Luke 12:7

Although it varies by both the individual and the color, a person averages around 100,00 hairs on their head at one time. That’s a lot of hairs to count, yet God knows the exact number each person has. Why? Because with His hands, He created every individual specifically according to His purpose and plans. And to Him, we are of great value. He loves us unconditionally, perfectly, and without end. As His beloved children, our Father in heaven cares about every part of our lives. God is deeply devoted to everything He makes, especially us, because we were created in His image. The Lord knows us intimately. Better than we even know ourselves. He knows our our good and bad, our problems and victories, and our joy and pain. And He collects every tear we shed in His bottle. (Ps. 56:8) How thankful are we that even if the whole world rejects us, God never will. For He loves us like no other!

Psalm 118:24

Life has its up and downs, and some days are better than others. But each day that we are given, is a precious gift from God. And the morning dawn brings with it fresh opportunities. Opportunities to love another, to grow in our relationship with God, and to start anew. Yet while the Lord is indeed the Creator of every day and we should in fact rejoice in each one, the psalmist is actually speaking about a specific day. The wonderfully glorious day in which Jesus triumphantly entered the city of Jerusalem. Riding on the back of a donkey, He entered the city praised as “the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Luke 19:38) So give thanks. For our Savior, Jesus Christ, and each day we are given on this earth to spend with those we love. Rejoice and be glad in it!

1 Corinthians 15:57

Charles Spurgeon once said, “The best moment of a Christian’s life is his last one, because it is the one that is nearest heaven.” For followers of Jesus, death isn’t to be feared, but to be celebrated. Because we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Cor. 5:8) Through His death and resurrection at the Cross, Christ defeated death forever. And now all Christians can look forward to an eternity spent at the side of our Savior. There we will celebrate Christ’s victory forever with songs of thanksgiving and continual praise for His mercy and love. Never again will we suffer from the pull of sin, for we will finally be the complete perfect images of our Lord. So with our last breath we can rejoice and give thanks to God. For His Son, Jesus Christ, has stolen both the victory and the sting of death forever!

Psalm 66:19

Don’t you hate it when you’re trying to reach someone and your call goes straight to voicemail? That never happens with God. Through the privilege of prayer, we have a direct line of communication with God. And He’s always there, ready and eager to answer the call. Some Christians mistakenly believe that God only cares about the big stuff. But the truth is, He cares about every area of our lives both big and small. Prayer is a gift our heavenly Father gives to us so that we can come to Him with everything. Be it a petition, guidance, thankfulness, or to unburden our heart, God wants to be our first destination. For when we talk to Him, God promises to both listen and respond. And although we may not like the answer, we can give thanks that no prayer will go unanswered.

Psalm 30:12

We all suffer heartbreak. And sometimes the sorrow is so deep and painful, we feel like we can’t take another step. It’s often during these times of trials that we wonder where God is. If He loves us, why does He let us suffer? King David knew these feelings well. He was God’s beloved, but he still faced many tribulations throughout his life. Yet David sings with gladness and thankfulness to the Lord. When we are hurting the last thing we want to do is give thanks. But God calls us to do just that. Not because it’s an ego boost for the Lord, but because it’s the best therapy for our pain. When our eyes and hearts are focused on God and all He does for us, our sorrow will be drowned out by His goodness. Our mourning will turn into dancing and our sorrow into rejoicing. God never lets us suffer anything without a purpose. So we can give thanks knowing all things are in His hands and all things are used for our good, even our greatest heartaches. (Romans 8:28)

Matthew 6:25

If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and clean water to drink, you are richer than 75% of the world. Much is there to be thankful for. Because as Christians, God provides for those who love Him and follow His commandments. Fear and anxiety are powerful tools of the enemy. But God did not design us to be anxious or worried. In His Sermon on the Mount Jesus told the crowds, “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’….Do not worry about tomorrow.” (Matt. 6:31,34) Our loving Father knows what we need, and promises to fill those needs. All we have to do is trust in His provision. Throughout their 40 year journey, not once did the Israelites go without. From their food, clothing, and shelter, God never failed them.(Deut. 29:4-6) And He won’t fail us. So rejoice and give thanks. For in God’s goodness, He gives us everything we need to live a godly life. (2 Peter 1:3)

2 Corinthians 12:9

I suffer with psoriatic arthritis. And as a result, not a single day goes by when I am not in pain. The number of times I’ve prayed for healing is beyond counting. Yet God’s answer is always the same. “My grace is sufficient for you.” Hardships, pain, and trials are a part of life. And our suffering is no way a measurement of our faith. Look at the apostle Paul. A great man of profound faith who suffered with an unknown, “thorn in the flesh.” He cried out repeatedly for healing, yet God’s answer was always no. God told Paul, like He tells us, that His grace gives us all we need to endure any and all suffering. For His power is made perfect in our weakness. And when we trust and depend on Him, there is nothing we cannot endure. So rejoice and give thanks. For even in our pain, the power of Christ rests upon us.

Psalm 118:24

With the dawn of each morning, comes the gift of another day on this earth. Another day to spend with those that we love, and to work for God’s glory. And although we may not know what the day ahead holds, God does. So we can give thanks knowing whether it is one filled with joy and laughter, or tears and pain, we won’t face it alone. But there is another day for which we should rejoice. The glorious day the Lord made when He gave His life on the Cross. On that glorious day, Jesus claimed victory over His enemies, defeated death forever, and fulfilled perfectly the Law of God. So now, as children of the most high God, every day is day the Lord has made. And we will rejoice and be glad in it. Because God has redeemed, rescued, and saved us. And each day He gives us is filled with His never ending love!

1 Peter 4:16

Some scholars say that back in Peter’s time, being called a Christian was used as an insult by unbelievers. But we know there is nothing more wonderful than being known as a follower of Christ. And what an honor it is to suffer for Jesus’ sake. For one day, His glory will be revealed to all. And every knee will bow, every mouth confess Him as Lord. So any pain we experience as a Christian, we will do so thankfully, boldly, and without shame. Because nowhere do we resemble Christ more than when we endure hardship for His name and glory. In a world that tries to remove God from everything, Christian’s will face mockery, abuse, and even death. But oh the rewards we will receive when we stand before the Lord as overcomers. For just as we share in Christ’s suffering, we will share in His glory!

Psalm 68:19

Each day overflows with blessings from God. And it’s easy to be thankful for the ones we can tangibly see and feel. But are we just as thankful for the daily blessings we don’t see? Blessings such as food, clothing, shelter, and safety. Blessings we can so easily take for granted. Each day whether we are coming or going, the Lord is always behind the scenes, baring our burdens along the way. For His work wasn’t finished at the Cross. Even now, Jesus stands at the right hand of Father, interceding on our behalf. He fights for against our enemies, and cares about the poor, afflicted, and downtrodden. Never once do we face a single day on this earth alone. Not when we have Jesus as our Lord and Savior. For as the song says, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.”
