Word of God

May 24th – 2 Corinthians 11:13

2 Corinthians 11:13

Paul warns us about false apostles, deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. As we approach the last days, it is crucial to be particularly discerning about the teachers, ministers, and so-called prophets we listen to. The rise of misinformation and deception is rampant, and many may be led astray by charismatic leaders who do not preach the true gospel. Our ultimate source of truth must be the Bible, the inspired Word of God. By grounding ourselves in Scripture, we can discern between true and false teachings. The Bible equips us with wisdom and understanding, helping us to recognize those who distort the gospel for their gain. It is essential to test every teaching against the Word of God, ensuring it aligns with the doctrines and principles found in Scripture. Let us remain vigilant, prayerful, and committed to studying the Bible, allowing its truths to guide and protect us.

August 1st – Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

It doesn’t get much better than driving in your car, sun shining, windows down, and your favorite song blaring on the radio. Whether it be from the lyrics, the beat, or the melody, music can bring forth a variety of physical responses. Paul understood the capacity music has to change both hearts and lives. And so he tells us to use the songs we sing to both teach the Word of God, and to gently advise those who may need correcting. Always doing so with hearts of thanksgiving and with the goal of helping each other in our walk of faith. But most of all, to glorify God. The greatest purpose music can serve is when we use it as God intended, as a means to worship Him. The music we play and the songs we sing, are a testimony to both God and world around us. So let our song be one of devotion, thankfulness, and appreciation to the Lord. A melody of thankfulness that sprouts from deep in our hearts and brings a song of joy to our lips.

Get Behind Me Satan! – Matthew 16

Matthew 16

In Matthew  16:23 when Jesus was foretelling His death to His disciples, Peter pulled Jesus aside saying it would never happen. But immediately the Lord recognized the work of the Enemy saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.” And just like he tried with Jesus, The enemy is constantly at work trying to infiltrate our minds, bodies, and spirits.  …

August 9th – Proverbs 12:25

Proverbs 12:25

Someone once said, “Words are containers for power, you choose what kind of power they carry.” And boy isn’t that the truth! Studies show that it takes seven positive comments to make up for just one negative one. That’s the weight words can hold. They have the ability to bring about good or evil, hurting or healing, comfort or pain, uplifting or tearing down. And living in a world with more than enough critics and naysayers, a “good word” can be hard to find. Yet as Christians we are called to be deliverers of nothing but good words. To, “encourage one another day after day”. (Heb. 3:13) For as Proverbs 15:4 tells us, “The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life.” And the “good word” we should be sharing is the Word of God. For in those times when we need words of comfort, there are none that can permeate the pain and bring us peace and joy like ones found in the Bible.

July 9th – James 2:12

James 2:12

As followers of Jesus, we receive the gift of liberty. Liberty from the Law, sin, and death. We are new creations in Christ, freed from the bondage of living in darkness and condemnation. But that doesn’t mean we are free to speak and act like the rest of the world. Just because we are saved, doesn’t give us cart blanche to walk by the flesh or disobey God. For our freedom was purchased with the blood of Jesus Christ. And as such, He expects us to be His ambassadors to a darkened world, reflections of His love and grace. That includes making sure our speech and actions line up with the Word of God. For saved or unsaved, we will all stand before Him and give an account of our lives. Every word we speak and every deed we perform will be laid bare before our Creator. (Matt. 12:36, Rom. 14:12) And the goal of every Christian should be to stand before our Maker and hear Him say, “Well done good and faithful servant!” (Matt. 25:23)

May 25th – James 1:22

James 1:22

The Bible is more than just a good book to read from time to time. The Bible is the inerrant Word of God. And as such, we need to be not just readers or hearers, but doers of God’s Word. The Bible is our handbook for life. It shows us how to live, how to treat others, and how to please God. Luke 11:28 tells us that all who hear the Word of God and put it into practice are blessed. And although walking according to God’s Word isn’t always easy, it is always beneficial. Because abiding in the Lord and His Word, gives us everything we need to become doers, producing good fruits for the glory of God and His kingdom.
