Michigan High School Reverses Decision Banning Christian Speech for Valedictorian

Graduation is a major milestone in  persons life. And when valedictorian, Elizabeth Turner prepared to give her speech crediting Jesus for her success, a Michigan high school said no. But now the school is reversing its opposition after a complaint alleged the principal’s criticism was violating the First Amendment, the student’s attorneys announced. Turner’s speech read, “For me, my future hope is found in my relationship with Christ. By trusting in him and choosing to live a life dedicated to bringing his kingdom glory, I can be confident that I am living a life with purpose and meaning.” Read more about the reversal here. 

 

Blues Clues Enlists Drag Queen for Gay Pride Parade Sing Along

The popular children’s show, Blues Clues, has jumped on the promoting gay lifestyle bandwagon. A song in the children’s cartoon show features a drag queen singing to children about gay, transgender, and nonbinary animals. Another video in the pride series features Blue and host Josh opening mail from children who talk about equality, sexual orientation, and the various pride flags. A Virginia Teacher Is Suspended After Refusing To Use Transgender Pronouns 

A Loudoun County, Virginia, teacher has been placed on administrative leave after saying he won’t address transgender students by their preferred pronouns. Leesburg Elementary School teacher Byron Tanner Cross told the county’s school board that the use of preferred gender pronouns for transgender students was against his religion during the board’s Tuesday meeting. cross is quoted as saying, “I’m a teacher, but I serve God first,” Cross said. “I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it’s against my religion. It’s lying to a child, it’s abuse to a child and it’s sinning against our God.” Read more about his suspension here. 

 

11 year Old Girl with Autism Wins Guinness World Record

Sanaa Hiremath is like many 11-year-olds with the same interests. But unlike other children her age, and most adults, Sanaa can solve any math problem without using a calculator, pen, or paper. Even after being diagnosed as autistic at just wo years old and failed math in the second grade because of her disability, she’s solving problems an engineering student would solve at MIT. To earn her Guinness World Record, Sanaa was timed while multiplying a dozen randomly generated digits. She completed the daunting task in under 10 minutes. Evangelical Colleges Consider Making Vaccination Requirements

Should you be forced to get a covid-19 vaccination in  order to participate in life? A hotly debated topic, and one being considered by evangelical colleges. Out of the roughly 140 US schools that belong to the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, so far only one is planning to require students to receive COVID-19 vaccines before starting school in the fall: Seattle Pacific University. The Chronicle of Higher Education has identified 375 US schools that are requiring vaccinations. About 50 percent of them are private institutions; 48 percent, public. Alliance For The Unreached Urges Christians To Pray for Those Without Access To The Bible

Shockingly, still one-third of the world’s population still lack access to the Bible, the church, and other believers. And as such The Alliance For The Unreached, organized a coalition of more than 50 Christian ministries in launching a 33-day prayer challenge to raise awareness. The 1:11 Prayer Challenge, which began on Sunday at 1:11 p.m. in each U.S. time zone, urges Christians around the country to take a moment each day for 33 days at 1:11 p.m. to pray for those who do not have access to the Bible or other believers. Ohio Megachurch Donating $2.5 Million 

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Crossroads Church will donate $2.5 million to local, national and international nonprofits over the next five-plus months. “God has blessed Crossroads over the past 25 years and we don’t take that lightly, so we want to use what we’ve been given to bring positive change in the communities we serve,” the church’s founder and Senior Pastor Brian Tome said in a statement. “That means sharing our resources with partners who are doing good work. Where God is moving, we want to be investing.” The multi-campus church, started in Cincinnati in 1995, now has 10 locations throughout Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton and Lexington. Total Lunar Eclipse And Full Super Moon Happening In May

The first total lunar eclipse in more than two years coincides with a super moon this week for quite a cosmic show. This super “blood” moon will be visible on Wednesday across the Pacific as well as the western half of North America, the bottom of South America and eastern Asia. the total eclipse will last about 15 minutes as Earth passes directly between the moon and the sun. But the entire show will last five hours, as Earth’s shadow gradually covers the moon, then starts to ebb. The reddish-orange color is the result of all the sunrises and sunsets in Earth’s atmosphere projected on to the surface of the eclipsed moon. Read more about the sky spectacle here.

