God’s Faithfulness

January 1st – Lamentations 3:22-23

Lamentations 3:22-23

Good morning 2024! A new dawn, and a new day! A fresh, blank page awaiting the ink of our intentions and the brushstrokes of our aspirations. It whispers promises of fresh possibilities and the beauty of new beginnings. And if you’re at all like me, it also brings new resolutions. Goals and promises made for the months ahead. Yet whether those goals are fleeting or brought to fruition, we can find comfort in knowing each new morning also brings the promise of God’s mercies. For His love never ceases, and great is His faithfulness. As we stand at the threshold of new beginnings, God’s promise serves as a beacon of hope, admonishing us that each dawn brings with it a fresh outpouring of divine grace. Reminding us that even when we aren’t faithful, God is. Faithful with opportunities, possibilities, and second chances that come with each new morning. So no matter what the year ahead holds, God’s love will be there for every moment, offering renewal, redemption, and the enduring promise of new beginnings. Happy New Year!

March 13th – 1 Corinthians 10:13

1 Corinthians 10:13

Evangelist Billy Sunday once said, “Temptation is the devil looking through the keyhole. Yielding is opening the door and inviting him in.” Temptations are everywhere, and not even the strongest Christian is immune to their pull. But thankfully we have the blessing of knowing that God will never let Satan tempt us beyond our ability to resist. And by turning to Him when we are at our weakest, we can resist any enticement. Through prayer we can ask God for strength and wisdom. By studying His Word we can gain God’s insight to help us overcome. And through the mighty power of His Spirit living inside of us, we can discern right from wrong. We serve a God who knows firsthand the temptation of sin. So when when Satan is enchanting us to wickedness, by turning to God and fellow believers we can turn aside from sin. And we can be victorious, living a life that is pleasing to God.

September 10th – Romans 5:8

Romans 5:8

The attacks of the Enemy have been coming at me fast and furious. Each day he’s been putting to the test my thoughts, tongue, and actions. And although some days I pass that test with flying colors, more often than not I fail miserably. But you know what? I don’t have to fear, because it doesn’t matter to God. His love for me isn’t based on anything I do but on everything He does. Whether I succeed or fail, God’s love never waivers! So when I’m feeling particularly discouraged, I read the words of Paul who tells me, “Newsflash! God knows your failings and loves you anyway!” The Lord knew from the beginning how we would rebel, reject, and disappoint Him. And so what did God do? Far from doling out the punishment of death we all deserve, He gives to us the precious gift of His unmerited grace and mercy. Sparing no expense, not even His only begotten Son, God Himself provides the path of reconciliation to Him, declaring us justified through faith in Jesus!

Our Faithful God – Deuteronomy 7

Deuteronomy 7

Recently while driving to an appointment, I took a wrong turn and ended up in an unfamiliar part of the city. Caught in traffic, and headed the wrong way, as soon as I was able I pulled over. There I got my bearings and called my husband to share my predicament. After hearing my plight he asked, “Why didn’t you just follow the route the GPS gave you?” I meekly replied, “Because I thought my way was better.” …

A Better Way – Deuteronomy 7

Deuteronomy 7

Recently while driving to an appointment, I took a wrong turn and ended up in an unfamiliar part of the city. Caught in traffic, and headed the wrong way, as soon as I was able I pulled over. I needed a minute to get my bearings and call my husband. After hearing my plight he asked, “Why didn’t you just follow the route the GPS gave you?” I meekly replied, “Because I thought my way was better.” …

November 22nd – Lamentations 3:22-23

Lamentations 3:22-23

Everything in life has an expiration date, even us. But there is one thing that never dies. And that is the love God both feels and demonstrates to those He calls His own. It never waivers, never changes, and never leaves us. And because God is the Author of love, the perfect love He gives isn’t because of our goodness, but His. For we fail Him daily, and could never deserve the great devotion and affection our Father lavishes on us. Yet out of His great faithfulness, God’s mercies are new each morning. With the dawn of each day, He gives us a fresh supply of His love and compassion. And how thankful are we that no matter how many times we mess up, each morning brings with it a chance to start over. To do better than the day before. Knowing that even on the days where we get up on the wrong side of the bed, God doesn’t. He is there always, waiting to give to us His mercies!

September 28th – Deuteronomy 16:13

Deuteronomy 16:13

Because it was held after the harvest, the Feast of Tabernacles, or booths, (also know as Sukkot), was a time for great rejoicing for the Israelites. The people dwelled in temporary shelters, or “booths”, to remind them of God’s abundant provision and never ending faithfulness. And it’s a reminder for us as well. For forty years, during the Exodus, God faithfully cared for His people. He brought them safely out of Egypt and the hands of their enemies, delivering them to the promised land. And during the trip, the people dwelled with God and He with them. And like the Israelites, we can rejoice over God’s faithful provision in our own lives. Because as we wander through the wilderness of life, God preserves and protects us each step of the way. One day soon, Jesus will return to deliver us to our eternal promised land. And we will dwell with Him and He with us forever!

August 4th – Isaiah 54:9

Isaiah 54:9

We’ve all found ourselves in situations that seemed hopeless. Or been in pain that is too deep, and too raw for anyone to understand. And everyone has had times when we’ve felt all alone. But as Christians we are never alone. God is always there ready, able, and willing to shower us with His lovingkindness and compassion. For no matter what we do, God in His perfect love remains the same. When we fail, when we fall, and when are are unfaithful to Him, God’s love stays the course. Why? Because His love is based on His amazing grace rather than anything we do or don’t do. So storms may rage and the winds howl, but nothing, absolutely nothing will shake the promise of peace God offers. That means we can rejoice in all trials. For storms only last awhile, and God is in complete control of every one. And He will see us through each step until the sun shines again.

May 5th – Psalm 46

Psalm 46

We all need a refuge. But sadly, in times of trouble, some seek comfort through alcohol, drugs, food, relationships, or money. But these worldly sanctuaries, are nothing more than paper houses that crumble at the first sign of an approaching storm. Yet those who find comfort in Jesus, have an unshakable refuge which can withstand even the greatest typhoon. The world may crumble around us, but the foundation of the Lord never will. And when we abide in Him, we are completely protected by His strength, love, and grace. And there’s no safer place to be than in God’s bunker!

April 6th – Deuteronomy 7:9

Deuteronomy 7:9

Relationships are hard, and people hurt, disappoint, and fail us daily. But there is one relationship that will never let us down. And that’s our relationship with God. For to those He calls His own, the Lord is faithful and true. His love never waivers, and not a single one of His promises fails to be fulfilled. We can trust our Father with every area of our hearts and lives, because He has pledged His covenant and lovingkindness to a thousandth generation. And in Romans 8:35 we are reminded that once we belong to God, nothing, absolutely nothing can superset us from His love!
