Redeemer

December 11th – Titus 2:14

Titus 2:14

Pastor Paul David Tripp once said, “The good news of the kingdom is not freedom from hardship, suffering, and loss. It is the news of a Redeemer who has come to rescue me from myself.” Jesus willing left His glorious throne in heaven, to step into our very broken world. Why? To trade His purity for our mess, and His righteousness for our shame. When I think about all He gave up and endured for me and you, my heart overflows with gratitude. My Redeemer saw every failure I would ever commit, and still, He came willingly. And He didn’t rescue me halfway, He redeemed me completely. Jesus set me apart, making me His own treasured possession, someone worth saving, someone worth loving. And He wants to do the same for you. Christmas is our reminder that redemption isn’t just something Jesus does, it’s who He is. He cleanses, restores, and rewrites the story of our lives with grace. He calls us to live differently, not out of fear, but out of gratitude for the One who paid everything to make us His. So this Christmas, I’m celebrating my Redeemer, and my Savior. The One who came not just to the world, but to me.

Reflection Question:
How does knowing that Jesus came to redeem you personally—fully, willingly, and lovingly—change the way you see yourself and the way you celebrate Christmas?

Prayer Prompt:
Jesus, my Redeemer, help me rest in the truth that You came for me. Show me the places where I need Your cleansing, Your restoration, and Your grace. Teach me to live in the freedom You purchased and to celebrate this Christmas with a heart full of gratitude for all You’ve redeemed.

August 15th – Colossians 3:12

Colossians 3:12

One of the hardest choices we make in the morning, is what to wear. Often I find myself standing in front of my closet wishing I had a personal stylist. But guess what? As Christians we have access to an outfit that is perfect for every occasion and never goes out of style! As our Redeemer, Jesus takes our filthy rags of wickedness and clothes us in the ultimate designer clothes of His righteous glory. Magnificent robes that are to sparkle with the Lord’s kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bearing one another in love, and forgiving each other with same grace shown to us. Through the blood of Jesus we are now citizens of heaven. And each day we are to dress like it. Obediently wearing our heavenly attire that reflects “those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved,” for all to see!

April 26th – Luke 23:32-43

Luke 23: 32-43

Luke tells us as Jesus hung on the Cross, He wasn’t alone. Because two other men, each a criminal, hung on either side of Him. Have you ever wondered why there were three crosses that fateful day and the significance of each? The answer is redemption, repentance, and rejection. The cross which bore our Savior is one of redemption. Jesus our Redeemer died for the sins of the world. And with His blood we are reconciled with the Father. The other two crosses, the thieves which hung to His left and right, represent the choice we must make.

On one side of Christ was a thief hurling insults at Him, taunting the Lord to save them if He could. His is the cross of rejection. He didn’t receive Jesus as His Savior, nor was he sorry for all he had done. Instead he was simply searching for a way out of his predicament. On the other side was a man whose cross represents one of repentance. In faith and reverence he requests, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Christ’s answer? “Assuredly, I say to you today you will be with Me in Paradise.” So which cross will you choose? Eternal separation from God, or paradise with Jesus?

Blessings,

Sue

January 3rd – 2 Timothy 1:7

2 Timothy 1:7

God’s gift of emotions can be a double edged sword. For with one side we experience love, joy, and gratitude. Yet with the other, pain, fear, and doubt. And make no mistake. Satan wields the bitter side of that blade ferociously and without mercy. But get this. He can only attack if we let him. You heard me. The Enemy can only strike when we allow him a foothold into our hearts and minds.

Paul makes it very clear in his letter to Timothy. God fills our spirits with His strength, power and love. The same power flowing through Jesus as He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and walked on water, resides in us! And that power of God waits with an extended hand for us to grab hold. Because overcoming fear is a two person operation. God gives us the power, but we have to use our sound minds to practice self control. Meaning we are to actively, and intentionally take ahold of our thoughts. And filter those thoughts through the sieve of God’s truth instead of Satan’s lies.

We are in a battle of a lifetime, and I truly believe we are living in the last days. So how am I going to spend the time remaining? One thing I know for sure, is that I’m done wasting it being afraid. I’m tired of running scared. I’m tired of letting Satan control my thoughts. And I’m tired of going down the rabbit hole of “what ifs.” I’m ready to go to war, with God as my Captain.

So the next time I find myself afraid, stuck, and unable to move, I’m  going yell out the word FEAR as a call to my Father, Emmanuel, Adonai, and Redeemer. Ruler and Creator of all things, “the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deuteronomy 20:4)

December 25th – Luke 1:68-69

Luke 1:-68-69

I once heard a preacher say, “If our greatest need was entertaining, God would have sent us an actor. If our greatest need was technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need was more things, God would have sent us a genie. But since our greatest need is forgiveness, God sent us a Savior.” Because our God is perfect, true, and the source of all love, from the beginning it was His plan to redeem His people. And so He promised to send a Messiah. A sacrificial Lamb who would come to give His life for all of mankind. A promise fulfilled in the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God in the flesh, Jesus came to be our Friend, Teacher, and Redeemer. He is the greatest Christmas present of all! May we give thanks and rejoice for Christ’s birth, death, and the salvation He freely offers to each and every one. Merry Christmas to you all, and may the light of Christ’s love shine upon you this and every day of the year!

December 21st – Isaiah 49:1-7

Isaiah 49:1-7

“Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.” (Helen Keller) Long before the birth of Christ, Isaiah prophesied about a light. A glorious light which would come to brighten a darkened world. And that light is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Holy Redeemer of Israel, Jesus came as the light of God to show the way to the lost. But being a beacon of hope and truth isn’t reserved for Christ alone. For God calls us to do the same. Like the great Christmas star that shone the way to the Savior, we too are to light the way for others to find Jesus. To share the Good News of not only the birth of Christ, but also His glorious death and resurrection. And to shine for Jesus as brightly as the glory of God shown on a lowly manger where our our Redeemer first laid.

December 3rd – Genesis 3:1-5

Genesis 3:1-15

At no time of the year is the grace and mercy of God more evident than at Christmas. For through the birth of Messiah Jesus, God fulfilled His promise of sending a Savior to our fallen world. I once heard it said that our holiday of Christmas actually begins with sin. Meaning there would never have been a need for a Redeemer if it had not been for the original transgression committed by Adam and Eve. God gave them everything they could ever need, yet they still rebelled against Him. And that rebellion plunged the world into darkness and death. But all hope was not lost. For in His great love, God shined His Holy light of righteousness through His Son, Jesus Christ, as a beacon of hope to a lightless world. And that divine hope is the foundation for our Christmas celebration. A divine hope found in a babe lying in a manger who came to save the world.

October 25th – 1 Corinthians 13:12

1 Corinthians 13:12

There’s a reason that some mirrors come with warning labels. Because they produce limited and flawed reflections. Paul describes our knowledge of God like a mirror. While we are on the earth, we only have a partial or dim reflection of our glorious, heavenly Father. But one day everyone of us, believer or not, will stand before the Lord face to face. And all will be revealed.  Gone forever will be the foggy mirror, and we will fully know God as He fully knows us. Imagine that! Our great Creator knows us down to the number of hairs on our head. (Matthew 10:30) He knows our most private thoughts. God sees our hopes, dreams, greatest fears, and all we were created to be. And in His great love for us, His children, He wants us to know Him as intimately as He knows us. And how wonderful it will be spending an eternity by His side. Where we will be forever growing in knowledge and love for the One who created, redeems, and calls us His!