Popular Atheist Says Aborting Babies With Disabilities Is Wise

In a disgusting and warped statement, Richard Dawkins, an evolutionary biologist, has stated that it is “immoral” to bring a child with Down’s Syndrome or other disabilities into the world. In 2014, Dawkins, in response to a woman saying she would be faced with “a real ethical dilemma” if she were to become pregnant with a child with Down Syndrome, tweeted, “Abort it and try again.” This comes after The American Humanist Association took back its humanist of the year award from Dawkins after he tweeted a comparison between trans people to Rachel Dolezal, the civil rights activist who posed as a black woman for years. Planned Parenthood Sues To Overturn Ordinance That Calls Abortion Murder

A Lubbock, Texas ordinance that bans abortion and received overwhelming approval by voters is facing a court challenge. After the city declared itself a “sanctuary city for the unborn,” Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas Surgical Health Services and Dr. G. Sealy Massingill, filed suit, claiming the city’s “Ordinance Outlawing Abortion” is a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment. The complaint came on the same day that the U.S. Supreme Court said it would take up a challenge to the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion nationwide. In that case, Mississippi seeks to revive a Republican-backed state law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Read more about the lawsuit here.

 

A New Study Shows 43% Of Millennials Don’t Believe Or Care If God Exists

A new study from Arizona Christian University suggests that there are significant, statistical differences between generations in regard to spiritual beliefs and behaviors. ACU’s Cultural Research Center recently conducted the American Worldview Inventory 2021, a survey of the philosophy of life on American adults. Each generation differed greatly when it came to specific beliefs and practices. The CRC research shows that some of the biggest differences are in definitions of success in life, abortion, Biblical practices things like and karma and horoscopes. Millennials and Gen X beliefs align more closely to one another, while Boomers and Builders hold more similar beliefs. Sadly, 43% of Millennials stated they either don’t know, don’t care or don’t believe God exists compared to 28 percent of Boomers. Read about the study here.

 

Delaware College Cancels $730,000 Dollars In Student Debt

Knowing how hard covid-19 has effected everyone, Delaware State University canceled more than $730,000 in debt for over 200 recent graduates who are faced with financial hardship. “We got money from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan, and there’s a number of things that we can do with that money as it relates to COVID-19,” said Carlos Holmes, a spokesperson for Delaware State University. “This is one thing we’ve decided to do with this money, to help our students and help defray the costs that they’re leaving here with.” For many, this money made the difference between being able to graduate. Israel Conflict With Hamas Continues

Israel needs our prayers. In a conflict as old as the ages, Israel is once again under attack. After weeks of tension during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, Israeli police clashed with Palestinian protesters near the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Hamas launched dozens of rockets that it said were to avenge Israel’s actions in the contested holy city. With both sides refusing to back down and rebuffing international calls for a cease-fire, fears have risen about an outright war. Supreme Court To Hear Abortion Case Challenging Roe vs. Wade

In what pro-life supporters call a win, the US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a challenge to Mississippi’s 15-week ban on abortion. The verdict could upend the legal right to abortion laid out in the court’s 1973 landmark Roe v Wade ruling. In announcing the decision to hear the case, the Supreme Court said they would review whether “all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional.” If Mississippi’s ban is upheld by the Supreme Court, it could pave the way for further abortion restrictions and could upend the legal right to abortion per the Roe vs Wade ruling. Mega Church Pastor Olu Brown Retires

Reverend  Olu Brown of Fulton County’s prominent Impact Church announced on Sunday that he plans to retire as lead pastor. His retirement from the progressive church takes effect in June 2022. Brown, a native of Lufkin, Texas, said he is leaving to pursue entrepreneurial and consulting opportunities full time with churches, businesses and nonprofits. “Now that part of God’s call on my life has come to an end, it’s time for me to normalize next,” he said. Utah Climber Rescued From Area Called “Certain Death”

