October 28th – Revelation 2:11

Revelation 2:11

God’ Promise – “Those who overcome will not be hurt by the second death.”

We will all die once in the flesh. Made from dust, our bodies will return to dust. And while non believers fear dying, Christians know the glory awaiting us. For never again will we be apart from God. In our new glorified bodies, we will dwell and reign with the Lord for eternity. But those who refuse God’s gift of pardon, will not only face one death, but a far worse second death. The second occurs when those who reject God will be cast into the lake of fire, and eternally separated from Him. Once this judgment has been pronounced there is no coming back. A judgement God wishes for no one. That’s why in His mercy, He gives all a chance to receive Jesus as their Savior. For as 2 Peter 2:9 tells us, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

July 29th – Revelation 19:9

Revelation 19:9

My husband and I have been together for 32 years. To many that seems like a lifetime. Yet to me it seems like yesterday when I was an eager bride, ready to begin my new life with my new husband. Anticipation and excitement swirled inside me, as I stood in the church waiting to walk down the aisle. Yet the happiness I felt on that day can’t begin to compare to the joy that will fill my heart when, as the bride of Christ, I walk down the aisle to Jesus. After the destruction of the Antichrist and his followers, the heavens sing God’s praises, and rejoice over the upcoming “marriage of the Lamb”. (Rev. 19:7) A glorious union and cause for great celebration. For not only does it promise blessings to those who are invited to the wedding feast, it ushers in the triumphant return of our Lord. So as we wait for that magnificent wedding day, may we continue to grow in both closeness and likeness to our heavenly Groom!

July 15th – Revelation 21:1

Revelation 21:1

Do you ever wonder how Christians will spend eternity? John answers that question when he reveals what is known as the “eternal state”, or the eternal destiny of believers. And the picture he paints is one of such peace, joy, and love, that I can’t help but cry, “Maranatha!” “Come Lord Jesus!” John tells us that the world we know, with all of its filth and pollution, will be burned away by God, creating a new heaven and earth. And on this new earth, we will live in the glorious city of the new Jerusalem. It will be a city with a foundation of precious stones, gates of giant pearls, and streets of pure gold. Where never again will we experience night. Because the spectacular Shekinah glory of God will be illuminating every inch! And there we’ll dwell with the Father and the Son forever, serving and glorifying Him in all we do.

June 20th – Revelation 16:11

Revelation 16:11

Throughout the book of revelation you see a people with a hardened heart against God. Those who choose suffering over joy, death over eternal life, and judgement over blessing. And as I reflect on my own heart, I see how at times I have had an unrepentant heart. One wanting it’s own will instead of God’s. How I’ve turned my back on Him, choosing instead to walk in sin. And how I too have cried out against the Lord when I haven’t gotten my own. But speaking from experience, I can tell you the path of rebellion leads to nothing but despair, loneliness, sorrow, and regret. Yet when you choose to walk in faith and obedience to His will, God will bless you beyond imagining, take you places your heart couldn’t dare hope for, and protect you from the wrath to come.

April 16th – Revelation 13:8

Revelation 13:8

In the books of the Old Testament we’re told that a blood sacrifice was needed to atone for sin. And God’s plan from the beginning was to reconcile us to back to Himself through the blood of Christ. Before the world was formed, before Adam took his first breath, God knew how man would fall. Because of this, in His infinite love and wisdom, He predetermined for His Son to pay the sin debt for all. The Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, freely offered Himself as the perfect and final blood sacrifice. And He did so to save us from death and give us eternal life. “The Lamb was slain from the creation of the world”. How amazing is it that even before we were born, and knowing all of the sins we would commit, God had already provided our path back to Him!

February 6th – Revelation 3:20

Revelation 3:20

An unexpected knock on the door at an unexpected time of the day or night, always throws us off. Do you answer it? Or do you pretend you’re not home? What if it was Jesus standing on the other side? Would you invite Him in, or would you peek from behind a curtain until He leaves? There’s nothing Jesus wants more than to have a loving, personal relationship with each of us. Yet He will not force us into a friendship. Instead He stands at the door of hearts, knocking, waiting for us to ask Him in. For He knows the joy awaiting us when we abide in the Lord. A joy made complete in Christ as we declare Him as our Savior and receive the glorious transformation through the work of the Holy Spirit. Do you hear Jesus knocking on the door of your heart? Open it wide, invite Him in, and receive the greatest blessings you’ll ever know!

December 12th – Revelation 2:1-7

Revelation 2:1-7

I love “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. And one of my favorite parts is when frustrated by the commercialism, Charlie Brown cries out, “Isn’t there anyone who can tell me what Christmas is all about?” With all of the pressures of getting ready for the holidays, it’s easy to forget the reason for the season, the birth of Christ. The church at Ephesus received a strong warning for getting caught up in their busyness and forgetting their first love, Jesus. And we should heed their warning. For Christmas isn’t about the decorations, food, parties, presents, and traditions. Instead it’s about God’s great love in that He sent His only begotten Son to save the world. So may we not get lost in the trappings of the season and remember our first love. The Lamb of God who came to adorn us with His mercy and grace.

November 4th – Revelation 3:5

Revelation 3:5

When my son was seven, his classroom did a project where all the children were able to write and publish their own story. And the smile on his face when the finished book arrived in the mail, was one I’ll never forget. He beamed with pride as saw his name as author and illustrator. God too has a book. The book of life. And we will beam with thankfulness over our names being found in it. The “book of life”, is also called “the scroll of life” or “book of remembrance.” And in it contains the names of the people who are to receive the gift of everlasting life. The greatest memoir of all, God has written the names of those He calls His own in a book since the “founding of the world.” (Rev. 17:8) Those who have trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. And how very thankful are we to know we are in God’s book. For we will be clothed in righteousness and dwell with the most high God forever!

October 5th – Revelation 21:7

Revelation 21:7

We all recognize these lyrics. “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong, they are weak, but He is strong.” As sons and daughters of the world we are weak, sinful, and conquered. But as sons and daughters of God we are strong, righteous, and overcomers. Overcomers who don’t just have faith, they put that faith into action by dying to self and fleshly living. The ones who, through the power of Jesus, live victoriously over the power of the Enemy. For as 1 John 4:4 tells us, “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” And to those who overcome and endure to the end, God promises wonderful rewards. Rewards greater than we could ever imagine, and ones that will make all we go through in this lifetime worthwhile.

September 13th – revelation 14:15

Revelation 14:15

When the harvest of the earth is ripe, none will escape the mighty sickle of God. For as lovingly as He gleans the righteous, He will just as fiercely strike down the wicked. His judgement will be swift, final, and when carried out, leave none standing. We serve the God of second chances. Yet His patience has an end. For over four millennium, God has stayed His judgement. For He wishes none to perish. (2 Peter 3:9) But one day soon, the trumpets will blare and time will have run out. Even as we speak there is an angel in God’s heavenly temple. He is eagerly waiting for the time when he will cry out with a loud voice to “one like a son of man.” And at his urging, with one fell swoop, the Lord will reap the earth. So now while there is still time, receive Jesus as your Savior. Become part of God’s precious wheat laid up in His glorious storehouse, rather than a discarded tare thrown in the fire to burn away.
