Thankfullness

January 10th – Psalm 66:20

Psalm 66:20

I love how psalm 66 starts out with songs of praise to God for His glory, greatness, and works. Oh how easy it is to sing such wonderful songs when we feel surrounded by God’s glory. Those times we experience a spiritual, physical, and emotional closeness with Him. Usually it’s due to a received blessing, answered prayer, or a need fulfilled. We feel as if we’re walking on a cloud. Our hearts are filled with the joy, comfort, and warmth of fellowshipping with our Lord. And in our thankfulness we swear to never again forsake God, vowing to faithfully follow His will. Then life goes on, and it’s business as usual. And slowly our focus wanders away from the Lord. But the joyful news is this. No matter how much we forget or reject God, He never does the same in kind. Never will our Heavenly Father withhold His precious love, time, or attention. Nor ever turn a deaf ear to our prayers.

Psalm 118:24

Life has its up and downs, and some days are better than others. But each day that we are given, is a precious gift from God. The the dawn of each day brings with it fresh opportunities. Opportunities to love another, to grow in our relationship with God, and to start anew. God never promises anyone a tomorrow, so we need to live each day as the blessing that it is. Lamentations 3 reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning. So rejoice, be glad, and make today a great one!

November 17th – Hebrews 12:28

Hebrews 12:28

The most important part of a house is the foundation. A strong foundation not only protects the outside of the house from nature and its calamities, it also helps provide safety for the people dwelling inside. As Christians, the best foundation we can have is one built around God. For He gives us unshakable strength and security no matter the severity of the storm raging around us. We never have to fear, for no crack or break can ever be found in the foundation of the Lord’s love, grace, and faithfulness. To Him goes the glory!