A climber who suffered an injury in Utah was rescued from a region known as “Certain Death” after a rock the “size of a refrigerator” rolled on top of him. Officials said rescue crews reached his accident site around 4pm, responding to a call that a climber had had an accident in the Gate Buttress area of Little Cottonwood Canyon, which is a part of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The region is located about 15 miles from Salt Lake City, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue division. rescued by helicopter, officials did not provide further comment on the climber’s injuries or his condition. AOC Blasts Fellow Democrat For Supporting Israel

When Andrew Yang, who has plans to run for mayor of New York, released a statement in support of Israel, he was met with harsh criticism from fellow democrats. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who calls Israel occupiers, was the biggest critic after Yang tweeted, “I’m standing with the people of Israel who are coming under bombardment attacks, and condemn the Hamas terrorists. The people of NYC will always stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel who face down terrorism and persevere.” AOC cheered when the next day, Yang was uninvited by Muslim organizers from an event that would have commemorated the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr. ISIS Executes Christian Businessman

In yet another killing of Christians, the Islamic State has put to death Nabil Habashi Salama, a Christian businessman for his part in building the city’s St. Mary Church, the only Coptic church in the area. Video of a terror group in Egypt with ties to the Islamic State released late Saturday, showed 62-year-old Nabil Habashi Salama being shot in the back of the head with an AK-47 in the middle of what appeared to be the Egyptian desert. “As you kill, you will be killed,” states the video, directed to “all the crusaders in the world.” Read more about the assignation here. 

 

American Bible Society Releases 11th Annual State Of The Bible Report

If anything good can come from the recent epidemic, it’s that more people are reading their Bibles. American Bible Society released the first two chapters of their 11th annual State of the Bible report, which highlights cultural trends in the U.S. regarding spirituality and Scripture engagement. The release shows that millions more Americans turned to the Bible in the past year than in previous years; one in four U.S. adults report a more frequent Bible reading habit than did last year. The findings come from a survey conducted in January 2021, in which data were gathered from 3,354 online interviews with American adults in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. New Tech Makes Perishable Food Last Longer

In the U.S., households throw out around 30 million tons of food each year. But new technology could help eliminate the need for cold storage. Farther Farms, a startup based in upstate New York, developed a new type of pasteurization that makes food last longer, so perishable food can sit on a shelf instead of in a fridge. As proof, the company made packaged french fries, usually sold frozen, that can sit at room temperature for 90 days before eaten. Even better: The process doesn’t use artificial preservatives. Mississippi Pastor Killed when Plane Crashes Into His Home

A  community in Hattiesburg Mississippi, is in mourning and pulling together to help the family of a local pastor killed by a plane crash. Gerry Standley, assistant pastor at Wayside Holy Temple Church, his wife Melinda, their daughter Arrianna and their grandson Eli were all home and asleep when an aircraft crashed into the home. Gerry lost his life when the house burst into flames. The family is now accepting donations to cover funeral costs and damages from the fire. Read more about how you can help this family here.

 

Biden Reversal May Effect Religious Liberty Of Doctors

The Biden administration has announced it is reversing a Trump-era policy that advocates say protected the religious liberty of Christian doctors. At issue is a portion of the Affordable Care Act that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex within health care. Previously interpreted by the Trump administration to refer to “male or female and as determined by biology,” the Biden administration now prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, including transgenderism. Enforcement of the new rule is effective immediately, and critics say Christian doctors and other religious medical personnel may be forced to perform gender-transition procedures, including surgery which go against their religious beliefs. Author Outs Mega Pastors Who Wear Expensive Sneakers

