Some people can’t wait for the holiday’s. With its glitter, lights, and festivities, they overflow with anticipation for the joy the season brings. But for others, the season can’t get over fast enough. Because it’s marked by silent struggles and unspoken pain. Recognizing those who bear the weight of sorrow during the holiday season becomes an opportunity. To show the same compassion and empathy that Jesus exemplified. For He is the ultimate source of comfort and peace. And by extending a hand to those hurting, we become beautiful channels of the peace that transcends understanding. Christmas, at its core, invites us to be bearers of Christ’s love. To offer a sanctuary for the brokenhearted and a soothing balm for wounds unseen. In this sacred season, let us be attuned to the silent cries. May we embrace the hurting with the enduring message that through Jesus, there is healing, peace, and a boundless source of comfort for every ache of the soul.

A cheerful giver exemplifies the spirit of selflessness, expressing gratitude for God’s blessings and a willingness to share those blessings joyfully with others. It’s not just about the material offering but the attitude of our hearts. Where giving becomes an overflow of the love and abundant grace shown to us. In the joyous symphony of the season, the act of giving extends far beyond material offerings. It is a reflection of our heart’s condition, an outpouring of love, and a testament to the bounty of blessings we’ve received. As we exchange gifts and spread goodwill, we are invited to embrace the cheerful nature of giving. Instead, it’s a timeless revelation of God’s unmerited favor. Where He generously and lovingly extends the gift salvation to every heart willing to receive it. The grace revealed in the manger continues to resonate, inviting us to embrace the true meaning of Christmas. That Jesus isn’t just a part of Christmas. He is the heartbeat, the melody, and the reason for the season. The eternal gift of love wrapped in the simplicity of a manger. One of the reasons Christmas is such a special time of year, is fellowship. Family, friends, and loved ones, travel across the miles to spend the holidays together. And in the festive season, Christians rejoice not only in the birth of Christ, but also in the unwavering faithfulness of God’s promise to send a Savior. Christmas whispers the timeless tale of God’s devotion. For in Jesus, His promises were fulfilled. And so we celebrate the Good News of our Messiah, and the unwavering loyalty of our God who keeps His word. The jubilation becomes a joyous communion with our ever true Heavenly Father. Who, in His great love, sent His only begotten Son to be born in a manger. To reconcile us back to Himself, to fellowship with Him in love and glory forever.  As we exchange gifts and gather together, Christmas serves as a reminder that the truest gift is the enduring faithfulness of God.

Christmas, with its twinkling lights and joyous melodies, has a magical way of awakening the spirit of generosity within us. It’s a season where hearts soften, and the joy of giving takes center stage. Whether through gifts, acts of kindness, or charitable donations, the essence of Christmas reminds us of the profound joy found in selfless giving. For we, as followers of Jesus have freely received much. And in return, we are to freely give much. Which is the true meaning of Christmas. A selfless, giving love found in the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A great divine love manifested in the humble birth in a stable. Christmas becomes a celebration of God’s ultimate expression of love for humanity, inviting us to emulate this love by fostering compassion, kindness, and goodwill toward others. The season becomes a radiant embodiment of the love that unites us all and serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative and redemptive power of love in our lives.

I’m one of these people who puts their Christmas tree up early, and always plugged in. There’s something comforting about the soft glow of the lights. And no matter how deep the night, the star shining brightly at the top, chases away the darkness. It reminds me of the star which guided the shepherds to their Savior. How it lit every step of the way to their Messiah, Jesus Christ; the great Light of the world. Once we walked in darkness, stumbling along the way. But in the midst of the world’s shadows, Jesus came, born in a manger, as a radiant beacon. His glorious birth overcame the darkness with the brilliance of His divine love. And when we receive the Light of the world as our Lord and Savior, we receive the brightness of a new dawn. One that brings with it hope, guidance, love, and the promise of eternal life. The twinkling lights on a Christmas trees echo this eternal truth. In Jesus alone, we find a light that transcends all darkness, a source of enduring joy and an illumination for our hearts all year round.

Christmas, with its peace on earth and good will to men, is a time of twinkling lights and festive joy. A time when we celebrate the birth of our Messiah, Jesus Christ. And among the celebration are the beautiful names given to our Lord and Savior. Names including, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Each name encapsulates a promise that fills our hearts with expectation and assurance. “Wonderful Counselor” embodies the wisdom that will guide us. “Mighty God” assures us of His unmatched strength. “Everlasting Father” conveys the enduring, nurturing love He extends. “Prince of Peace” heralds the arrival of a profound tranquility that transcends all understanding. In the anticipation of hope, these names become beacons. Guiding our hearts toward the fulfillment of God’s promise. A Savior whose very essence is a source of unending hope and salvation. And the true meaning of this joyous season.

2 Corinthians 13:14

As the year comes to a close and we reflect on birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I can think of no better blessing to pray for you all than Paul’s benediction to the Corinthians. This Christmas, and every day after, may you have grace, love, and fellowship. Unmerited grace is what Jesus gave when He paid our sin debt with His blood. May the same grace flow through you to everyone you meet. Love is why God sent His only begotten Son to be nailed on a Cross. May the same love shine through in all you do. Fellowship is what we can have with the Father and Son through the gift of the Spirit. May you always be led by the guidance of God’s Spirit, and follow His direction. And most of all, on this the most glorious of days, may you have a wonderful holiday overflowing with love and blessings! Merry Christmas!

Today is the last day of the year. And as we reflect on the happenings of 2021, many are more than ready to say goodbye. Yet the same things we are so eager to be rid of, will undoubtedly follow us into 2022. But we needn’t fear. For the Savior we celebrate at Christmas is the same One who will safely carry us into the new year ahead. There’s no way to sugarcoat it. We all, Christians included, will have rough times. But whatever circumstances the new year holds, we know the Lord has a purpose in them. And His glory will shine through each one. I love how Dr. Charles Stanley says, “God’s blessings are worth the sacrifice and obedience. And we cling in hope to the Lord with eager expectation for the rewards that accompany our faith.” So as we venture into the unknown of the new year, we can have confidence knowing we won’t be venturing alone.
