Luke 21:19

In a world where Christianity is under attack, it can be hard to stand firm in our faith. Especially when it causes a separation between us and the world, including family and friends. Yet Jesus encourages to do just that. To stand firm in our convictions and endure with unwavering faith. No matter how hard, or how dark the day. That means putting all our trust in God and persevering through trials. Because enduring faith, grounded in the Lord, leads to a victorious and abundant life, both now and more importantly, in the life to come. Jesus promises that those who endure faithfully, will receive the ultimate prize of eternal life in God’s presence. What greater treasure could there be? What greater joy than to win an eternity spend with the Lord? That’s why we have great hope. Because we know our steadfastness in faith is not in vain. And will result in a life that transcends the challenges of this world, and will result in a glorious reward!

Hebrews 10:36

When Abraham was 75 years old, God promised to make him a great nation. The years came and went, and as each one passed no fulfillment of God’s promise came. But instead of giving up, Abraham endured and, “believed in the Lord.” (Gen. 15:6) Finally, at the age of 100, Abraham received the son he had waited for, his beloved Isaac. But then God asked the impossible. He wanted Abraham to sacrifice his son. I can’t even begin to imagine the confusion and sorrow Abraham felt because of God’s request. Regardless, Abraham continued to trust and place his hope in the Lord. And even though he didn’t understand, Abraham endured and obeyed. And because of his obedience, God blessed Abraham, and the world, mightily. What if God asked you to sacrifice what you love the most? Could you do it obediently and without hesitation? God wanted Abraham, and each of us, to learn to wait, trust, and hope in Him no matter what He asks of us. And when we do, God promises to bless our obedience greatly!

Hebrews 10:37

With the state of the world today, I find myself crying out, “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” Oh how I long to hear the sound of the trumpets! Yet although I wish the rapture happened right now, this very moment, I need to be patiently thankful. After all, Jesus waited for me to accept His generous offer of grace and salvation. His sacrifice on the cross was an act of immense love and patience, ensuring that all have the opportunity for redemption. How could I not have a heart of love and gratitude as I await His glorious return. God’s timing may not align with our own, but we must persist in our faith and trust. To allow hope and endurance to empower us to persevere through the trials and uncertainties of life. Because God is in control. And the fulfillment of His plans is certain, even if it seems delayed. In this waiting period, hope sustains us, and endurance strengthens our faith, reminding us that the rewards of our patient trust in God are worth the journey.

Romans 15:13

I love the quote which says, “Hope, like a fleeting ember, may dim in the shadows of despair, but it can be rekindled with the spark of determination and faith.” For followers of Jesus, hope is not a fleeting emotion. Instead it’s a profound, enduring quality that is rooted in faith and trust in God. When our hope is anchored in God, it becomes an unwavering force. This is because our faith in God is a belief in His unchanging character, promises, and eternal love. Even in the face of adversity we trust that He has a greater plan. And this trust sustains our hope. Our faith in God reassures us that He is with us. Constantly, God is guiding us through the storms of life, and working for our ultimate good. This assurance transforms hope from a fragile wish into a steadfast conviction. Allowing it to persist through the most challenging of times, providing comfort, strength, and resilience when we need it most. And by relying on God, we can experience a wellspring of joy and peace that empowers us to endure life’s trials.

Psalm 11:1

Relationships take work. Whether it’s our relationship with God or others, they need a foundation of trust, honesty, love, and repentance to stand strong. Satan is in the business of tearing down, not building up. And he loves nothing more than to form cracks in those foundations through harsh words, misunderstandings, and unforgiving spirits. So when we flee from our problems instead of dealing with them head on, it opens the door for the Enemy to do his worst. When Nehemiah was facing an assignation threat, his friends advised him to hide out in the temple. But he replied, “Should a man like me flee?” (Neh. 6:11) David and Nehemiah both understood that as believers, instead of sinning against God by running away, we should always face every problem head on. Standing firm in the faith that the Lord abundantly upholds the righteous. And believing He will give us the power to confront each difficult time and person with courage and wisdom.