Ben Kirby is the creator of the Instagram account,  PreachersNSneakers, where he caused an uproar after showing the values of the shoes mega pastors were wearing on stage. After gaining over 144,000 followers in just a week, Kirby knew he had struck a nerve. He has since written a book titled, PreachersNSneakers: Authenticity in an Age of For-Profit and (Wannabe) Celebrities (Thomas Nelson), which gives readers a chance to take a sober look at whether they have bought into the celebrity culture of Christianity. 10 Year Old Once Homeless Nigerian Boy Becomes U.S. National Chess Master 
Tanitoluwa Adewumi, more commonly known by his nickname “Tani”, is a 10-year old boy who lives in New York, and is now officially a U.S. National Chess Master. It is a dream come true for the boy who won the New York State chess championship while living in a homeless shelter when he was just 8-years old. Adewumi won his latest championship when he ultimately earned a chess rating of 2223. The United States National Chess Master title is given to players who reached a rating of over 2200 points accrued from games, which Adewumi achieved. During their first years in New York City, his family was living in a homeless shelter near a school where there was a chess program. When several people learned about his situation, a GoFundMe fundraiser was launched and eventually raised $254,000, which helped them move to a better home where they currently reside. Lubbock Texas Votes To Become Sanctuary City for The Unborn

In a victory for pro life supporters, citizens in Lubbock, Texas voted this past weekend to declare the city a “Sanctuary City for the Unborn. The city’s measure declares performing or aiding in an abortion unlawful. The passage of the ordinance makes Lubbock one of some two dozen cities that have declared themselves sanctuary cities for the unborn. Supporters of the measure say it reflects the views held by many in conservative Lubbock. They believe the ordinance would stand up in court and say they have an attorney who will defend the city free of charge if it is challenged. Read more about the measure here.

 

Christian And Missionary Alliance Considers Women “Pastors”

When it comes to women being pastors, Christians are deeply divided. The CMA (Christian and Missionary Alliance) consecrates and licenses women for ministry but does not permit them to use the title “pastor.” The term is restricted to men who can be elders, even though not all pastors are elders in CMA churches and not all elders are ordained pastors. But now that may change. The CMA is considering changing the title restrictions at the denomination’s annual General Council meeting, scheduled for both Nashville and online at the end of May, allowing women to be called pastors in the future. NBA Star Tobias Harris Puts Jesus In All He Does

As a member of the Philadelphia 76ers for the past three seasons, Tobias Harris  is gaining a reputation for his gifts on the court as well as his humanitarian work off of the court. His work off the court consists of community outreach for underprivileged youth nationwide and in Philadelphia. Tobias said he uses every interaction with other people to show them “the light” inside him, which he says is God. He is also quoted as previously saying, “Any person I meet, I try to embrace them and show them love so that they know I’m a Christian. Jesus Christ was a loving man. Maryland Good Samaritan Rescues Baby

Maryland fire officials are crediting a Good Samaritan with saving a child’s life after the infant was ejected from a vehicle during a car crash and sent flying into a body of water. When authorities arrived, they soon discovered that one pediatric patient was ejected from the car teetering over the guardrail and landed into the Assawoman Bay. But thanks to the hero who jumped into the water, rescuing the baby, tragedy was avoided. The infant was later airlifted to John Hopkins Children’s Hospital in Baltimore, while seven other patients were transported via ambulance to various hospitals in the area, fire officials confirmed. 32nd Annual D.C. Bible Reading Marathon Starts Saturday

This years annual 90-hour Bible Reading Marathon will kick off in Washington, D.C., Saturday as several congregations and members of Congress are expected to take turns reading from Genesis to Revelation in about four days. The 32nd annual marathon will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday and continue through 10 a.m. Wednesday. The event is hosted by the Indiana-based Bible distribution ministry, Seedline International, and will also be streamed online. The event traditionally has taken place every spring on the West Terrace of the U.S. Capitol. Christian Lawmaker Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Student

A Kansas state lawmaker was arrested and charged after allegedly kneeing a student in the groin while substitute teaching. Republican state Rep. Mark Samsel was charged with misdemeanor battery and later released on $1,000 bond after the incident, which was captured on video by students in a classroom at Wellsville’s high school. Samsel, who is a member of Wellsville Family Church in Kansas, says he didn’t do anything wrong, and according to the Associated Press, will appear in district court on May 19. Dog Gives Comfort To Grieving Child

