Psalm 119:105

There’s no two ways about it. Life can be hard. Each day is filled with its own challenges and choices. So no wonder there are a million self-help books out there. But there is only one book we need. Only one which is a perfect compass and guidebook for life; the Bible. Christians don’t need to wander around in darkness looking for the correct path. We have the Word of God to light our way leading us in the right direction. Our Father knows that we stumble. He knows the trials we face and the questions we have. And so from His great love, He provided us with His perfect manual to navigate every situation. The Bible is our guide, helper, deliverer, peace, joy, redemption and our everlasting promise. We can rejoice and gives thanks knowing no matter what life throws at us, we have the Word of God to perfectly light our way!

Psalm 85:11

Psalm 85 is a cry for peace and revival from the people of Israel to God. And despite their rebellion and sin, God answered their prayer. Why? Because God’s grace is greater than our sin. And out of that grace, God, from His lovingkindness and righteousness, restored peace to the land. A peace that our present land so desperately needs. Because of His never ending patience and love, God promises restoration to all who come before Him in true confession and repentance. And if we come to Him in such a manner, His truth will spring from the earth, and His righteousness look down from heaven. In His grace, He will remember our sins no more, and the Lord in His goodness, will provide a bountiful harvest. All to bring us into a right relationship with Him and each other, so that His glory may dwell in our land.

Psalm 85:12 

Israel was in turmoil. They had experienced invasion, exile, and internal division. The land was barren and the people suffering. All because they had turned their back on God. Yet the sons of Korah knew God had rescued Israel before, and so they pleaded to Him for restoration and revival once more. The current stage of our country is much like ancient Israel. We too have turned away from God. And now we are reaping the the consequences of that disastrous decision. And like the sons of Korah, we need to get our knees and cry out to God. For without His hand of blessing our upon our country, it is doomed. We His people, need to repent and return to our Father in heaven. And pray that in His great righteousness, God will not withhold what it is good. That He will instead revive our country and send all we need to be a fruitful, obedient land dedicated to producing a bountiful harvest for the Lord.

Psalm 147:3

During the pandemic, we gained a new appreciation for health care workers. Those who everyday answered the call to help the suffering. As Christians, we have the greatest frontline worker of all, God. He is on call 24-7 ready, willing, and able to rush to the rescue of all who call upon Him for help. And there is no injury, beyond His healing. No matter what hurts, God can bind the injury, and ease the pain. He is our Father in heaven who loves us with an unfathomable and unending love. And when His children hurt, He wants us to come to Him,  o appointment needed! To trust in His love, grace, and ability to cure our minds, bodies, and spirits, of all wounds. When we turn to Him, God will wrap us in His arms of love and mending. He will give us rest and recuperation. And best of all, His mending leaves no scar, is free of charge, and leaves us better off than we were before we were hurt!

Psalm 34:8

My son has always been a finicky eater. And getting him to try anything new is a challenge. So in encouraging him to take at least take one bite I say the familiar phrase, “Try it you might like it.” And more often than not, he finds himself enjoying the goodness of what he’s tasting. David knew firsthand the goodness of the Lord. In all of his trials, David took refuge in God. He tasted God’s protection, love, forgiveness, and blessing. And he wants the same for us. But David doesn’t want us to take his word for it. Instead he wants to taste for ourselves how good God is. To experience the peace, love, and security that can be found in Him alone. To rejoice in all circumstances because God is our refuge. So try God. You might like Him! And as Matthew Henry says, “Let God’s goodness be rolled under the tongue as a sweet morsel.”

Psalm 91:15

Living in a fallen world means living with fallen people. And because each of has a human nature, even those we love will hurt, disappoint, and even betray us. Yet there is One who we can put our complete faith and trust in. And that’s God. His love is perfect, steadfast, and true. He understands the hurt of disappointment when others let us down. For His Son too was betrayed by one He called brother. So we can put our hearts in His perfect hands, knowing there is no safer place for them to be. Because God will answer every plea, every call, and every cry. He will never forsake or abandon us. Never will He fall short or fail to show up. And because of our love for Him, in times of trouble, God will not only rescue us, but set us securely in a high place of honor.
