, it becomes an act of profound trust. One that acknowledges God’s plan may transcend our immediate understanding. And that enduring with faith can lead to a deeper connection with His divine purpose. It’s an invitation to walk in the footsteps of Christ, who Himself endured unjust suffering. To find solace in the enduring hope that the Lord recognizes and honors such steadfast perseverance. And one He will wipe away every tear we cry, (Rev. 21:4), and replace our sorrow with everlasting joy!

November 22nd – Proverbs 23:18

Proverbs 23:18

When we’re in the midst of a storm it can be hard to see past the black clouds to the clear skies ahead. But that’s what Solomon encourages us to do. To look beyond our present circumstances, believe in the promises of God, and know that the trial we’re facing isn’t the final chapter. For we serve an omniscient God. One who sees the storm from beginning to end, and walks beside us through every one. This gives us the hope and endurance we need to keep moving forward. To focus on the wonderful future shaped by God’s faithfulness. By trusting in His plans, we build a foundation for enduring challenges with resilience. For our hope is anchored in something greater than momentary trials. And we can approach challenges with a steadfast belief that God’s purposes will prevail. Filling us with a peace beyond human comprehension. (Phil. 4:7) And one that inspires an enduring hope that transcends the ebb and flow of life, and leads to a triumphant future.

November 8th – Psalm34:17-18

Psalm 34:17-18

God wants us to come to Him with everything both good and bad. But sometimes the pain is so overwhelming, we can’t put it into words. And when it comes to crying out for help, the best we can manage is a deep groan. Yet often, these groans are some of our most powerful prayers. Because they come from the heart. And are raw expressions of our deep anguish, and struggles. They communicate the depths of our soul to God, who understands our unspoken cries. His nearness to the broken-hearted is a source of peace and strength, offering a life line of endurance when we need it most. It reminds us that in our vulnerability and pain, we are not alone. His love and compassion envelop us, providing a sanctuary for our wounded souls. Even in the darkest of times, God remains a constant and unwavering source of comfort and healing, ready to mend the broken pieces of our hearts. And instilling us with unwavering hope, as we are confident the Lord will deliver us from our troubles.

November 6th – 2 Corinthians 4:18

2 Corinthians 4:18

No one likes to go through suffering. With their emotional and physical toll, trials can indeed be painful. Yet in the grand scheme of eternity, nothing we go through on earth can compare to the incomparable glory of heaven. The pain we endure while here is but a shadow in comparison to the eternal joy, peace, and fulfillment that await us in the presence of God. That’s why hope and endurance go hand in hand. They encourage us to shift our focus away from the challenges and adversities of life, recognizing that they are temporary. And instead, set our gaze on the eternal promises of God. This change in perspective empowers us to endure with patience and faith. Knowing that the difficulties we face are momentary in comparison to the lasting hope and glory that await us. Enduring trials is an opportunity to strengthen our hope by aligning our vision with the eternal truths and blessings of the Lord. October 22nd – Psalm 37:11

Psalm 37:11

The biblical definition of meekness is often described as strength under control. Not to be confused with weakness, being meek involves humility and a gentle attitude. It is a character trait characterized by self-control, patience, and a willingness to submit to God’s will. Meek individuals are often seen as teachable, adaptable, and willing to endure hardships without seeking revenge or retaliation. It’s a quality of love, kindness, and a lack of arrogance. And for for those who live a life of meekness, they’ll receive an abundance of blessings. First we will inherit the earth, a promise that speaks to the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan. And on that earth we will live in peace, justice, and harmony. Through faith and meekness, we can partake in God’s abundant promises.