Raelynn Nast, a 6-year-old from Fort Smith, Arkansas, was devastated after her father, Davey, died recently of colon cancer at 41 years old. The day of Davey’s visitation, Emily Beineman, happened to be jogging by with her dog, Blue. Raelynn approached her and asked if she could give Blue a hug. An immediate bond was formed. Raelynn then asked Emily to come inside and see her father, which Emily did. “Everyone was kind of looking around like, ‘Where did she come from?’ And she came in right next to Rae like they’d known each other for so long. Illinois Church Under Fire For “Drag Queen” Sunday 

In a gross example of 2 Timothy 3, an Illinois Methodist church has faced criticism for having a service entitled “Drag Sunday”. The service included drag artists who sang, prayed and performed. A drag speaker during the service said the goal was “celebrating and uplifting the voices of drag artistry within the church.” Drag itself, the speaker said, is “divine.” The church certified a drag queen as a candidate for ministry in the United Methodist Church. the candidate is the first openly gay man to be certified within the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and, as far as anyone can tell, the first drag queen certified in the United Methodist Church. Senator Tim Scott quotes Worship Song In GOP Rebuttal

When delivering the Republican’s response to President Biden’s stage of the union speech, Senator Tim Scott ended his speech by quoting a popular worship song, The Blessing, by Elevation Worship, Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes. “May the Lord bless you and keep you. Arizona Governor Signs Ban On Abortions Based On Genetic Abnormalities

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey is being applauded by pro-life supporters. Ducey signed into law a measure banning abortions performed strictly on the basis of genetic disorders detected in the fetus, such as Down syndrome or cystic fibrosis, unless the condition is considered lethal. The bill, approved in Arizona’s Republican-controlled legislature along strict party-line votes last week, makes it a felony for a medical professional to terminate a pregnancy solely on the basis of a hereditary abnormality in the fetus. Georgia Police Save Woman From Burning Car

Savannah Georgia officers are labeled heroes after smashing a car window to save a woman from being burned after the car caught on fire. Body camera video footage shows the officers shattering the windows of the car because the door was jammed and the 18-year-old woman inside the vehicle was unresponsive. They were able to pull the woman over the front passenger seat and out the back door of the vehicle. “I am so proud of these officers for their actions when responding to the scene last night,” Chief Roy Minter said. “They literally ran toward the flames and worked quickly as a team to not only remove the passenger from the car but get her to a safe location.” Read more about these heroes here.

Small Ministry Travels Across The Country Delivering Bibles to Prisons

Prisoner turned preacher, David Stevenson and his wife Tiffany of Texas, have been traveling through multiple states in an old school bus they’ve refurbished (decorated with the slogan, “There’s always hope for tomorrow,” painted on the side) delivering Bibles and discipleship books to prisons as part of their ministry, Online Christian Services (OCS Ministries). Christians Blast Canadian Extended Assisted Suicide Bill

Physician-assisted suicide, known as “Medical Assistance in Dying” or MAID, has been legal in Canada since 2016. But now the law is expanding. The new law expands access to assisted suicide to those whose death is not “reasonably foreseeable,” including the mentally ill, although that provision will not become law for two years to allow a review to establish protocols and safeguards. The new law also allows people to make advance requests for euthanasia if they fear losing the ability to make that decision later in life. Read more about this devastating law here.

 

Dallas Megachurch Loses Pastor

Todd Wagner, senior pastor and co-founder of Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas, who temporarily stepped down from his pulpit late last summer due to the sin of pride, revealed Sunday that he has resigned from his position. The pastor said he had gotten to a point in ministry where he was just not listening enough to his leadership team and failed to lead “with the usual grace in my relationships with my closest friends. Common Heart disease Drug May Fight Obesity

Those looking for a magic pill to fight the fat may be in luck. A group of researchers led by Nabil Djouder, Head of the Growth Factors, Nutrients and Cancer Group at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), shows that digoxin, a drug already in use against heart diseases, reduces inflammation and leads to a 40% weight loss in obese mice, without any side effects.