John 1:16

We all sin against God daily. And not just once, but multiple times each day. Some sins we are fully aware of, some we commit without knowing. Thankfully, for those who have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we have access to an endless, overflowing source of God’s unmerited favor and love. Through Christ’s death and Resurrection, we are now reconciled back to our Father. That means no matter how many times we screw up, how many times we need forgiveness, when we come before Him with a truly repentant heart God is faithful. Faithful to not only to forgive but forget our transgressions. Never again to remember them nor hold them against us. (Ps. 103:12) For His love, mercy, and goodness are boundless. And His grace is continually poured over us. Always available to help us overcome challenges and give us strength in our weaknesses. Allowing us to live with confidence, gratitude, and an unwavering trust in His abundant love and blessings.

Psalm 50:14-15

With the war in Israel and the unrest in the Middle East, people are scared. But for those who know Christ as their Savior, we can not only find peace in these troubled times, but joy. For we serve a God of abundance. One who generously blesses us and showers us with His boundless grace. So in good times and bad, we can be filled with gratitude for the goodness and protection of God. Thanking God in hard times is not just about the present moment. It’s about cultivating a mindset of hope, resilience, and trust, even when the storm rages. A reminder that gratitude is an act of worship. And a way to honor God’s faithfulness. For He is always faithful. Even when we are not. When we call upon the name of the Lord with a heart full of thanksgiving, our relationship with God deepens. Our trust and dependence upon Him grows. We can find peace in all circumstances because God is near, ready to answer our call and bestow His blessings upon us. And He is always there to rescue us, His beloved children.

Hebrews 13:15

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.”

Praising God for all of the good things in our life is easy to do. But what about when things don’t go our way? Are we still willing to give God glory in the bad times too? A sacrifice of praise shows our devotion to God, regardless of our circumstances. It recognizes that God is worthy of praise at all times, and our worship doesn’t depend on a trouble-free life. But instead it’s  grounded in our unshakable faith in Him. Praise is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to God’s holy name. It’s not just an expression of joy during moments of comfort and abundance, it can also be a sacrifice in times of difficulty and hardship. Just as ancient sacrifices required a cost, praising God when circumstances are challenging can be a sacrifice of our own will and emotions. This act of worship shows our unwavering faith, trust, and gratitude, regardless of our circumstances. It’s a beautiful reminder that in both the highs and lows of life, our praise has the power to draw us closer to God and bring His presence into our situations.

Matthew 6:31

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?”

Scars and traumas we’ve suffered in the past can make trust and surrender difficult. And the thought of giving up control over our lives and circumstances is a scary thought. But that’s just what God commands us to do. He tells us to trust in Him, and His love. To surrender to His ability to take care of every need we have. But living in a fallen world means it’s in our nature to worry. Yet living a life of worry is pointless. It doesn’t change the outcome of any situation, and only adds undue anxiety. Jesus teaches that focusing on our worries will not extend our lives by even a fraction of a second, let alone improve it. In Matthew 6:27 He says, “And who of you being worried can add a single hour to his life?” Spending our time worrying about what might be, prevents us from experiencing the joy of what God is doing for us right now.  And more often than not, things usually don’t turned out as we feared. For as a famous scholar once said, “worry about the future is wasted effort, and the future of reality is seldom as bad as the future of our fears.”

Proverbs 2:7

“He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity.”

When it comes to walking in obedience to God, one of my favorite quotes comes from Dr. Charles Stanley. “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him!” When we’ve been wronged, it’s natural for us to want to defend ourselves and our character. But the truth is, we needn’t bother. For we have the greatest Protector and Advocate of all. As our Defender, God will fight our battles and navigate us through life with His perfect wisdom and sovereign control. And not only does He guard us against harm, but also orchestrates circumstances for our well-being and success. All we have to do is surrender and trust. By yielding to God’s defense, we tap into His limitless resources, experience His supernatural intervention, and find solace in His unwavering love and faithfulness. In doing so, we find a profound sense of peace, knowing that our ultimate protection and success are secure in the hands of the One who is all-knowing, all-powerful, and eternally faithful.
