Christ

May 20th – Galatians 5:1

Galatians 5:1

Freedom in Christ isn’t just a nice thought. As followers of Jesus, It’s our birthright. Galatians 5:1 says it loud and clear. “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” That means we don’t have to live tangled up in guilt, shame, fear, or the approval of others. Jesus didn’t go to the cross so we could stay chained to everything He already broke off. Sometimes, we walk around carrying spiritual shackles simply because we’ve forgotten they’re unlocked. But freedom doesn’t always shout. Sometimes it’s a quiet confidence that you are loved, forgiven, and held by grace. As Christians, we’re not who we used to be. And we don’t have to live like it. So stand firm. Don’t go back to what broke you. Don’t entertain the lies that say you’re not enough. Jesus paid for your freedom in full, no receipts, no returns. Walk boldly. Breathe deeply. Live lightly. Let grace lead. Let truth anchor. And above all, don’t settle for chains when Christ died to give us wings.

June 9th – Psalm 51:12

Psalm 51:12

After David had sinned greatly against God he pleaded to the Lord, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation.” A plea capturing the overwhelming joy that stems from knowing we are saved by God’s grace. This joy is a deep, abiding sense of peace and happiness, rooted in the assurance of our salvation and the unmerited favor we receive through Jesus’ sacrifice. When we reflect on the magnitude of Christ’s love, who gave His life so we might live, our hearts overflow with gratitude. This gratitude fuels our joy, reminding us that our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled with God. Even if we’ve lost this joy amid life’s struggles, we can reclaim it by revisiting the truth of our salvation. Through prayer, worship, and reading Scripture, we reconnect with the source of our joy; God’s unfailing love and grace. By focusing on the eternal hope we have in Christ, we can rise above our present challenges. With grateful hearts we embrace this joy, which uplifts our spirits, and empowers us to live victoriously.

May 14th – Titus 2:13-14

Titus 2:13-14

The apostle Paul reminds us of the blessed hope we have in Jesus Christ. And how, through His sacrifice, we have been purified and set apart for His glory. But what does that mean? It means that while we wait for His glorious return, we are not to grow weary or lose heart, but instead remain steadfast in our faith and commitment to the Lord. And to allow the Holy Spirit to continually work on shaping us into the image of Jesus. Which happens when we surrender ourselves wholly to His refining fire, allowing Him to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and mold us into vessels fit for His use. As we are set apart for Jesus, our lives take on a distinct purpose and direction. One which reflects His love, grace, and truth to the world around us. So let us be diligent in doing good works, eager to bring honor and glory to His name. And as we look for His return, may we be filled with a holy reverence and awe. For one day we will stand before Him, purified and set apart, ready to receive our eternal inheritance in His kingdom.

September 26th – Colossians 3:15

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

In a world where everyone is busy and not finding enough hours in the day, peace is what we crave. Jesus offers such peace. And His peace is vital because it serves as a divine compass in our lives. In times of confusion, the peace of Christ brings clarity, calms our anxieties, and guides us toward decisions and actions that align with God’s will. By letting this peace be our guide, we cultivate harmony in our relationships. We experience inner serenity and walk in the path of God’s purpose for our lives. With gratitude in our hearts, we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for the blessings in our lives and for God’s role in them. Moreover, we are urged to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, guiding our thoughts, actions, and worship. Whether in our daily interactions or in the moments of solitude, these verses remind us that living a Christ-centered life involves a deliberate and continual practice of gratitude, peace, and devotion. Ultimately allowing the name of the Lord to be glorified in all we do.

April 30 – John 20:16

John 20:16

I love the imagery of Jesus as our Good Shepherd. And how each of us knows His voice when He calls our name. It was Mary’s name, spoken by the Lord, which opened her eyes to the truth. And upon seeing the truth, she fell at the feet of Jesus holding tightly and refusing to let go. For she wasn’t about to lose Him again! But gently Jesus rebuked Mary. Telling her not to cling to Him for He had not yet ascended to the Father. Not trying to be harsh, the Lord was teaching Mary, and us, that no longer would He be known by sight or by touch. But rather by faith. From them on, all who followed Christ were to rely on their trust and belief in Him and His teachings to guide their hearts and lives. Oh how wonderful it would to see Jesus in person. And one day we will. But until then we rely on our deep faith that He is who He says He is, His promises are true, and His love everlasting.

July 12th – Hebrews 12:2

Hebrews 12:2

As a little girl, whenever I had a problem the first person I’d turn to was my Grandma. And no matter the situation, her advice was the same. After listening patiently she would reply, “Honey tough times don’t last, tough people do…pray.” Difficulties are a part of life we can’t escape. And each of us has a race before us to run. But by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, we can run that race joyfully. Christ, our perfect example, endured torture, pain, sorrow, rejection, and betrayal. He despised the shame of being publicly crucified, yet He did so willingly. Why? For the joy of fulfilling the will of the Father, and the greatness of His reward. During the toughest times of our race, when we’ve hit a wall and can’t go one step further, we would do well to remember Jesus’ sacrifice. Knowing all He gave to redeem us, gives us our second wind so that we don’t, “grow weary and lose heart” (Heb 12:3) and finish the race in victory!

August 16th – 2 Corinthians 6:10

2 Corinthians 6:10

There is no greater example of finding joy in the midst of suffering than the apostle Paul. He was rejected, beaten, stoned, deserted, shipwrecked, and imprisoned. Yet through it all, he rejoiced. For Paul was a servant of God, and he knew that the sufferings of this world are nothing compared to the joy awaiting him. (Romans 8:18) We too are servants of God. And as such, we can have that same deep and lasting joy during our greatest times of sorrow. How? By living our lives from an eternal perspective instead of a worldly one. An eternal perspective frees us from chasing fleeting pursuits of fame, fortune, and power.  Because through Christ, we have already everything we need and more. And an eternal perspective reminds us that we can endure anything because God’s Spirit dwells within us empowering, sustaining, and loving us every step of the way.

May 6th – 1 John 1:3

1 John 1:3

The apostle John spent over three years walking alongside Jesus. He lived, worked, ate, loved, laughed, and cried by the side of our Savior. John saw firsthand the miracles, mercy, and grace Jesus exhibited daily. And the close, personal relationship with Christ John had, he wants for us as well. So John shared with the world his testimony of the goodness of the Lord, and the salvation that Jesus alone offers. And just as Jesus walked with John, when we abide in Him, He walks with us well. What a wonderful truth it is to know that not a single day will go by without Jesus by our side!

April 4th – Ephesians 5:2

Ephesians 5:2

If there is one word that can sum up the life and ministry of Jesus, it’s love. And it was because of His great love that Jesus laid down His life as a ransom for all. So out of hearts of thankfulness for His sacrifice, we too need to lead that same life of love. Because love is one of the greatest fruits of the Spirit, and the best way we can represent our Savior on earth. And the daily grace, mercy and love the Lord shows us, we should be showing the world. For in doing so, not only are we fulfilling the law of Christ, but we too become fragrant aromas to God!

March 11th – Hebrews 10:22

Hebrews 10:22

When we receive Jesus as our Savior, we become adopted children into God’s family. That means never again do we have to face the world alone. Now we can draw near to the Lord with the full assurance that He will never forsake us. And not only will He answer our calls, God sends the Holy Spirit to indwell us, who begins working on our hearts and minds. And when we surrender completely to Him, God will remove the evil from our conscience, and shower us clean with His holy, pure water.
